Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the social comparison and gratitude’s effects on body image among early adults in Karawang. This quantitative research used convenience sampling to obtain 384 participants aged 18–25 in Karawang. The Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scale (MBRSQ-AS), the Physical Appearance Comparison Scale-Revised (PACS-R), and the Gratitude Resentment and Appreciation Test–Short Form (GRAT-Short Form) were used to collect the data. Then, to test the hypotheses, a multiple regression analysis was used. From the findings, it was found that: (1) social comparison gave effects significantly on body image (p = .000 < .05), gratitude had a significant influence on body image (p = .014 < .05), and social comparison and gratitude simultaneously significantly influenced on body image (p = .000 < .05), accounting for 55.4% of the variance (Adjusted R Square = .554). These findings suggest that social comparison functions as a risk factor, while gratitude serves as a protective factor in shaping body image among early adults in Karawang.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the ethics of conflict management and discipline in educational institutions through a literature review approach. As a space for social interaction, educational institutions are inseparable from potential conflicts arising from differences in interests, values, and perceptions among individuals. On the other hand, discipline is an essential element in establishing order and supporting the learning process. However, conflict management and disciplinary enforcement that are not grounded in ethics can instead damage the academic climate and trigger new psychological issues within the educational environment. This study employs a descriptive-analytical method, gathering data from various literature sources such as books, scientific journals, and relevant articles. The results indicate that ethics plays a crucial role as a philosophical and practical foundation in conflict management and disciplinary enforcement that is fair, wise, and humane. An ethical approach is capable of fostering constructive conflict resolution through dialogue, while simultaneously shifting the orientation of discipline from mere punishment toward sustainable character building. Consequently, the integration of ethical values into conflict management and discipline serves as the primary key to creating a harmonious, safe, and conducive educational environment for the growth and development of students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of transformational leadership of school principals on students’ digital literacy through the school digital ecosystem and teacher innovation as mediating variables. The research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design and was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The sample consisted of teachers at primary and secondary education levels who have implemented technology-based learning. The results show that transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on the school digital ecosystem. Furthermore, the digital ecosystem significantly influences teacher innovation, and teacher innovation has a significant effect on students’ digital literacy. The findings also reveal that transformational leadership indirectly affects students’ digital literacy through the school digital ecosystem and teacher innovation. These results indicate that improving students’ digital literacy is not solely determined by technological factors but also by school leadership and pedagogical innovation. Therefore, a synergy between transformational leadership, strengthening of the digital ecosystem, and enhancement of teacher innovation is essential to create adaptive learning in the digital era.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability in mathematics is one of the essential competencies that elementary school students must master in order to face everyday life problems. However, the facts show that many students still experience difficulties when confronted with problems that are actually not too complex, due to their inability to formulate solution strategies. This is suspected to be caused by low learning motivation and minimal student engagement during the learning process. This study aims to examine the influence of learning motivation and student engagement on mathematical problem-solving ability in elementary school students. The approach used is quantitative with a correlational design. The research subjects include elementary school students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through completion of learning motivation questionnaires, student engagement observation sheets, and problem-solving ability tests. The research results show that learning motivation has a positive and significant effect on problem-solving ability, while student engagement also makes a substantial contribution to the improvement of this ability.

Abstract

Due to the demands of simultaneously fulfilling domestic and public roles, working women often face a double burden. The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences of working women who occupy dual roles and the dynamics associated with the division of roles within the family. This research was conducted using qualitative, case study and phenomenological methods. Data were collected through comprehensive interviews with five informants with diverse educational backgrounds, occupations, and family circumstances. The result indicate that all informants experience a double burden. Women working in the public sphere does not necessarily reduce domestic responsibilities, although the division of roles within the family tends to be situational. Families, especially husbands, play a crucial role in maintaining women’s careers, but this support does not fully reflect equal roles. The results suggest that patriarchal social and cultural contructs still influence gender relations within the family. This study demonstrate that working women attempt no negotiate their roles aas agents despite their position within unequal social structure. This study examines this through the perspectives of feminist/gender theory and role exchange theory.

