Abstract

The misuse of residence permits by foreign nationals (WNA) in Indonesia is a critical issue that impacts public order and national sovereignty. This study aims to analyze the forms of residence permit abuse by foreign nationals from an immigration law perspective, and the legal actions imposed under Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. This study uses a normative legal research type. Normative legal research focuses on the study of legal principles, norms, and applicable laws and regulations. The results show that misuse of residence permits includes overstaying, working without permission, document falsification, and fake marriages. Legal actions include administrative sanctions such as deportation and fines, as well as criminal sanctions for serious violations. Although regulations are adequate, law enforcement is not optimal due to weak inter-agency coordination and a lack of deterrent effect. Therefore, strengthened supervision, firm criminal enforcement, and cross-sectoral cooperation are needed.

Abstract

One of the processed fishery products is se'i fish. Se'i is smoked meat processed traditionally using a smoking method with firewood and kosambi leaves. This study aims to identify the presence of Salmonella sp. and Escherichia coli bacteria in se'i tuna (Thunnus albacares) with salt treatment, as well as to evaluate factors that influence product safety. Tuna se'i samples were treated with coarse and fine salt additions with variations of 5 g and 10 g, as well as a control without salt. Bacterial identification was carried out using standard microbiological methods. The results showed that all samples, both control and salt treatment, were negative for Salmonella sp. and E. coli. This indicates that salt variation did not affect the results because all samples did not contain these bacteria. The dominant influencing factor was the use of garlic as a seasoning that contains allicin compounds with antibacterial properties that can inhibit the growth of spoilage bacteria. In addition, the packaging aspect plays an important role in improving the safety, quality, and competitiveness of se'i tuna products because it is safe for consumption and has great potential as a traditional specialty product.

Abstract

Globalization has become one of the most influential forces shaping political and social policies in Indonesia, producing both opportunities and challenges for national sovereignty, governance, and cultural identity. This research aims to analyze how globalization influences Indonesia’s political and social policies and to examine the extent to which Indonesia demonstrates agency in responding to global pressures. Employing a qualitative research design, the study was conducted from June to August 2025 in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bandung, with data collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis. Findings reveal that globalization has strongly influenced political reforms such as decentralization, democratization, and human rights policies, while also shaping social policies in education, cultural preservation, and social welfare. At the same time, Indonesia demonstrates a dual and hybrid approach, selectively adopting global norms while maintaining national priorities and local identity. Globalization has also generated paradoxical effects, fostering openness and innovation while simultaneously stimulating cultural resistance, social inequality, and identity reassertion. The study concludes that Indonesia exemplifies adaptive globalization, negotiating global pressures with local values and strategic interests. This research contributes theoretically by integrating political and social perspectives in the globalization discourse and practically by providing insights for policymakers to design inclusive, culturally sensitive, and context-responsive policies.

Abstract

Background: The International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes (the Code), adopted by the World Health Assembly in 1981, remains a cornerstone in protecting breastfeeding from inappropriate commercial influence. Purpos of study: This study aims to evaluate the combined use of case study and policy analysis methods in enhancing midwifery students’ understanding of the Code. Methods: This qualitative study applied a dual-method approach case study and policy analysis to enhance student understanding of the Code within the context of Indonesia. Case reports of Code violations were documented by midwifery students through field assignments, while a policy analysis component utilized lecture materials, government regulations (PP 33/2012; Ministry of Health regulation 39/2013), and WHO/UNICEF guidance. Results: Findings demonstrate that combining case-based learning with structured policy analysis significantly improved students’ ability to identify Code breaches, link them to specific articles, and recommend appropriate reporting and advocacy measures. This approach not only strengthened academic learning but also fostered professional advocacy skills. Conclusion: The study concludes that integrating case study and policy analysis into midwifery curricula can be an effective pedagogical model to prepare health professionals as protectors of breastfeeding rights in line with international and national commitments.

Abstract

In rural areas of Indonesia, such as Nagari Batagak, West Sumatra, limited access to health services emphasizes the need for promotive and preventive interventions. The program aims to increase awareness of regular health check-ups and the prevention of degenerative diseases. The program method was implemented on June 16, 2025, involving 35 elderly people aged 60–80 years in Jorong Sawah Liek, Nagari Batagak, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Activities included basic health checks (blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Mass Index, mid-upper arm circumference), nutritional screening (MNA), sarcopenia screening (SARC-F and handgrip strength), and cognitive screening (MMSE). Health education was provided on healthy aging, nutrition, rational drug use, and sarcopenia prevention. Data analysis was conducted using frequency distribution, univariate, and bivariate analyses. The results showed that the majority of participants were aged 60–70 years (71.4%) and female (82.9%). Obesity was not significantly associated with blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, or uric acid levels. However, older adults without obesity remain at risk for hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and hyperuricemia. Handgrip strength testing showed that 56% of participants experienced muscle weakness, with a slightly higher prevalence in men (60%) than in women (55%). These findings indicate a high risk of sarcopenia, which increases susceptibility to mobility limitations and the risk of falls. Therefore, community-based health screening and education are important regardless of obesity status.

Abstract

The legal profession in Indonesia plays a crucial role in maintaining justice and upholding the law. Advocates are required to uphold integrity, honesty, and responsibility through adherence to a professional code of ethics. This study aims to analyze the role of the advocate code of ethics in maintaining professional integrity and ensuring legal justice. The research method used is a normative juridical approach, with a literature analysis of various regulations, codes of ethics, and previous research findings. The results indicate that the code of ethics serves as a guideline for behavior, a supervisory instrument, and a means of maintaining public trust in the legal profession. The discussion confirms the positive impact of implementing the code of ethics on public trust, although its implementation still faces obstacles such as a weak Honorary Council, limited enforcement, and fragmentation of advocate organizations. Strengthening efforts are carried out through ethics-based legal education, ongoing development, institutional reform, and public involvement.
