Abstract

One of the key factors that contribute to students' success in completing their higher education is positive psychological functioning or good psychological well-being. A student's adaptation during the transition to college is influenced by several factors, one of which is socio-emotional aspects (self-confidence and relationships with peers). The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the relationship between peer attachment and psychological well-being in migrant students. This research employs a quantitative method, and hypothesis testing is conducted using Pearson’s product-moment correlation analysis. The subjects in this study are migrant students. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires to measure the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS) and the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA). The results indicate a highly significant positive relationship between peer attachment and psychological well-being in migrant students, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.57 and a significance value of 0.00 (p < .01).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between psychological well-being (PWB) and celebrity worship (intense-personal) (IPCW) in Gen Z K-Pop fans in Java. The participants in this study were 289 Gen Z K-Pop fans in Java Island consisting of 262 women (90.7%) and 27 men (9.3%). Data collection was done through accidental sampling. The research method used was quantitative research method with correlational design. The measurement scale used CAS (α=0.85) and RPWBS (α=0.912). The results of the correlation analysis show that PWB and IPCW have a significant negative relationship in the dimensions of autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, life goals, and self-acceptance. While PWB in the dimension of positive relationships with others has no significant relationship with IPCW. For this reason, K-Pop fans need to pay attention to their psychological well-being so that they are not trapped in IPCW behavior.

Abstract

Parenting is a significant topic in developmental psychology, widely discussed among both scholars and the general public. Positive psychology-based parenting is a promising area of study, as it can support both parents and children in achieving well-being in their lives. This study aims to adapt the Nicomachus-Positive Parenting (NPP) scale into the Indonesian language. The NPP is a measurement tool developed by Thodoros A. Kyariazos and Anastassios Stalikas in 2019. It is grounded in the principles of positive psychology and consists of four factors: nurturing values, strength identification & boosting, parenting context, and involvement. This study involved 203 parents with children aged 7–13 years. The results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) indicate that the 16-item scale demonstrated a good model fit (X²/df = 1.588; RMSEA = 0.054; RMR = 0.040; GFI = 0.916; CFI = 0.931; TLI = 0.911; AGFI = 0.876; IFI = 0.933). Cronbach's Alpha calculation further confirmed the reliability of the instrument (α = .817, p ≤ .001). Therefore, the findings suggest that the Indonesian version of the Positive Psychology Parenting scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool.

The literature was searched using reputable journal data networks and using related keywords. The results showed that there were differences in sample characteristics, socio-demographic circumstances of parents or children, and methods used. This literature review found that factors related to internal factors within adolescents and parents. These internal factors include self-regulation and habitual behavior by parents. The main factors found were that family and parents can explain the high-low level of internet addiction in adolescents. Family factors include parenting style, parent-child relationship, and parental mediation style. This study shows that the main factors that give clear significance to adolescents' internet addiction are adolescents' intrapersonal factors and their relationship with their parents. In conclusion, parents have an important role in regulating the level of internet addiction.

Abstract

Mid-year college students often face a challenging academic transition marked by increased workload, career pressure, and declining intrinsic motivation, which may lead to reduced engagement and a higher risk of dropout. Grit defined as perseverance and consistency toward long-term goals, emerges as a crucial psychological protective factor. This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Grit Scale (Grit-O) to ensure its cultural relevance and psychometric soundness for use among mid-year college students. Grit measures two dimensions Perseverance of Effort and Consistency of Interest (Duckworth et al., 2007). The adaptation process followed the International Test Commission (ITC) guidelines, including obtaining permission, back-to-back translations, evaluating language comparability and interpretability, and pilot testing on a student sample. 222 active students in greater area were recruited using convience sampling. Construct validity was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and internal reliability was examined with Cronbach’s alpha. The CFA results CFI = 0.920, TLI = 0.910, RMSEA = 0.060, with all subscales showing adequate reliability (α = 0.780). These findings indicate that the Indonesian version of the Grit-O scale is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing perceived social support among Indonesian mid year college students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of friendship circles and self-confidence on social conformity among early semester midwifery students at Poltekes Semarang. A total of 70 second-semester students participated as respondents in this quantitative study. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires measuring friendship circles, self-confidence, and social conformity. Descriptive statistics showed that students had moderately high scores on friendship circles and self-confidence, and a moderate tendency toward social conformity. Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between friendship circles and social conformity (r = 0.62, p < 0.01), and a significant negative relationship between self-confidence and social conformity (r = -0.45, p < 0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that both friendship circles and self-confidence significantly predicted social conformity (R² = 0.52, p < 0.001). The findings suggest that strong peer connections increase conformity tendencies, while higher self-confidence reduces it. These results highlight the importance of balancing peer influence and self-confidence development in midwifery students to foster healthy social adaptation without loss of individuality.
