Abstract

This study aims to reveal the dynamics of relations between ethnic groups in the context of multicultural secondary education in Indonesia. This qualitative study was conducted through a case study approach in one of the state schools in West Java that has high ethnic diversity. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the study indicate complex interactions between students from various ethnic backgrounds, which reflect both processes of integration and social exclusion. Several social mechanisms such as stereotypes, cultural segregation, and majority dominance structures were identified as factors shaping these dynamics. These findings indicate the need for a more multiculturalist-aware educational approach and school policy interventions that promote racial and ethnic justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of students for the development of Student Worksheets (LKPD) integrated with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach on circulatory system materials for Phase F students. Data was obtained through interviews with biology teachers and the distribution of questionnaires to 33 students in grade XI of SMA Negeri 3 Pariaman. The results of the study show that the LKPD that has been used has not adopted the STEAM approach, tends to be monotonous, and has not been able to optimally meet the learning styles and needs of students. Students show a high interest in Biology and want learning media that is interactive, visual, and uses language that is easy to understand. As many as 100% of respondents expressed interest in STEAM-based LKPD, especially for circulatory system materials that are considered difficult and complex. Thus, the results of this analysis become an important basis for the development of relevant and innovative LKPDs to support fun and meaningful 21st century learning.

Abstract

Early reading skills are an important foundation in the development of elementary school students' literacy, especially grade I, which includes letter recognition, phonemes, syllable formation, and reading simple words and sentences. However, the reality in the field shows that many students face difficulties in mastering these skills due to monotonous teaching methods and lack of learning stimulation from the environment. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using flashcard media as a visual and interactive aid in improving early reading skills. The method used is qualitative research with a literature study approach, which collects data from various sources of scientific journals, academic books, and research reports. The results of the discussion show that flashcards are effective in improving visual memory, phonics mastery, and active student participation in learning. Flashcards also help teachers apply differentiation strategies according to student abilities. The obstacles faced, such as time constraints and differences in learning speed, can be overcome by utilizing digital flashcards and an adaptive approach. The conclusion of this study is that flashcard media has proven to be a creative, fun, and solution-oriented learning medium for building early reading skills in grade I elementary school students, while supporting the strengthening of national literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine efforts to improve elementary school students’ vocabulary writing skills through the use of flash card learning media. The background of this research arises from the problem of students’ low writing skills, particularly in vocabulary mastery. Many students struggle to construct sentences due to limited vocabulary, low interest in writing, and monotonous teaching methods that fail to actively engage learners. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method by analyzing various theories and previous research findings from academic journals, books, and relevant articles. The results indicate that using flash cards is proven to be effective in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery. Flash cards present visual information, such as images and words, which capture students' attention, facilitate understanding, and strengthen memory retention of new vocabulary. In addition, flash cards encourage active student participation because they can be integrated into fun learning activities such as word games, group discussions, and writing exercises. Through the application of flash cards, students are not only able to recognize and remember vocabulary but also learn to use it in meaningful sentence and paragraph contexts. Thus, the use of flash card media becomes an appropriate and innovative strategy for improving the vocabulary writing skills of elementary students. It contributes significantly to a more effective and engaging language learning process, fostering students’ confidence and motivation to write.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how habits, experiences, and school environmental support can strengthen character education of discipline and responsibility in elementary school students. Using a qualitative approach and literature study method, data were obtained from various academic sources such as scientific journals, reference books, and relevant research reports. The results of the analysis show that simple habits that are carried out repeatedly, such as arriving on time, following class duty, and obeying school rules, can instill a consistent attitude of discipline in students' lives. Meanwhile, real experiences gained by students through project activities, group work, and involvement in social activities contribute greatly to the understanding and appreciation of the value of responsibility contextually. Support from the school environment, including the role of teachers as role models, a conducive school culture, and facilities that support learning, are important factors that strengthen the process of internalizing character. These three aspects - habits, experiences, and environment - interact with each other and form a comprehensive character education system. In conclusion, effective character education in forming attitudes of discipline and responsibility is not enough to be theoretical, but must be built through consistent and collaborative concrete practices in the school environment.

