abdasastra : Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Jawa (Sabdasastra : Journal of Javanese Language Education) is an open-access journal published by Department of Javanese Language Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret. The first issue of 2017 Volume 1 No 1 has ten articles. Sabdasastra has two issues in a year and it will be published in March and September. The focus and scope of this journal are language education, literature, philology, linguistics, culture, and local wisdom in Java.

Abstract

The objectives of research were to describe the social conflict existing in novel Jaring Kalamangga by Suparto Brata and to describe its relevance to be the teaching material of Javanese Letters Appreciation in Senior High Schools.The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Data obtained by using content analysis and interviews with informants. The validity of the data obtained by triangulation and triangulation theory. Sources of data in this study are documents and informants. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. Research procedure includes the preparation phase, the implementation phase and a final stage.The results of the analysis of novel Jaring Kalamangga relating to social conflict shows that; 1) there are four causes of social conflict in the novel Jaring Kalamangga soeparto work Brata. namely crime, family disorganization, problems young people in modern society and violations of the norms of society and 2) novel Jaring Kalamangga soeparto work Brata eligible as an alternative teaching materials Javanese literature appreciation because there is the relevance of social conflicts in it.

Abstract

This research discusses the lexical cohesion analysis contained in the Panjebar Semangat magazine sportcasts in 2019. The aimed of this research is to describe lexical cohesion of the sportscast Panjebar Semangat magazine in 2019. Type of this study is qualitative descriptive research. Source of data in this research consisted of 12 news discourses in the Panjebar Semangat magazines in 2019, journals and references books. Purposive sampling techniques was used as a sampling method. The news discourse under study represented the news of Panjebar Semangat magazine which was published in January-December 2019. The results of this study are lexical cohesion which includes repetition, synonymy, antonym, collocation, hyponym, and equivalence. Lexical cohesion data found after analysed were 147 data. Repetition is the most data found in this study.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan: (1) unsur cerita anak yang ada dalam antologi crikak Kecap Nomer Siji; (2) nilai pendidikan karakter yang ada dalam antologi crikak Kecap Nomer Siji; dan (3) relevansi antologi crikak Kecap Nomer Siji sebagai materi ajar pada kompetensi dasar apresiasi sastra di SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan kualitatif yang dilakukan pada antologi cerita pendek. Populasi penelitian adalah antologi crikak Kecap Nomer Siji karya Zuly Kristanto. Data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah data kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sampling yaitu purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dua teknik, yaitu teknik wawancara terbuka dan analisis dokumen. Teknik yang digunakan untuk uji validitas adalah triangulasi teori dan triangulasi sumber. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model teknik analisis data kualitatif yang meliputi tiga tahap, yaitu: (1) reduksi data; (2) penyajian data; dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: (1) unsur cerita anak pada cerita pendek yang ada dalam antologi crikak Kecap Nomer Siji karya Zuly Kristanto meliputi tokoh, alur cerita, latar, tema, moral, sudut pandang yang menunjukkan keterkaitan antara unsur satu dengan unsur yang lainnya, dan membentuk pola yang merujuk pada kesesuaian dalam pemahaman atau imajinasi anak yang relevan dengan masa kini. (2) pendidikan karakter pada cerita pendek dalam antologi crikak Kecap Nomer Siji karya Zuly Kristanto meliputi bertanggung jawab, kerja keras, rasa ingin tahu, peduli lingkungan, disiplin, mandiri, peduli sosial, toleransi, dan bersahabat/ komunikatif. Setiap judul crikak sekurangnya memiliki dua nilai pendidikan karakter di dalamnya. Nilai pendidikan karakter yang paling dominan dalam crikak tersebut adalah rasa ingin tahu yang muncul sebanyak lima kali pada keseluruhan crikak. Hal tersebut diperoleh melalui wawancara, pengarang sengaja menekankan nilai pendidikan karakter rasa ingin tahu terhadap crikak-crikak-nya;(3) cerita pendek dalam antologi crikak, khusunya Kecap Nomer Siji karya Zuly Kristanto relevan sebagai materi ajar di SMP dengan beberapa faktor pendukung, yaitu isinya yang ditujukan untuk anak, bahasa yang digunakan mudah dipahami, dan bermuatan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter.

Abstract

This research aims to explain (1) the aesthetic element of language that found in the anthology of Javanese poetry “Simbok”; (2) the value of character education that found in the anthology of Javanese poetry “Simbok”; (3) the relevance of Javanese poetry anthology “Simbok” as Javanese language teaching material for grade 9th Junior High School students. This is a descriptive qualitative research that uses document analysis method with a stylistic approach. The data source is a document in the form of an anthology of Javanese poetry “Simbok” and informants who are literary expert. Data collection is done by using documentation and interview techniques, then tested for the validity of the data using source triangulation and technical triangulation. The sequence of data analysis in this research includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and draw the conclusion. The result of this research obtained (1) the findings of language aesthetic elements in the form of the use of basa rinengga including tembung saroja, tembung garba, tembung plutan, tembung mawa aksara lira-liru, keratabasa, tembung entar, paribasan, saloka, cangkriman, dasanama, pepindan, gugontuhon, and purwakanti; (2 )the findings of character education values include religiousity, social, gender, justice, democracy, honesty, self determination, struggling ability, responsibility, and respect for nature; (3) the relevance of Javanese poetry anthology “Simbok” as teaching material for grade 9th Junior High Scool students. Based on the research result, the anthology of Javanese poetry “Simbok” is relevant to be used as Javanese language teaching material in learning to write a Javanese poetry because there are many examples of language aesthetics and character education values that are useful to help students learn to write Javanese poetry.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve being student active and reading comprehensive skill story of Bima Bungkus by applying PQ4R strategy with media PowerPoint among X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali on 2016/2017. The type of this research is a Classroom Action Research, it contains of two cycles. Each cycles consists of four phases, they are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Research subject are teacher and X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali amoung 36 students. Source of data are derived from report, event of learning and document. Data collection techniques that used are interview, observation, test and documentation. Data validity techniques use data data source triangulasion and method triangulasion. Data analyzed techniques use descripstive comparative analysis technique and critical analysis technique. The conclusion of the research is the applying of PQ4R strategy (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) with media PowerPoint can improve being student active and reading comprehension skill of story Bima bungkus among X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali.

