Abstract

Sanitation in the main kitchen work environment of a hotel is a crucial factor in ensuring food safety and worker health. The Main Kitchen at Verwood Hotel & Serviced Residence Surabaya has a high level of activity in food processing, making proper sanitation essential. This study aims to analyze the implementation of sanitation in the physical work environment of the Main Kitchen at Verwood Hotel & Serviced Residence Surabaya, focusing on the condition of the floors, walls, ceiling, ventilation, and lighting. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques including direct observation, interviews with kitchen staff, and documentation. The findings indicate several sanitation challenges, such as cracked floors and water puddles due to an inadequate drainage system, walls requiring regular maintenance, and a leaking ceiling that poses a risk of pest infestation. Additionally, the ventilation system is not yet optimal in reducing smoke and humidity, while lighting remains uneven in some areas. Based on these findings, infrastructure improvements are recommended, including drainage system upgrades, wall maintenance, and ceiling repairs. Moreover, optimization of ventilation and lighting and regular sanitation monitoring should be conducted to ensure the kitchen maintains high cleanliness standards. By implementing these measures, the kitchen work environment is expected to become more hygienic, safe, and supportive of food quality.

Abstract

This journal discusses a study titled "Overcoming Reading Difficulties Using an Explosion Box for Class III Students at Nursyamsiani Islamic Private Elementary School, Bintang Festive Village, Batang Kuis Sub-district." The research aims to: (1) identify forms of reading difficulties among third-grade students; (2) explore the use of explosion boxes as a medium to address these difficulties; (3) identify challenges teachers face in using the media; and (4) describe efforts to overcome these challenges. This qualitative research involved the school principal and third-grade teacher as participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and data analysis techniques such as reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings show that students struggle with distinguishing similar letters (e.g., b and d, m and n, p and q), slow spelling, repeated letters or words, and difficulties with diphthongs and consonant blends. The explosion box proved helpful in addressing these challenges by providing engaging, interactive reading experiences. However, teachers encountered obstacles such as small image sizes, limited school facilities, and financial constraints in media production. To address these issues, teachers implemented strategies like rotating the explosion box among students, ensuring visibility for those in the back, and providing additional explanations for unclear material. verall, this study underscores the importance of creative teaching media in overcoming reading difficulties. It highlights the need for schools to support teachers with resources and training to enhance learning effectiveness and student engagement in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of the Rasch Model in the validation of educational assessment instruments through the literature review study method. A total of 20 scientific articles published in the last five years were analyzed to examine the application of the Rasch Model in evaluating the validity, reliability, and quality of the question items. The results of the study show that the Rasch Model is consistently used in the development of instruments that objectively measure students' abilities, attitudes, and character. This model allows for a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the item and the respondent, as well as supporting the development of more accurate and fair instruments. Recent trends show the integration of the Rasch Model with digital technologies and statistical analysis software such as Winsteps, R, and ConQuest, which strengthens the data analysis process. The study concludes that the Rasch Model makes a significant contribution to improving the quality of learning evaluation and is very relevant to be applied more widely at various levels of education, especially in order to support data-based and objective measurement-oriented assessments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Smart Box learning media on the reading ability of class II students in the Indonesian Language subject at SDS Muhammadiyah 18 Medan. This study is a quantitative study with a quasiexperimental research method with a quasi-experiment type. The sample of this study was taken using the Random Sampling technique or simple random sampling consisting of two classes, namely class II-A totaling 26 students as an experimental class using the Smart Box media and class II-C totaling 26 students as a control class without using the Smart Box media. The data collection technique used in this study was a performance test (reading test) using Pretest and Posttest. The results of the study from both classes, namely in the pretest, had an average (mean) of the experimental class of 55.73 and the control class of 45.38. In the posttest, the average (mean) value of the experimental class was 87.31 and the control class was 61.73. The results of the hypothesis showed a t-count value of 12.767> t-table 1.675, which means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, the hypothesis states that the smart reading box media (Smart box) has an effect on students' reading ability in the Indonesian language subject for class II at SDS Muhammadiyah 18 Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the ability of students at SMP Lubbul Labib in distinguishing between literal (ḥarfī) and figurative (majāzī) meanings in Arabic. Mastery of these meanings is essential for understanding Arabic texts, especially in religious and literary contexts. The research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing multiple-choice and essay tests as instruments to measure students' comprehension levels. The results reveal that most students still face difficulties in identifying figurative meanings, particularly when they appear in literary or religious sentence contexts that require deeper interpretation. These findings highlight the need for more contextual teaching strategies and the reinforcement of interpretative exercises in Arabic texts. The study recommends the implementation of context-based learning approaches and the integration of figurative meaning materials into classroom activities in a more intensive and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the Independent Learning Curriculum at the Senior High School level by focusing on the psychological aspects of students and factors that hinder implementation. Data were obtained from two case studies at SMAN 3 Gorontalo and SMAN 1 Telaga Biru through a qualitative descriptive method with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that the Independent Curriculum has a positive impact on the psychological development of students, especially in three main aspects, namely cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Students demonstrate improved critical thinking skills, learning motivation, and practical skills through project-based learning. However, the implementation of this curriculum is also faced with various internal obstacles such as low motivation and interest of students, as well as lack of discipline due to freedom in the learning process. External barriers include limited school facilities, lack of parental support for the results of interest-talent assessments, and low teacher readiness and competence in understanding and implementing the curriculum. Based on these findings, systemic support from the government, schools, teachers, and parents is needed to optimize the implementation of the Independent Curriculum so that the goals of national education can be achieved comprehensively.

