Abstract

Low achievement in vertical multiplication is associated with students’ difficulty understanding procedural steps, correctly positioning digits and carrying values, and actively engaging in classroom learning. This study examined the effect of Smart Board learning media on third-grade students’ learning outcomes in vertical multiplication. A quantitative, quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was employed. The population comprised 31 third-grade students at SDN 14 Pulau Punjung, all of whom were included through saturation sampling. Class III A, consisting of 16 students, served as the experimental group, whereas Class III B, comprising 15 students, served as the control group. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests followed by an independent-samples t-test in SPSS 25. The experimental group achieved a mean post-test score of 82.19, compared with 65.00 in the control group. The hypothesis test yielded a two-tailed significance value of .001, indicating a statistically significant difference between the groups. These findings demonstrate that Smart Board learning media significantly improved students’ learning outcomes in vertical multiplication. The study highlights the practical value of interactive instructional media for facilitating procedural understanding and supporting mathematics achievement in elementary education.

Abstract

Illegal-building control remains a critical issue in public-space governance because urban-order objectives frequently intersect with residents’ livelihood needs. Nevertheless, district-level evidence regarding the effectiveness of local regulations governing illegal structures remains limited. This study analyzed the effectiveness of illegal-building control under Padang Mayor Regulation No. 17 of 2015 in Padang Utara District and identified the factors influencing its implementation. A qualitative descriptive design was employed, involving 12 informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation used to strengthen the credibility of the findings. The findings indicate that enforcement was relatively effective across five dimensions of appropriateness: policy, implementation, target, environment, and process. This effectiveness was supported by regulatory clarity, enforcement capacity, institutional coordination, and community participation. However, residents’ economic interests and the recurrence of violations continued to constrain sustained compliance. The study concludes that the effectiveness of illegal-building control depends not only on regulatory and institutional capacity but also on the socioeconomic circumstances of affected residents. These findings provide district-level evidence that durable enforcement requires consistent monitoring, stronger interagency coordination, meaningful community engagement, and livelihood-sensitive implementation strategies.

Abstract

Limited access to computer-networking equipment, combined with continued reliance on verbal explanations and static images, presents a persistent challenge in teaching the Computer and Telecommunications Network Engineering (TJKT) elective subject. This study aimed to develop and evaluate augmented reality (AR)-based learning media using Unity 3D for Grade XI students at SMKN 8 Padang. A research and development approach was employed using the ADDIE model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The participants included three expert validators and 31 Grade XI TJKT students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, observations, and learning-achievement tests and analyzed through quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The developed learning media achieved a validity score of 93.00%, a practicality score of 94.08%, and an effectiveness score of 89.52%, placing it in the very valid, very practical, and very effective categories, respectively. The application provides interactive three-dimensional visualizations of computer-networking devices, thereby supporting more concrete learning experiences despite limited access to physical equipment. These findings demonstrate the feasibility of integrating AR-based media into vocational computer-networking education and strengthen the evidence supporting AR-assisted vocational learning. Further development should incorporate markerless AR, improve cross-platform compatibility, involve larger samples, and employ more rigorous experimental designs to establish comparative learning effects.

Abstract

Although women’s access to microfinance has received considerable scholarly attention, research explaining how access to finance translates into sustained economic empowerment, particularly within women-focused Sharia financial institutions in Indonesia, remains limited. This study aims to develop an integrative framework that explains the mechanisms by which conventional and Islamic microfinance contribute to women’s economic empowerment. A qualitative evidence-synthesis approach was employed through a structured review of peer-reviewed studies published in SINTA 1–2, Scopus-indexed, and Web of Science-indexed journals, with priority given to DOI-verifiable and recent publications while retaining foundational theories of empowerment. Relevant studies were reviewed and synthesised thematically to identify recurring mechanisms, enabling conditions, and constraints. The findings reveal six interdependent mechanisms: access to appropriate finance, business and financial capabilities, social capital, control over income and household decision-making, digital capability, and institutional design. Access to finance can strengthen income, assets, savings, and business continuity; however, its effects on women’s agency remain heterogeneous and may be constrained by repayment pressure, limited control over loan utilisation, weak market access, and restrictive gender norms. The study proposes a Finance–Capability–Agency pathway, demonstrating that Sharia-compliant finance becomes more empowering when integrated with mentoring, savings mechanisms, digital inclusion, and safeguards for women’s decision-making. These findings extend current understanding of financial inclusion and women’s empowerment and provide practical guidance for women-focused Sharia cooperatives in Indonesia and comparable contexts. Further research should empirically test the proposed pathway across different institutional and socio-cultural settings.