Abstract

This research examines the values of kindness in the form of the supreme message of the Javanese contained in the novel Cinencang Lawe, and hence the novel's ability to affect the nation's character. The purpose of this research is to describe the supreme message in Tulus Setiyadi's novel Cinencang Lawe. This researcher utilized a qualitative descriptive method. In this research, there are two sorts of data sources: primary and secondary. The content of the novel Cinencang Lawe serves as the primary data source in this research. Journals, reference books, and the result of informant interviews represent types of secondary data sources. The sample in this research are empirical qualitative data, including passages from the novel Cinencang Lawe, as well as meaningful qualitative data, such as the interpretation of citations obtained from the novel Cinencang Lawe. Purposive sampling was utilized as a sampling method. Content analysis is used as a data collecting tool. The data analysis technique used interactive analysis, which included data collection, data reduction, data display, and verification. The values of the goodness supreme message presented in the novel Cinencang Lawe are the result of this research. The supreme message contains highly noble and amazing cultural values. The values represented in the supreme message can positively impact the nation's character.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) struktur antologi geguritan Ngayawara karya Na Dhien, (2) makna dalam antologi geguritan Ngayawara karya Na Dhien, (3) relevansi antologi geguritan Ngayawara karya Na Dhien sebagai bahan ajar Bahasa Jawa di SMA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode kualitatif deksriptif dan analisis isi, pendekatan struktural dan semiotik. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu: (1) struktur fisik yang ditemukan berupa diksi (kata konotasi, kata sapaan khas atau nama diri, kata serapan, dan kata vulgar), citraan (citraan penglihatan, citraan pendengaran, citraan penciuman, citraan gerak, dan citraan perasaan), kata konkret, bahasa figurative (majas simile, majas metafora, majas perumpamaan epos, majas personifikasi, majas metonimia, majas sinekdoki pars pro toto, dan idiom), versifikasi (purwakanthi guru swara/asonansi, purwakanthi guru sastra/aliterasi, purwakanthi guru basa/lumaksita), dan tipografi konvensional. Sedangakan struktur batin meliputi: tema, perasaan, nada dan suasana, amanat; (2) makna dalam antologi geguritan Ngayawara karya Na Dhien meliputi makna tentang hakikat kehidupan dan hakikat spiritual; (3) antologi geguritan Ngayawara karya Na Dhien sesuai dan layak digunakan untuk bahan ajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Jawa di tingkat SMA, sebab relevan dengan Kurikulum 2013, memenuhi syarat pada aspek bahasa dan isi geguritan untuk bahan ajar geguritan di SMA.

Abstract

This study aims to describe code mixing and code switching on the use of the Javanese language of the Riau transmigrant community. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Data in the form of events in the form of speech acts using Javanese or mixed languages of other languages, as well as the existence of communication between O1 and O2, or the presence of a third party as O3, interviewing informants, and data in the form of documents. The data was obtained by using observation, interview, and recording techniques. The validity of the data is obtained by triangulation of theories, methods, and sources. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used is an interactive analysis model, namely in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study are as follows. The discovery of elements of the Riau language in the use of the Javanese language of the Riau transmigrant community. The mixed forms are in the form of phrases, clauses, idioms, basters and reduplications. As well as the language code shift, the code transition from Javanese to Riau Malay, Javanese to Indonesian, and Riau Malay to Javanese. The code switching occurs due to several factors and more internal types of code switching are found. As well as found deviations in the use of phonological, morphological, and lexicon types of language. This language mixing often occurs because of the multi-lingual environment, the language blends in, integrates between various regional languages. The level of speech that occurs shows the politeness in the environment.

Abstract

Conflict is a special attraction for readers of literary works. Moreover, the conflict experienced by the character. Therefore, an in-depth analysis is needed to find out the inner conflicts contained in a literary work. Novels are a type of literary work that tells the story of people's lives where the conditions for the conflicts of the characters. The purpose of this study is to describe the inner conflict of the character Karsana in the novel Tabon by Margareth Widhy Pratiwi. This research is in the form of a qualitative descriptive using a literary psychology approach. The data of this study are quotes and dialogues contained in the novel Tabon by Margareth Widhy Pratiwi. The sources of data of this study are documents. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used are document analysis. The validity test techniques used are theoretical triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis techniques use interactive analysis techniques. The research procedure includes three stages, namely the preparatory stage, the research implementation stage, and the presentation stage of the research results.  The result of this study is that Karsana figures experience id dominance so that the personality structure in Karsana's character is an unbalanced personality.

Abstract

this research aims to increase learning motivation and fine reading skill of tembang Gambuh through quantum learning model. The form of this research is classroom action research that accomplished as long as 2 cycles, each cycle consist of planning, implementation, action observation, and analysis and reflection. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview, test, and document analysis. The data validity that used is triangulation of source and triangulation method. The result of the research shows that the use of quantum learning model can improve fine reading skill of tembang Gambuh and student learning motivation. That conclusion is shows by these research results: (1) significant improvement in students learning motivation from first cycle 60,6% to 82%  second cycle;(2) the increasment of students fine reading skiil of tembang Gambuh average score  from pre-action 68, to first cycle 74, an to second cycle 80.
