Abstract

This article examines the challenges faced by Islamic education teachers in adapting their teaching methods to students' learning styles in the digital technology era. Technological advancements, including the Internet, artificial intelligence (AI), and social media, have transformed the ways students interact, access information, and construct knowledge, making traditional instructional approaches such as lectures and rote memorization increasingly less relevant. This study employed a literature review approach by analyzing academic publications published over the past ten years. The findings reveal several major challenges encountered by Islamic educators, including the mismatch between traditional teaching methods and digital learning needs, limited technological literacy among teachers, the risk of distraction caused by digital content, and the necessity of maintaining the values of the Qur'an and Hadith as the primary foundations of Islamic education. Furthermore, the diversity of students' learning styles visual, auditory, and kinesthetic requires teachers to adopt more creative, flexible, and adaptive instructional strategies supported by appropriate learning technologies. Therefore, Islamic educators need to enhance their digital competencies, promote ethical technology use, and continuously emphasize the cultivation of noble character (akhlaq). With appropriate strategies, Islamic education can remain relevant, contextual, and meaningful while preparing students to become faithful, morally responsible, and capable of meeting the challenges of contemporary society. This study aims to explore the challenges and formulate strategic recommendations for Islamic educators in adapting teaching methods to students' learning styles in the digital era while ensuring that spiritual values are preserved amid rapid technological advancement.

Abstract

Inequality in access to digital devices has become a significant issue in education in the digital era, as junior high school students increasingly depend on digital technologies to obtain information, access learning materials, complete assignments, and communicate with teachers. This study was conducted because previous discussions have primarily focused on online learning in general, while the analysis of disparities in digital device access and their effects on junior high school students’ learning processes remains relatively limited. The study aims to explain the concept of digital device access inequality, its contributing factors, its impact on learning, and potential strategies to address the issue. The research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected through the identification, selection, review, and content analysis of relevant journals, books, reports, and academic documents. The findings indicate that inequality in digital device access is influenced by several factors, including family economic conditions, device quality, internet connectivity, data availability, digital literacy, parental support, and school readiness. These disparities affect students’ opportunities to participate effectively in digital learning environments and may contribute to unequal educational outcomes. The study concludes that equitable access to digital technologies, the strengthening of digital literacy, and the implementation of inclusive school policies are essential prerequisites for ensuring fair and effective learning experiences for junior high school students. Addressing these challenges is crucial for reducing educational disparities and promoting greater equity in digital education.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the most dominant translation strategies and evaluate the success rate of students in maintaining pragmatic meanings when translating implicit conversations from the American sitcom Modern Family into Indonesian, using the framework of Peter Newmark (1988) and Grice HP (1989) this study examines how successful EFL students' ability to understand the implicit meanings contained in conversations. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The results showed that students used five translation strategies, namely Literal Translation (35%), Word-for-Word Translation (10%), Faithful Translation (7%) and Idiomatic Translation (6%). The Literal Translation strategy is the most dominant strategy used by EFL students, indicating a tendency to prioritize linguistic forms over pragmatic meanings. Meanwhile, the overall success rate in understanding the meaning of pragmatism was at the level of "Successful" (63%) and "Fairly successful" (38%) with no students achieving "Very successful" and "Less successful". Based on the success of understanding pragmatic meaning based on Maxim Grice, students were most successful in understanding the maxim of quality (65%), maxim of quantity (61%), maxim of relevance (57%) and maxim of manner (56%), this shows that EFL students are able to understand implications that contain sarcasm, hyperbole, and incomplete information. It can be concluded that the choice of strategies used by students affects the quality of translation of implicit meanings in implicit conversations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Brunei Darussalam from the perspective of its historical development, government system, and the economic, social, and cultural conditions of its people. This study was conducted to understand the relationship between historical development and the political system and social life in shaping the identity of the modern Brunei nation. The research method used is a qualitative method with a library research approach through data collection from various sources such as books, scientific journals, articles, and relevant documents. The results of the study show that Brunei Darussalam has experienced a long historical development, starting from the Majapahit era to developing into a strong Islamic sultanate. Brunei's government system is an absolute monarchy with the Sultan as head of state, head of government, and religious leader who has significant authority in running the government. The concept of Malay Islam Beraja (MIB) is the main foundation in the government system and state policies. In addition, Brunei's economic condition is supported by petroleum and natural gas resources which have made this country have a high level of prosperity. In their social and cultural life, Bruneian society maintains a Malay identity combined with Islamic values through customs, religious education, the use of the Malay language, and the implementation of Islamic law-based social norms. Thus, history, government system, economic conditions, and socio-cultural life are strongly intertwined in shaping Brunei Darussalam's character as a modern Islamic state.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contribute 60.5% to Indonesia's GDP but continue to face significant challenges in financial management, particularly low financial literacy, the absence of standardized bookkeeping, lack of separation between personal and business finances, and minimal utilization of digital technology. This community service program aimed to enhance the understanding of accounting theory's role in improving transparency and accountability in financial management among 25 MSME actors in Perumahan Pondok Indah RW 09, Kelurahan Kutabumi, Kecamatan Pasar Kemis, Kabupaten Tangerang. The implementation method used was problem-based solution training, which included problem identification, solution planning, training and mentoring on simple bookkeeping (recording income, expenses, and profit calculation), introduction and practice of the Buku Warung digital application, evaluation through pre-test and post-test, and program sustainability planning. The outcomes showed a significant increase in participants' average understanding from 12.5% to 75% (a 62.5% improvement), with 85% of participants understanding the importance of financial recording, 80% understanding the separation of personal and business finances, and 60% ready to use the Buku Warung application. This program successfully improved financial literacy, encouraged transparent and accountable financial management, and established sustainable collaboration between the university and local government.

