Abstract

Religious moderation is an essential character education strategy that emphasizes tolerance and respect for diversity. In the internet age, cyberbullying is a severe concern that threatens moderate ideals. With the increased use of social media, adolescents are frequently exposed to online bullying, which fosters an intolerant climate. This has the potential to hinder constructive character development among students. This study investigates the link between religious moderation and tolerance in a digital setting, offering fresh insights into how religious principles might be used to combat online bullying behavior. The goal of this research is to look at how religious moderation might help students build their character while also promoting internet tolerance. This study used a descriptive qualitative strategy, with interviews and observations serving as the primary data-gathering methods. From the findings, it can be inferred that students who participate in religious moderation programs are more tolerant, capable of countering bullying behavior, and more accepting of diversity. Religious moderation-based education in the digital age is critical not just for preventing cyberbullying, but also for raising a more accepting and character-driven generation. Keywords: Religious moderation; student character; cyberbullying; cybertolerance; education

Abstract

The industrial revolution 4.0 has transformed life paradigms by integrating digital and physical technologies, requiring problem-solving to be precise, accurate, and grounded in scientific methods. This era faces significant challenges from the growing ideology of materialism, which emphasizes empirical values as the center of existence. Consequently, realities beyond the material realm, including the existence of God, are often dismissed, posing a serious threat to Indonesian society, where belief in God forms the philosophical foundation of national life. This study employs a library research method to investigate the roots of declining religious attitudes globally, partly driven by the widespread influence of materialism. Through an ontological approach, the study finds that materialism emerged as a critique of mythocentric views and speculative science. However, from an Islamic perspective, reality is not confined to the material; immaterial entities are equally real and integral to human life. Islamic logic points to a causal relationship where all existence must originate from a primary cause—the All-Existent (God). Thus, materialism's rejection of God stems from its limited understanding of existence as purely material. Keywords: materialism; ontology; islamic perspective

Abstract

This study investigates the urgency of environmental education in elementary schools to develop students' environmental awareness and character. Using a library research methodology, the analysis draws upon academic articles, policy documents, and reports to explore the theoretical underpinnings and practical implementations of environmental education. The study employs an interdisciplinary approach rooted in educational and environmental theories, such as Tilbury's sustainable education framework and Palmer-Cooper's multidimensional environmental education model. Findings highlight that integrating environmental education into the curriculum fosters cognitive, affective, and behavioral awareness among students, enabling them to connect their actions to broader ecological systems. Project-based learning (PjBL), extracurricular activities, and community collaborations emerge as effective methods for instilling environmental values and practical skills. For example, direct student involvement in waste segregation, tree planting, and energy conservation projects has proven to enhance environmental responsibility and empathy. Furthermore, deficiencies in national policies and infrastructure are identified as barriers to effective environmental education. The study concludes that environmental education at the elementary level is crucial for developing a generation committed to sustainable practices. Recommendations include incorporating environmental education across curricula, training teachers in innovative methods, and enhancing school-community partnerships. These measures aim to transform environmental education into a cultural cornerstone, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and character to address global environmental challenges effectively. Keywords: Environmental Education; Character Development; Elementary School; Sustainability; Project-Based Learning

Abstract

This study aims to analyze netizen responses on Instagram to Rina Nose's decision to remove her hijab. Drawing on the secularism theory developed by Jose Casanova, which highlights three different connotations of secularism, the research seeks to explore netizen response patterns, identify key themes that emerge from the comments, and examine how social media platforms, particularly Instagram, have become a significant arena for public discussion and debate on religious issues. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected from comments posted on Rina Nose's Instagram account (@rinanose16) using the ExportComment application and analyzed with Microsoft Excel. The comments were categorized into five main groups: praise, criticism, support, rejection, and rebuttal. The findings reveal a diverse range of responses, with a relatively even distribution across the categories of support, criticism, rejection, praise, and rebuttal. These results reflect the complexity of Indonesian society’s views on religious issues and personal identity in the digital era. The study provides valuable insights into how social media, especially Instagram, serves as an essential space for public debate on socio-religious matters. Furthermore, the study can serve as a foundation for future research on the role of social media in shaping public opinion and expressing religious perspectives. As one of the first studies to specifically analyze netizen reactions on Instagram to a public figure's decision to remove the hijab, this research makes an important contribution to the literature on religion and social media in Indonesia. Keywords: Hijab; Instagram; Social Media; Netizen; Sosio-Religius
