Abstract

The dichotomy between religious and secular sciences within the Islamic intellectual tradition has led to a stagnation of thought and a weakened ability to respond to contemporary challenges holistically. This study aims to critically examine the integration-interconnection paradigm proposed by Prof. Amin Abdullah as a framework for reconstructing a holistic and contextual Islamic epistemology. Employing a qualitative approach, the research applies library research and content analysis methods on his primary works and related literature. The findings reveal that Amin Abdullah’s paradigm, illustrated through a “spider web” metaphor, emphasizes the interrelatedness between religious, social, and natural sciences. His integration of three epistemological approaches—bayani (textual), burhani (rational), and irfani (spiritual)—provides a dialogical framework for contextual Islamic understanding. The paradigm proves relevant in addressing contemporary issues such as the environmental crisis through multidisciplinary engagement that bridges revelation and empirical science. These findings affirm Amin Abdullah's significant contribution to the development of an inclusive, transformative, and context-responsive Islamic scientific paradigm. Keywords: Knowledge integration; interconnection; Amin Abdullah; Islamic epistemology; religious and scientific knowledge; contemporary issues.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Community-Based Independent Curriculum Implementation (IKM-BK) Training Model in improving Madrasah performance. The research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and participatory observations, and analyzed descriptively using frequency tables. In general, the IKM-BK training model has proven effective in enhancing madrasah performance, particularly in terms of collaboration, community partnership, and the availability of updated curriculum-related documents aligned with the Independent Curriculum. The training has also successfully facilitated and accelerated the scaling out of training to mentored madrasahs, proving to be more effective than traditional, non-community-based training models. However, the training model appears less effective in addressing teachers' resistance to changing and adapting their teaching habits in classrooms. Using a 4-point scale for each aspect of madrasah performance, the training was found to have the greatest impact on the availability of curriculum-related documents for teachers and madrasahs, with an average score of 3.66. Meanwhile, the lowest impact was observed in classroom teaching changes, with an average score of 3.44, indicating resistance to curriculum changes despite training and mentoring efforts.  Among the four supporting elements, the participation levels were as follows: lecturers (75%), educational staff from Penmad (87%), supervisors (98%), and widyaiswara (100%). A total of 81% of target madrasahs successfully completed the assigned products, which was largely attributable to the efforts of the mentors and the support of madrasah leadership. Additionally, 75% of madrasahs participating in IKM-BK training successfully scaled out the training to their mentored madrasahs. Abstract

Basic Training (Latsar) for Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) is a critical element in developing the competencies of Indonesia's civil servants. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a blended learning approach in improving learning outcomes of Latsar participants based on their domicile, either domestically or abroad. A quantitative approach was employed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Data were collected from 158 participants of the 2024 BRIN CPNS Latsar program and analyzed through independent sample t-tests and binary logistic regression. The findings reveal that participants residing abroad achieved significantly higher scores in independent learning (MOOC), whereas domestic participants performed better in actualization reports. No significant differences were found in e-learning, classical training, or actualization design seminars. Logistic regression results indicate that only the actualization report assessment significantly influenced participants’ graduation outcomes. These results highlight the importance of tailored support for overseas participants and the essential role of mentors and coaches in guiding actualization-based learning. Abstract

Scientific and digital literacies are essential 21st-century competencies that play a crucial role in supporting innovative learning processes. The digitalization of instructional media has emerged as a strategic approach to enhance students' scientific literacy. This study aims to systematically review existing literature investigating the impact of digital learning media on scientific literacy from 2021 to 2024. A systematic literature review method was employed using the PRISMA protocol, with Google Scholar as the primary database and keywords “digital” and “scientific literacy.” Out of 83 initial articles, 32 met the inclusion criteria after screening. The findings indicate that the most frequently used media in fostering scientific literacy were digital comics (7 articles), e-modules (6 articles), and digital posters (3 articles). These media have demonstrated effectiveness in improving conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and student engagement. The review concludes that digital learning media contribute positively to the development of scientific literacy and are highly relevant for integration into 21st-century education practices. Keywords: digitalization; instructional media; scientific literacy; PRISMA; systematic review

Abstract

Internalisation of religious values in learning materials for students is critical for producing generations that are aligned with national educational aims. The study aims to examine the religious values included in ecosystem material used in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a document analysis technique. Data were gathered from the grade 5 IPAS textbook, the Merdeka Curriculum Guide, and Islamic literature including the Qur'an, hadith, and pertinent scientific papers. The investigation was conducted by identifying ecological features such as food chains, living creature interactions, and environmental balance that are related to religious principles. The results showed that ecosystem material can be used to instill students' understanding of the importance of maintaining the balance of the ecosystem as a form of worship and responsibility for God's creation. Ecosystem material discusses the relationship between living things and their environment, has great potential to be integrated with Islamic values, such as the balance of nature (mizan), cooperation (ta'awun), human responsibility as khalifah, and compassion for living things (rahmah). This study recommends the development of teaching materials that explicitly link ecosystem concepts with Islamic values to create more meaningful learning.Keywords: ecosystem; religious values; IPAS; independent curriculum; integrative education