Abstract

The increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning media into higher education offers students greater access to information and assistance in understanding course material and completing assignments. However, inappropriate use may undermine learning independence, engagement, and responsibility. This study examined the effect of AI-based learning media on the learning motivation of students in the Sociology Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat. Grounded in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory, the study employed a quantitative associative design. The population comprised 170 students from the 2022–2025 cohorts, from whom 65 participants were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, simple linear regression, t- and F-tests, and the coefficient of determination in IBM SPSS Statistics 21. The results showed that AI-based learning media positively and significantly predicted students’ learning motivation, as indicated by the regression equation Y = 42.309 + 0.516X and a significance value of 0.003 (p < 0.05). The correlation coefficient (R = 0.365) indicated a low positive relationship, while the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.133) showed that AI-based learning media accounted for 13.3% of the variance in learning motivation, with the remaining 86.7% attributable to other factors. These findings indicate that AI-based learning media can support students’ motivation when used appropriately, critically, and responsibly. The study underscores the importance of strengthening digital literacy and positioning AI as a learning support tool rather than a substitute for students’ independence and critical thinking.

Abstract

Conventional anti-inflammatory drugs may cause serious adverse effects, creating a need for safer plant-derived therapeutic candidates. Although Moringa oleifera has recognized biological potential, computational evidence regarding the anti-inflammatory activity of its phytoconstituents against prostaglandin D₂ 11-ketoreductase (AKR1C3; PDB ID: 1S2A) remains limited. This in silico study evaluated 12 bioactive compounds from an ethanolic extract of M. oleifera as potential inhibitors of this molecular target. Pharmacokinetic properties and oral bioavailability were predicted using SwissADME according to Lipinski’s rule of five. Molecular docking was subsequently performed using Molecular Operating Environment 2019 to evaluate ligand–receptor binding affinities based on Gibbs free energy (ΔG) and root-mean-square deviation (RMSD). The physicochemical assessment showed that 11 compounds had favorable predicted membrane permeability and systemic absorption, whereas rutin violated Lipinski’s criteria. Docking analysis identified quercetin, apigetrin, chlorogenic acid, ellagic acid, and naringenin as the most promising candidates. These compounds exhibited the lowest ΔG values and stable binding conformations, with RMSD values below 2.0 Å. The findings indicate that these five phytoconstituents have favorable predicted interactions with AKR1C3 and may possess potential anti-inflammatory activity associated with PGD₂ metabolism. Accordingly, they represent promising lead compounds for developing selective plant-derived anti-inflammatory agents. This study provides a computational foundation for future molecular dynamics simulations and clinical validation.

Abstract

Improving the performance of craft small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) requires not only technology-enabled market expansion but also consistent product quality and environmentally responsible business practices. This study examined the associations between digital marketing utilization, product quality, green business practices, and the performance of craft SMEs in Pasuruan City. A quantitative explanatory design was employed. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 117 craft SME owners selected through purposive sampling and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicated that digital marketing utilization was not significantly associated with SME performance, whereas product quality and green business practices showed positive and significant associations. Green business practices emerged as the strongest predictor of performance. Collectively, the three variables were significantly associated with SME performance and explained 71.9% of its variance. These findings indicate that adopting digital marketing alone may be insufficient to improve business performance unless it is supported by high-quality products and environmentally sustainable practices. The study contributes empirical evidence that craft SME development should prioritize an integrated strategy that strengthens product quality and green business practices while transforming digital marketing from a basic promotional instrument into a strategic organizational capability.

