Abstract

Mina Sida Karya Fish Cultivation Group (POKDAKAN) operates in Sidamulih Village, Rawalo District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, employing an extensive, traditional fish farming system that yields low productivity. This group faces four significant challenges that necessitate attention: (1) Insufficient knowledge and skills among partners in intensive gourami fish farming management to enhance POKDAKAN Mina Sida Karya's productivity; (2) Lack of a consistent water supply for cultivation throughout the year; (3) Limited knowledge in producing cost-effective natural and artificial feed; (4) Inadequate expertise in marketing partner products, resulting in a restricted market reach. Addressing these challenges, service activities have been implemented using Participatory Learning and Action (PLA).  These include (1) providing assistance and training in intensive gourami fish farming management to boost cultivation productivity; (2) drilling boreholes up to 75 meters deep to secure a year-round water source; (3) conducting training sessions on independent feed production, both artificial and natural Daphnia sp., enabling partners to generate their own feed; (4) establishing digital branding systems through social media platforms to expand market presence. This aims to increase the productivity of the Mina Sida Karya Fish Farming Group. The activities that have been carried out have significantly impacted the Mina Sida Karya POKDAKAN with a percentage of 57.14% of participants stating that they have sufficient knowledge about intensive osphronemus gouramy fish farming, 61.90% stating that they have no difficulty in obtaining water supply, 52.38% stating that they know how to produce efficient and cost-effective natural feed, and 66.67% stating that they are satisfied with the market reach of fish products.

Abstract

The congregation of GMIT Efata Liliba is located in the Liliba neighborhood, approximately 5.4 kilometers away from Artha Wacana Christian University, with a travel distance of around 11-15 minutes by land. In recent years, women and children in this area have been experiencing domestic violence (KDRT). Furthermore, there has been a growing trend of such incidents each year, including among female pastors within the church. Recognizing the challenges faced by this partner community, the PkM UKAW team took the initiative to approach them and discuss related issues, such as: 1) The church has not yet found a theological solution to the problem where domestic violence is accepted as fate and destiny. 2) The church often encounters difficulties in providing pastoral support to KDRT victims. 3) Legal assistance for victims is still very limited because the church struggles to explain and provide legal counseling and advocacy to victims. Based on the previously discussed problems and proposed solutions with our partners, the following technological interventions will be implemented: (1) The importance of correct theological understanding for husbands or perpetrators to minimize KDRT actions. (2) Partners will be provided with knowledge and skills for pastoral counseling to assist them in addressing the difficulties in providing pastoral support to victims. (3) Partners   will also be trained in how to provide legal assistance to KDRT victims. This solution is urgently needed to address community issues.

Abstract

Most of the waste produced by rural households is organic waste, which must be disposed of immediately because it rots quickly, emits an unpleasant odor, and can be a source of disease. Implementing a community-based circular economy at the village level can solve the accumulation of organic waste in rural areas. This circular economy model encourages downstream waste processing, thereby generating economic value. A circular economy that delivers significant financial benefits will make waste processing sustainable. Senden Village, located in Mungkid District, Magelang Regency, is one such village that has a local waste collection site (TPS). Its primary issue is the lack of techniques for processing waste, particularly organic waste, into quality products that are useful and have market value. Therefore, this Research Group Service initiative aims to develop the application of a circular economy for managing organic waste by producing organic fertilizers enriched with biological agents. The organic fertilizers produced will be highly quality and competitive in the market, thereby providing an alternative productive economic activity for the people of Senden Village. Organic waste processing into commercial products can be sustainable if it offers financial incentives for the community. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically goals 2, 3, and 12.

Abstract

Klaten Regency is one of the regencies in Indonesia that has a high risk of natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides. People with disabilities are among the groups that are particularly vulnerable to these natural disasters. According to data from Working Group of Special School Principals Klaten Regency, there are five special schools that have been affected by natural disasters, specifically earthquakes, which puts individuals with disabilities at a significant risk of becoming victims. Therefore, it is essential to implement disaster mitigation strategies that involve persons with disabilities as part of disaster risk management. In light of this issue, knowledge transfer related to disaster mitigation is necessary for special school teachers. To enhance effectiveness, technology transfer and the diffusion of science and technology will be based on the SIPAKDEDIFA application. This initiative aims to improve the understanding of Special School Teachers in using the SIPAKDEDIFA application which in turn provides science and technology diffusion to students with disabilities which is expected to optimise students' understanding of disaster mitigation. The methods implemented included socialization, training, technology application, mentoring, and evaluation. The evaluation utilized a pre-test and post-test given to special needs students to assess their understanding of disaster mitigation. The results indicated that special school teachers effectively participated in all activities, and the assistance provided at special school demonstrated that teachers optimally implemented the SIPAKDEDIFA application. The results of the pre-test and post-test to teachers related to knowledge and understanding of the SIPAKDEDIFA application have increased significantly and the results of the pre-test and post-test obtained from students show a very significant increase in the results of knowledge of earthquake, landslide and volcano disaster mitigation with an average score increase of 32.83 points or in percentage of 67.38%. This indicates that the activities had a positive impact on both teachers and special school students in Klaten Regency, ultimately improving disaster mitigation efforts and minimizing losses due to disasters. Based on this research, it is hoped that relevant parties will pay more attention to educating students with disabilities about natural disaster mitigation.

The results showed an increase in knowledge of participants about the benefits of butterfly pea flowers and the techniques for making cendol. In addition, the participants' enthusiasm for the training is very high, although some challenges, such as a decline in participants' motivation, were addressed with interventions like cheers and door prizes. This socialization is expected to motivate the PKK members  to continue developing innovations in food and beverage preparation, as well as to promote the use of natural ingredients that are beneficial for health. Abstract

Gender issues are not unfamiliar around Indonesian people. However, it does not mean that everyone in Indonesia understands the issues. For this problem, an understanding about gender issues is needed and the target of this community service program is students of SMAN 5 Purwokerto.  The SMAN 5 Purwokerto students are the target for this activity as the method that is used for this community service is photovoice, a literacy method that uses photo and caption which are suitable for their age. This community service aims at raising understanding and awareness about gender issues to the young generation to prevent gender discrepancy. By giving materials about gender issues, writing captions, photography training, and mentoring, the result of this program is the SMAN 5 Purwokerto students' understanding  regarding gender issues. This result is proven by their answers on pretest and post-test which were given before and after the program. The pretest results showed that there were some students who did not understand the terms and descriptions related to gender issues (20%), while the post-test results showed that all students could provide and explain photovoice with gender issues (100%). This shows that the photovoice activity was successful in improving students' understanding of gender issues.