Abstract

This background is based on the increasingly rapid advancement of contemporary medical science, such as DNA-based vaccination and media euthanasia, which have given rise to new bioethical issues not yet explicitly regulated in classical Islamic jurisprudence. In this context, medical fatwas issued by religious institutions serve as the primary reference. However, tensions arise between normative fatwas and social reality. This demonstrates that medical fatwas are not merely legal products, but rather social arenas where various interests, authorities, and negotiations converge among ulama, medical personnel, patients, and the state. This study aims, first, to analyze medical fatwas as a social arena in contemporary Muslim society. Second, to identify social factors influencing the production, dimensions, and acceptance of medical fatwas. Third, to formulate an Islamic legal framework adaptive to medical advancements. The method used is a qualitative approach, designed as a case study of controversial medical fatwas in Indonesia, with data collection conducted through a literature review. The study found that medical fatwas are produced through a process of negotiation between the authority of ulama and medical personnel, often overshadowed by political and economic interests. Restrictive or prohibitive fatwas tend to be less followed if they conflict with the patient's immediate needs, while looser fatwas often trigger resistance from conservative groups. The findings indicate that the most adaptive medical fatwas are those produced through a participatory process, utilizing the maqasid al-Shariah approach, local conditions, and scientific developments. Conclusion: Medical fatwas cannot be understood as normative products, but rather as dynamic arenas. An Islamic legal framework that is adaptive to medical developments can only be realized if the ifta' (fatwa-making) process is inclusive, multidisciplinary, and responsive to the empirical realities of contemporary Muslim society.

Abstract

Educational evaluation is an essential component of the learning process that functions not only to measure learning outcomes but also to provide a basis for decision-making aimed at improving educational quality. This article seeks to examine the evolution of educational evaluation concepts in contemporary literature, analyze the conceptual distinctions among evaluation, assessment, measurement, and testing, and explore the contribution of evaluation to learning effectiveness in the digital era and twenty-first-century education. This study employed a qualitative approach using a library research method through the analysis of relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that the concept of educational evaluation has evolved from an outcome-oriented approach toward a more comprehensive, continuous, and learner-centered perspective. Evaluation encompasses a broader scope than assessment, measurement, and testing, as it involves judgment and decision-making processes based on collected data. Numerous studies demonstrate that systematically designed and continuously implemented evaluations significantly contribute to learning effectiveness by providing feedback, monitoring student progress, and improving instructional strategies. Furthermore, digital transformation has encouraged the development of technology-based evaluation practices that are more flexible, adaptive, and authentic. In the context of Islamic Religious Education, evaluation plays a crucial role in assessing students’ competencies holistically across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Therefore, the development of evaluation systems that align with the demands of twenty-first-century education is a strategic necessity for enhancing the quality of learning and education sustainably.

Abstract

Motivation is one of the crucial factors influencing the success of students’ learning processes. This article aims to examine the role of motivation in improving the quality of learning and students’ academic achievement. The study employs a literature review approach by analyzing various theories and research findings related to learning motivation. The analysis reveals that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation significantly influence students’ interest, active participation, and persistence in learning activities. Students with high levels of motivation tend to demonstrate greater concentration, enthusiasm, and academic achievement compared to those with lower levels of motivation. Furthermore, teachers, learning environments, and parental support play important roles in fostering and strengthening students’ motivation to learn. These factors contribute to creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage students to achieve their full academic potential. Therefore, innovative teaching strategies and appropriate instructional approaches are necessary to ensure the continuous development of students’ motivation. Strengthening learning motivation is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the learning process and improve students’ academic outcomes in various educational settings.