Abstract

The limited adoption of rorak as a soil and water conservation technique in coffee plantations in Parbuluan District, Dairi Regency, has been associated with farmers’ limited knowledge of and attitudes toward its benefits and application. This study examined changes in farmers’ knowledge, attitudes, and implementation practices following an agricultural extension program on rorak construction for coffee-land conservation. A descriptive quantitative pretest–posttest evaluation was conducted from January to May 2026 involving 40 coffee farmers from the Immanuel and Unggul Farmer Groups. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and pretest and posttest assessments. Changes in knowledge were evaluated by comparing scores obtained before and after the extension activity, whereas attitudes were measured using a Likert scale. The mean knowledge score increased from 4.75 at pretest to 8.25 at posttest, representing a 3.50-point or approximately 73.7% increase. The overall attitude score reached 86%, indicating a highly positive response to rorak adoption. Furthermore, 20 farmers (50%) implemented rorak, exceeding the initial target of 30%. These post-extension improvements suggest that the program strengthened farmers’ knowledge and attitudes while encouraging the practical adoption of soil and water conservation technology. Although the design does not establish causality, the study provides context-specific evidence that locally tailored agricultural extension can support sustainable conservation practices among smallholder coffee farmers.

Abstract

Systematic management of hajj guidance services is essential for preparing pilgrims who possess the knowledge, practical competence, spiritual readiness, and independence required to perform the pilgrimage. This study analyzed the implementation of da‘wah management through planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling functions in supporting the quality of hajj guidance services at KBIHU ANNUR Kudus. A qualitative field-research design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving KBIHU managers, field coordinators, administrative staff, and prospective pilgrims selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Source and technique triangulation was employed to enhance data validity. The findings demonstrate that da‘wah management was implemented through an integrated and continuous process. Planning involved comprehensive planning and coordination meetings. Organizing and actuating comprised the systematic preparation of guidance materials, theoretical and practical training, health and spiritual guidance, group formation, and assistance in Makkah and Madinah. Controlling was undertaken through evaluations, question-and-answer sessions, coordination, and continuous monitoring of pilgrims. These practices indicate that service quality extended beyond the transmission of religious knowledge to encompass pilgrims’ practical skills, spiritual preparedness, and independence. The study concludes that integrated da‘wah management provides an organizational framework for comprehensive and sustainable hajj guidance oriented toward pilgrim independence. Theoretically, the findings extend da‘wah management scholarship into the context of hajj guidance; practically, they provide a reference for KBIHU managers in developing integrated service programs. Future studies should examine multiple KBIHUs using mixed methods to assess service quality, pilgrim satisfaction, and independence more comprehensively.

Abstract

Students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), particularly in ritual prayer (salat) and dhikr, were relatively low at SMP IT Mutiara. This condition was associated with conventional teaching methods that provided limited opportunities for active student engagement. This study evaluated changes in students’ PAI learning outcomes following the implementation of video-based learning. A quantitative pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed, involving 16 seventh-grade students. Data were collected through observations, tests, and documentation and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and paired-samples t-tests in IBM SPSS Statistics 23. The findings demonstrated a substantial improvement in learning outcomes after the intervention. The mean score increased from 59.38 at pretest to 85.62 at posttest, representing a gain of 26.24 points. The paired-samples t-test confirmed that the difference was statistically significant (t = 5.885, p < 0.001). These results indicate that the implementation of video-based learning was associated with improved student achievement in PAI lessons on salat and dhikr. Video-based learning may therefore serve as an engaging, interactive, and contextual instructional medium for topics requiring conceptual understanding and visualization of religious practices. However, because the study employed a one-group design without a comparison group, the findings do not establish causality and should be confirmed through controlled studies with larger samples.
