Abstract

Rising raw material costs and global sustainability demands compel MSMEs to shift from linear to circular economic models. However, the economic impact of this transition on small businesses remains debated. This study aims to investigate the effect of circular economy practices on the perceived financial performance of creative MSMEs in Surakarta. This research offers novelty by challenging the stigma that sustainability practices are merely cost burdens, highlighting their potential for efficiency instead. Employing a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected through a survey of 73 MSME practitioners and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results demonstrate that circular economy practices have a positive and significant effect on perceived financial performance at the 10% level, with a dominant path coefficient of 0.656. Empirically, the adoption of reduce, reuse, and recycle principles proves to be a resource efficiency mechanism capable of enhancing profitability. This study recommends that MSME owners integrate waste management and material efficiency as core business strategies for long-term business sustainability.

Abstract

In the current competitive business environment, understanding the key financial factors that drive profitability is critical for effective management and decision-making. This study investigates the influence of working capital, business revenue, and operating cost on the net profit. The study employs multiple linear regression analysis using IBM SPSS software to assess the relationships between the variables. The findings reveal that working capital, business revenue, and operating expenses simultaneously have a significant impact on net profit. However, the partial test results show that only business revenue has a statistically significant effect on net profit, while working capital and operating expenses do not demonstrate a significant influence. These results indicate that the cooperative’s profitability is more strongly driven by its ability to generate revenue from business activities rather than by the level of working capital or operating expenses alone. The study concludes that increasing and maintaining stable business revenue plays a key role in improving financial performance. The implications of this research suggest that cooperative managers should focus on strengthening revenue-generating activities and business operations to support sustainable profitability and long-term financial stability.

Abstract

The booming coffee industry in Yogyakarta, home to 41 campuses, has driven the opening of 533 coffee shops in strategic locations, making them lifestyle hubs, social spaces, and productivity centers for students and the urban community. This study aims to determine whether lifestyle, cafe atmosphere, and word of mouth influence purchasing decisions in choosing a coffee shop in Yogyakarta. This study used a quantitative associative-causal survey with 130 coffee shop consumers in Yogyakarta, sampled via convenience sampling. Data were collected online through a 1–5 Likert questionnaire and analyzed in SPSS 27 using validity/reliability tests, classical assumption checks, t-tests, F-tests, R², and multiple linear regression. The results showed that lifestyle significantly influenced purchasing decisions, but the cafe atmosphere had a negative and significant effect on purchasing decisions, and word of mouth was proven to significantly influence purchasing decisions. Simultaneously, the variables of lifestyle, cafe atmosphere, and word of mouth significantly influence purchasing decisions. These results indicate that lifestyle, cafe atmosphere, and word of mouth, if managed properly, will increase purchasing decisions in all coffee shops in the city of Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Stunting remains a serious public health problem in Indonesia, affecting children’s physical growth, cognitive development, and long-term productivity. The central government issued Presidential Regulation No. 72 of 2021 on the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction, targeting a national prevalence rate of 14% by 2024. However, a gap persists between das sollen (normative regulation) and das sein (implementation reality), where local governments face challenges such as limited budgets, weak cross-sectoral coordination, and suboptimal institutional capacity. Gowa Regency, as one of the priority loci for stunting reduction, is essential to study in the context of synchronization between national and local regulations. The main problem addressed in this study is the suboptimal synchronization between national and local regulations in accelerating stunting reduction in Gowa Regency. This condition leads to inconsistencies between national policy directions and program implementation at the local level, potentially hindering the achievement of national targets. This study aims to assess the alignment between Presidential Regulation No. 72 of 2021 and Gowa Regent Regulation No. 5 of 2023 using a normative juridical method with vertical and horizontal synchronization approaches. The results indicate that the synchronization of regulations in Gowa Regency is high in normative aspects but remains limited in technical implementation. Although stunting prevalence decreased from 33% in 2022 to 17% in 2024, the figure remains above the national target. The study suggests strengthening adaptive synchronization through cross-sectoral data integration, performance-based budgeting, and institutional capacity enhancement to accelerate sustainable stunting reduction.