Abstract

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism sector in Gampong Iboih, Sabang City, has experienced a very encouraging recovery. This is marked by an increase in visits by both domestic and international tourists, as well as the winning of various awards at the national and ASEAN levels. This success is inseparable from the active involvement of the community in independently reviving tourism activities. This study aims to analyze community strategies in post-pandemic tourism development using a descriptive qualitative approach. Informants in this study included the Keuchik (village head), administrators of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), the Sabang City Tourism Office, local business actors, the general public, and domestic and international tourists. Data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the strategies implemented by the Gampong Iboih community align with the four functions in Talcott Parsons' AGIL theory: adaptation, goal achievement, integration, and pattern maintenance. In terms of adaptation, the community is able to adapt to the needs and culture of tourists without losing their local identity. The development goal is reflected in efforts to make Iboih an orderly, friendly, and highly competitive tourist destination. Integration is evident in the synergy between business actors, the community, and the government in tourism management. Meanwhile, preservation of local culture is realized through the preservation of local culture, such as the Kenduri Laot tradition, education on traditional values, and enforcement of norms through a social approach. Thus, the community-based tourism development strategy in Gampong Iboih is not only practical but also reflects the successful application of AGIL theory as a social framework for sustainable and participatory tourism development.

Abstract

The writing of this thesis is motivated by the low ability of students in selecting vocabulary in learning Indonesian, especially in descriptive text material. In addition, the use of linguistic structures that are considered less causes low writing skills. In line with that, the lack of enthusiasm of students in learning Indonesian makes students difficult in making sentences. The purpose of this study is to determine the comparison of the use of the Example non Example learning method, and Chain Writing on students' abilities in writing descriptive text. The subjects of this study were students of class VII-A and VII-B of SMP Bintara Depok. Both classes were classified into the experimental group. The method focused on was Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The results obtained based on this study are that there are differences in the use of the Example non Example learning method and the Chain Writing learning method in learning descriptive text. This is supported by the achievement of scores obtained by students in the Example non Example method class (87.12) which is superior to the Chain Writing method class (76.43). Based on the results of the hypothesis test, the t count > t table is 5.511 (> 1.66757), and the sig. value. 0.000 (<0.05), it is concluded that Ha is accepted. Based on this, there is an influence of the learning method used in each experimental class. This research is expected to serve as a reference for consideration regarding policies and future research activities.

Abstract

Classical criminal law bases individual responsibility on the assumptions of free will and rational capacity, which are considered universal. However, this model of responsibility is no longer adequate when faced with neuroscientific findings that demonstrate that behavioral control is determined by brain structure and function, which vary across individuals. This study aims to deconstruct the normative foundations of criminal law through a neurological analysis of the capacity for responsibility and to formulate an alternative neuro-jurisprudence-based model that is more compatible with the biological conditions of legal subjects. The method used is normative research with a conceptual and argumentative approach. The results show that a criminal legal system that maintains a free will framework is unable to accurately distinguish between perpetrators with the capacity for conscious control and those without. Furthermore, there is no institutional mechanism for scientifically assessing an individual's neurological integrity in the judicial process. Under these conditions, criminal law operates on a structure of assumptions that has been abandoned by science. The neuro-jurisprudence approach suggests that criminal responsibility must be transformed from a moral assessment to an evaluation of neurologically verifiable capacity. This reform is a fundamental requirement for building a criminal legal system that is not only normatively valid but also biologically accurate.

Abstract

This research was conducted to help fifth-grade students of the Al-Hidayah Foundation overcome difficulties in understanding the material on the role of economic actors through the use of diorama media. The background of the research departs from the students' low understanding of abstract concepts such as producers, consumers, and distributors, which have been taught using monotonous lecture methods. The research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach with the Kemmis and McTaggart model which was implemented in several cycles. The results showed a significant increase in understanding after the use of diorama media. Before being implemented, only 13.3% of students were able to understand the role of economic actors, whereas after the use of diorama media, this number increased to 80%. Diorama media has been proven to be able to concretize abstract concepts, increase learning motivation, and strengthen students' understanding of economic activity material. Thus, diorama can be used as an alternative media for learning IPAS in elementary schools, especially on the topic of the role of economic actors.

Abstract

Understanding the concept of a base map is a crucial skill in elementary school science and social studies. However, many students still face challenges, particularly in recognizing symbols, understanding scale, and reading location-related information. This study aims to explain how the use of interactive learning media can improve the understanding of fourth-grade students at the Al-Hidayah Foundation regarding the concept of a base map. The method used involved direct observation in learning activities with interactive maps, where students actively participated by pointing out country locations, utilizing symbols, and identifying regional boundaries. The results of the observations showed that interactive media was able to overcome cognitive and visual problems experienced by students previously, because the direct and participatory presentation of maps made it easier for them to understand. In addition, active participation in practical activities increased students' motivation and curiosity. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of interactive learning media has a positive impact on improving the understanding of the concept of a base map among elementary school students, while strengthening the relevance of more practical science and social studies learning.