Abstract

Higher education serves as an instrument for developing the quality of human resources (HR). Therefore, the issue of sustainability in higher education requires proper attention and management from various stakeholders, including the government, higher education institutions, and the community. However, not all students share the same financial circumstances when pursuing higher education, particularly those from underprivileged families who often face limitations in meeting educational needs. These conditions potentially affect the sustainability of their studies and increase the risk of discontinuing education before completion. Consequently, this study aims to examine the role of educational assistance in improving the retention of students from underprivileged families. This research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review of various relevant scientific sources. The study seeks to explore the correlation between student retention and educational assistance in Indonesia, as well as to analyze the extent to which such assistance plays a role in reducing student dropout rates. The findings indicate that educational assistance plays a positive role in supporting study sustainability by providing financial support that helps meet academic requirements and living expenses during the course of study. Furthermore, educational assistance also impacts the improvement of students' learning motivation and self-confidence in completing their higher education. Thus, educational assistance is one of the contributing factors to increasing the retention of students from underprivileged families in higher education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology, particularly the use of smartphones, has transformed patterns of communication and social interaction within society. One phenomenon that has emerged is the behavior known as “phubbing,” which refers to the act of ignoring one’s conversation partner by focusing one’s attention on a smartphone during face-to-face interactions. This study aims to examine the concept of phubbing in the context of social interaction, identify the phenomenon as it occurs in society, and analyze its impact on the quality of interpersonal relationships. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative approach through the examination of various relevant scientific journal articles from the past seven years. Data collection was conducted via a documentary study, while data analysis employed a qualitative descriptive method by comparing and synthesizing findings from previous research. The results of the study indicate that phubbing behavior generally has a negative impact on social interaction, such as a decline in communication quality, reduced empathy, the emergence of conflicts, and low satisfaction in social relationships. Influencing factors include the intensity of smartphone use, low self-control, and the influence of digital culture. However, in certain contexts, such as the workplace, phubbing does not always have a negative impact. Therefore, awareness in the use of technology is necessary to ensure it does not disrupt the quality of social interactions.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical stage of development marked by various significant changes, both physically and cognitively. These changes influence adolescents’ self-perception, particularly regarding their body image and appearance. This study aims to explore the implications of body perception on self-confidence in adolescents, utilizing a literature review method. The research is based on an analysis of 20 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2026, all of which address body perception and self-confidence. The findings reveal a generally positive relationship between body perception and self-confidence, as most studies indicate that adolescents with positive body image tend to exhibit higher levels of self-confidence. However, some studies highlight the challenges faced by adolescents with negative body image, often correlating with lower self-confidence levels. This discrepancy suggests that while positive body perception can enhance self-confidence, negative body image may hinder the development of healthy self-esteem. In conclusion, body perception plays a crucial role in shaping adolescents' self-confidence, emphasizing the importance of fostering positive body image during this developmental stage to support psychological well-being.

Abstract

The influence of a growth mindset on the motivation, persistence, and resilience of students experiencing failure is a major concern in today's education world, given the importance of overcoming academic obstacles and building psychological resilience. This research is motivated by the high rates of learning failure and academic stress experienced by students, and the need for strategies that can improve their resilience and mental well-being. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze the influence of a growth mindset on student academic persistence and resilience through a literature review and case studies. The method used was a literature review, reviewing 18 scientific journals from 2023 to 2025, including a qualitative analysis of various growth mindset implementation strategies and their impact on students. The primary data obtained indicate that a growth mindset plays a significant role in increasing learning motivation, the ability to manage failure, and resilience to academic stress, as well as strengthening students' psychological well-being. These key findings confirm that consistent implementation of a growth mindset through training, curriculum, and guidance and counseling services can help students recover from failure and improve academic achievement sustainably. The study concludes that a growth mindset is a crucial factor in developing student potential and needs to be integrated into educational policies and guidance and counseling services to create more resilient and empowered students.

Abstract

. This research was motivated by the fact that the ability of scientific literacy of students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject are not yet optimal, as well as the lack of variation in learning media that connects material with real life. This research aims to develop, test the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of scrapbook media based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in improving scientific literacy of students at SDN 1 Kawengan. The type of research used is Research and Development (R & D) with the ADDIE model procedure (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects of this research were fourth grade students of SDN 1 Kawengan. Data collection instruments include interview guidelines, expert validation sheets (material experts and media experts), response questionnaires (educators and students), and scientific literacy test instruments in the form of pre-test and post-test. The results of the research show that the CTL-based scrapbook media product developed is declared very feasible based on the validation results of experts. The practicality test results from the responses of educators and students also show very practical criteria. Furthermore, the effectiveness test through N-Gain test analysis shows a significant increase in scientific literacy scores between before and after using the media. Thus, it can be concluded that CTL-based scrapbook media is a media that is feasible, practical, and effective to use in improving the scientific literacy ability of students in IPAS learning at SDN 1 Kawengan.