Abstract

Medical professionals face increasing legal challenges due to allegations of malpractice, highlighting the need for clear legal protection mechanisms. This study aims to provide legal protection for medical professionals who deliver medical services in accordance with professional standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), based on a case study of the Makassar District Court Decision Number 1441/Pid.Sus/2019/PN Mks. The research employs a normative juridical method with a qualitative approach and doctrinal analysis of the court decision. Data sources consist of primary and secondary legal materials, which are analyzed descriptively, comparatively, and interpretatively. The findings indicate that the defendant was acquitted of all charges due to a lack of legally convincing evidence of a law violation and the absence of a final decision from the Indonesian Medical Disciplinary Honorary Council regarding professional misconduct. The application of the principle lex specialis derogat legi generali serves as the legal basis, establishing that Law Number 29 of 2004 concerning Medical Practice takes precedence over general criminal provisions, such as Article 360 of the Indonesian Criminal Code. The study concludes that medical personnel should receive legal protection as long as medical actions are performed in accordance with applicable professional standards, operational procedures, and professional ethics.

Abstract

The quality of Islamic education in Indonesia faces significant challenges amid globalization, modernization, and rapid digital transformation. Current quality orientations emphasize technical-administrative standards and academic achievement, which do not fully reflect the core objectives of Islamic education. Therefore, a holistic, value-based reorientation of the quality paradigm grounded in Islamic principles is necessary. This study aims to identify the major challenges affecting the quality of Islamic education in the modern era, examine the urgency of a value-based paradigm reorientation, and formulate strategic directions for sustainable quality development along with their implications for educational policy and practice. This research employs a qualitative approach through a library research design, drawing on books, journal articles, and relevant academic literature. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis to synthesize key ideas and findings. The results reveal several major challenges, including curriculum dualism between religious and general sciences, limited innovation in learning practices, disparities in the quality of human resources, and weaknesses in institutional governance. The study concludes that reorienting the quality paradigm toward character formation, spiritual development, and the integration of Islamic values with science and technology is essential to strengthen the relevance and sustainability of Islamic education in contemporary society.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing importance of moderate religious communication as a diplomatic strategy to address rising global conflicts, particularly the Israel–Palestine issue. It aims to analyze how moderate religious communication was employed by President Prabowo Subianto in his speech at the 2025 United Nations General Assembly as an instrument of Indonesia’s diplomacy in supporting peaceful solutions. The research applies a qualitative approach using diplomatic discourse analysis, examining the verbal messages, symbolic expressions, and humanitarian values conveyed in the speech. The findings show that Prabowo applied a moderate communication strategy using simple and peaceful language, interfaith greetings, and an emphasis on universal humanitarian values that position all humankind as one global family. The main results highlight that religious moderation serves as a foundation of Indonesia’s diplomacy, reflected in the rejection of extremism, support for the two-state solution, and calls to build global solidarity based on justice and human dignity. This approach strengthens Indonesia’s position as a credible mediator in the Palestine issue by promoting tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and non-violent values. The study implies that moderate religious communication can serve as an effective diplomatic model for multicultural countries in reducing international conflict, building global trust, and reinforcing Indonesia’s soft power in the modern geopolitical landscape.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing consumer boycott movement against brands associated with the Israel Palestinian conflict, particularly unilever products, and the gap between publicly expressed boycott intentions and actual consumer behavior. The study aims to analyze the effects of boycott attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on boycott participation, with boycott intention as a mediating variable within the theory of planned behavior framework. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey-based questionnaire administered to 120 respondents in Semarang City who had boycotted Unilever products within the past month. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling, and data were analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results indicate that boycott attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control do not have a significant direct effect on boycott participation. However, these variables have a positive and significant effect on boycott intention, which subsequently has a significant effect on boycott participation and mediates the relationship between psychological factors and actual boycott behavior. This study concludes that boycott intention plays a crucial mediating role in explaining consumer boycott participation and confirms the relevance of the Theory of Planned Behavior in understanding moral and political boycott behavior toward fast moving consumer goods brands in developing countries.

Abstract

Tourism plays a crucial role in supporting economic growth and regional development, particularly in optimizing local potential and increasing community income. However, understanding the factors that influence tourists’ visiting decisions remains essential to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of tourism destinations. This research aims to analyze the influence of destination image and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) on tourists’ decisions to visit Kaligua Nature Tourism in Brebes Regency. The study applied a quantitative survey method involving 271 respondents, and the data were processed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that destination image exerts a positive and statistically significant impact on visiting decisions. Similarly, e-WOM demonstrates a positive and significant effect on tourists’ decisions to visit. The R-square result indicates that 73.4% of the variation in visiting decisions can be explained by the independent variables included in the model. These results highlight the importance of maintaining a favorable destination image and leveraging digital information channels to stimulate tourists’ visiting intentions. Accordingly, destination managers are encouraged to enhance the destination’s image and maximize digital marketing strategies.