Abstract

The paper seeks to show how the Kirab Sedekah Bumi tradition exemplifies moderate religious values. The research focuses on how this tradition employs moderate religious principles to promote ecumenical collaboration between Muslims, Christians, and Confucians. This study adopts a qualitative descriptive method using data gathering procedures including observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis consists of data gathering, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Kirab Sedekah Bumi tradition does not pose a problem due to differing religious backgrounds.  Instead, it serves as a bridge to unite the diverse community of Getas Pejaten Village, strengthening interfaith brotherhood.  The kirab sedekah bumi tradition fosters moderate religious values such as tolerance, cooperation and mutual assistance, balance between spiritual and social life, gratitude, and appreciation for cultural heritage.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the integration of religious moderation values within Indonesia’s national education curriculum, both in general education institutions under the Ministry of Education and Culture and in religious institutions under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This study is motivated by the need to strengthen moderate religious character in response to the rising threat of radicalism and intolerance in educational environments. Employing a qualitative method through a descriptive-analytical approach of curriculum policy documents and institutional practices, this article finds that the Merdeka Curriculum and its projects—Pancasila Student Profile (P5) and the Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin Student Profile (PPRA)—have incorporated religious moderation values. These include tolerance, civility, balance, and openness to diversity. The findings show that although the curriculum accommodates these values, challenges remain in its implementation, particularly regarding teacher competence, teaching resources, and the influence of digital information. Therefore, the article recommends strengthening teacher training, regulating digital religious content, and fostering synergy between government, schools, and communities to embed inclusive and moderate religious values in the curriculum. Keywords: Religious Moderation; National Curriculum; Character Education; Pancasila Student Profile; Islamic Education

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of nuclear training in enhancing participants’ competencies and its relationship with the licensing examination pass rate. The research involved 98 civil servants who attended various nuclear training programs conducted by DPK BRIN in 2024. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a paired sample t-test to assess differences between pre- and post-test scores, Spearman correlation to analyze the relationship between training improvement and remedial examinations, and binary logistic regression to evaluate the effects of age, gender, and educational background on licensing success. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ competencies after training and a significant negative correlation between training achievement and the frequency of remedial licensing exams. Age was found to significantly influence licensing success, while gender and educational background had no substantial effect. The study concludes that nuclear training is effective in improving competencies and facilitating licensing exam success, with practical implications for curriculum design, blended learning strategies, and human resource development policies in the nuclear sector. Keywords: nuclear training; effectiveness; competency; licensing examination

Abstract

The development of civil servants’ (ASN) competencies is a fundamental pillar for supporting bureaucratic reform and improving the quality of public services. This study aims to analyze strategies for optimizing competency development services for ASN at the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, emphasizing the role of strategic management, ASN motivation, and technology integration. Employing a qualitative approach through a systematic literature review, this study examines academic articles, policy reports, and official statistical data from the last five years, reinforced by SWOT analysis and data triangulation. Theoretical perspectives of strategic management and change management serve as analytical frameworks to understand the interrelation among variables. The findings reveal that the application of strategic management through needs-based planning and evaluation instruments such as the Balanced Scorecard enhances training effectiveness; intrinsic motivation of ASN has a stronger influence than extrinsic incentives in fostering participation; and the use of e-learning technologies increases training access and participation up to 90%, although challenges of digital literacy remain. Moreover, the rise in ASN participation in training is strongly linked to policy reforms that mandate competency development as part of bureaucratic transformation. This study recommends an integrative strategy that synergizes strategic management, motivation, and digital technology to support systemic transformation of ASN competency development services. Academically, future research should include quantitative studies to empirically test variable relationships, comparative analyses across government institutions, and the development of an integrative theoretical framework combining change management, work motivation, and digital learning theories. These findings are expected to contribute to the academic literature while serving as practical guidance for policymakers in accelerating competency-based bureaucratic reform. Keywords: competency development; strategic management; motivation; e-learning; bureaucratic reform

Abstract

This study aims to analyze gender issues in community development by highlighting the role and participation of women in Indonesia. Gender inequality remains a serious barrier to inclusive development, particularly in terms of access to education, employment, health services, and political representation. The research employs a descriptive mixed methods approach, combining document analysis and secondary quantitative data. Qualitative data were obtained from policy documents and reports published by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, the Central Bureau of Statistics, and international organizations. Meanwhile, quantitative data, including the Gender Development Index (GDI), Gender Empowerment Index (GEI), and indicators of women’s participation in various development sectors, were utilized to illustrate the factual conditions. The analysis is grounded in the theoretical framework of gender and development, which emphasizes equal access and opportunities as prerequisites for sustainable development. The findings reveal that although there has been progress in women’s participation, structural gaps remain significant, particularly those shaped by cultural norms and gender stereotypes. Gender mainstreaming policies have been introduced, yet their implementation at the local level remains limited. This study concludes that gender mainstreaming should be regarded as a key strategy for community development in Indonesia. Future research is recommended to examine best practices of gender mainstreaming at the local level and to conduct comparative studies across regions to identify effective patterns. Thus, this study contributes to strengthening the discourse on gender equality while providing empirical foundations for the formulation of more inclusive development policies. Keywords: gender equality; community development; women’s participation; gender mainstreaming; Indonesia