Abstract

This study discusses Arabic dialectology by highlighting the linguistic differences that emerge across various Arabic dialects. The analysis focuses on phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical aspects. The research method used is a literature review, drawing on academic sources such as journals, books, and previous studies related to Arabic dialectology. The data were analyzed using a descriptive-qualitative approach to identify forms of dialectal variation and the influencing factors, including geographical, historical, and sociocultural conditions. The findings indicate that the diversity of Arabic dialects reflects the linguistic richness and dynamic nature of Arabic-speaking communities. This study is expected to contribute to the body of knowledge in Arabic linguistics, particularly in the field of dialectology.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the increase in students' environmental care attitudes and what factors affect the success of the task method in improving students' environmental care attitudes. This type of research uses a qualitative approach, with. Data collection in this study used interview and documentation guidesheets. The research subjects consisted of 2 people as key informants and 4 people as supporting informants. Each of them is the principal, social studies teacher and students of SMPN 1 Anggrek. The results of this research based on the results of interviews are an increase in the attitude of caring for the environment in the method of assigning tasks. The assignment method is a method that presents materials when the teacher gives certain tasks that aim to make students carry out learning activities. The method of assigning assignments is not the only method in improving students' environmental care attitudes, so their success is influenced by several factors including; student interests, school policies on the environment and the role of teachers. In conclusion, the role factor of teachers is the most needed: where teachers have an important role in shaping the character of caring for the environment. The example of the teacher is very influential, when the teacher shows environmentally friendly behavior, students tend to follow the example. Even without assigning assignments, teachers must also be an example of how to care for the environment, so that it will build awareness for students to always care about their environment In addition, as a teacher, they must have creativity, especially in using the method of assigning assignments.

Abstract

Academic stress has become a common problem that needs to be considered carefully. Self-efficacy is a person's belief in understanding their ability to complete academic tasks based on self-confidence about the achievements obtained. Students have relevant corrections between learning outcomes and the academic stress they have. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self-efficacy as an effort to deal with academic stress in elementary school students. This study uses a literature review method from previous studies with sources used from Google Scholar and the selected journal years have been published in 2021-2025. The results of this study indicate that self-efficacy has an influence on academic stress in elementary school students and provides insight for educators into optimal psychological and academic development of children.

Abstract

This study aims to specifically examine aspects of the learning process in elementary schools, which have an important role in building the academic foundation and character of students. The teacher's teaching style, which includes the way of delivering material, interaction, and strategies for creating a learning environment, is one of the determining factors for successful learning. The literature review method was used to analyze national literature, with the results showing a significant influence of the teacher's teaching style on elementary school students' learning motivation. Interactive and adaptive teaching styles have proven effective in increasing learning interest.
