Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems in this study is the correlation of vocabulary mastery and reading interest with the ability to make up exposition in students of class X SMAN I Banjar Margo Tulang Bawang This research was carried out due to the fact in the field that the ability to make up exposition and mastery of reading interests, as well as vocabulary mastery that needs to be feared. This study aims to describe the correlation between vocabulary mastery and mastery of reading interest with the ability to make up expositions of students of class X SMAN I Banjar Margo Tulang Bawang. The author uses a correlational method, meaning that the data is collected after all the events in direct question. The technique used in retrieving research data is a test. Research data analysis techniques include analysis requirements tests, statisti analysis, and research hypothesis testing techniques. The results of research on this thesis concluded 1) there is a positive and significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and exposition writing ability, indicated by the correlation coefficient of 0.772 and the coefficient of determination (r2) of 0.596 or 0.772 and the coefficient of determination (r2) of .596 or 59.69%, 2) there is a positive and significant correlation between mastery of reading interest and the ability to write exposition indicated by the correlation coefficient of 0.713 and the coefficient of determination (r2) of 0.508 or by 59.80%; 3) there is a positive and significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and mastery of reading interest with the ability to write expositions indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.810 coefficient of determination (r2) of 0.656 or 65.60%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of online word cards in improving the quality of learning in Lampung literacy writing skills and to find out the increase in Lampung writing skills in students in class V MIN 4 Pringsewu. The problems raised in this study were 1) to find out the use of online word cards in improving the quality of learning of writing skills in Lampung literacy. 2) to find out the improvement in Lampung writing skills in class V MIN 4 Pringsewu. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with research subjects V MIN 4 Pringsewu. This research was conducted in two cycles. Researchers provide guidance as a collaborator to the fifth-grade teacher on the application of word cards to improve the writing skills of Lampung students in grade V which is still very low. Therefore, this research can be said to be collaborative class action research. The subjects of this study were 27 students. The results of the study can be concluded as follows: first, the word card media can improve the quality of the learning process of Lampung students' writing skills online for class V MIN 4 Pringsewu. Students experience changes in behavior (improvement) in online learning. Second, word cards can improve the product/results of Lampung students' writing skills online grade V MIN 4 Pringsewu. Improvement of product quality/results can be seen from the comparison of the average writing scores at the pre-action and post-cycle stage II.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of using image media and vocabulary mastery on narrative composition ability in Elementary School students. The method used in this study is the experimental method. The population in this study was students in class V of SDN 1 Labuhan in a total of 127 people divided into 3 classes. The classes used as research samples are VA class as experiment, VB class as control and VC class as instrument trial class. The sampling technique in this study is a random sampling technique. The researcher's data analysis uses the t test and an ANAVA variance analysis. The results of this study are (1) there is a difference in the ability to make up narratives of students who learn to use image media and students who learn to use audio media research data shows a score of 2,263 with a significant 0.026 < 0.05, (2) there is a difference in the ability to make up narratives in the group of students who master high vocabulary between learning to use image media and using audio media (sound) Based on calculations, obtained experiments with a significant count of 0.031 and a t table of 1.761 at a significant level of 0.05. Because the calculation > t table and a significant level of 0.031< 0.05, (3) there is a difference in the ability to make up narratives in groups of students who master low vocabulary, between those who learn to use image media and use audio media (sound), and (4) there is an interaction of the use of image media and mastery of student vocabulary with the ability to make up student narratives. Therefore, the researchers concluded that there is an interaction between the use of image media and the mastery of student vocabulary to the ability to make up student narratives.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between vocabulary mastery and sentence structure with the ability to write descriptions of the eighth grade students of SMPN 02 Waway Karya, East Lampung. The author uses the correlational method, meaning that data are collected after all the events in question have taken place. The techniques used in collecting research data are questionnaires, tests, and observations. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that, (1) there is a positive and significant correlation between sentence structure and the ability to write descriptions, indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.766 and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.587 or 58.7%, (2) there is a positive and significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and the ability to write descriptions as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.662 and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.438 or 43.8%, (3) there is a positive and significant relationship between vocabulary mastery and sentence structure and ability of writing a description shown by the correlation coefficient of 0.804 and the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.646 or 64.6%.

Abstract

This research aims to improve listening skills and learning motivation by using audio-visual media in seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Mesuji. Classroom action research is a research in which the researcher collaborates with several parties, both principals, classroom teachers, and researchers simultaneously, with two cycles, each cycle having three meetings. The method used in this research is classroom action research (CAR). This study used the subject of class VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Mesuji. The population of this study amounted to 56 students. The entire population was sampled, so the sample was 56 students. Methods of data collection using checklist observations, interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that the use of audio-visual media was effective in improving the ability to listen to fantasy stories for seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Mesuji. This can be seen from the results of the study which showed that the students' listening ability during the pre-cycle only obtained an average score of 37.32 and this was included in the poor category. When the action was taken in the first cycle, the students' listening ability increased to 49.28 and was included in the sufficient category. Furthermore, in the second (second) cycle, the score reached 64.82 (Good). Likewise, in increasing learning motivation, the use of audio-visual methods also increases learning motivation. In the pre-cycle, the score of 48.35 was included in the sufficient category; in the first cycle the score is 54.78 which is included in the sufficient category, while in the second cycle the score is 68.21 which is included in the good category.

Abstract

The problem was raised in this research is the relationship between mastery of diction and writing interest with the ability to compose narratives. This research was conducted because of the reality on the ground that the ability to compose narratives and mastery of diction, as well as interest in writing, need to be developed. This study aims to describe the relationship between diction mastery and writing interest with the ability to compose narratives for fifth grade students at SDN 4 Tanjung Aman. To achieve the research objectives mentioned above, the authors use the correlational method, meaning that data is collected after all the events in question have taken place. The techniques used in collecting research data are questionnaires, tests, and observations. Research data analysis techniques include requirements analysis test, statistical analysis, and research hypothesis testing techniques. The results of the study show: (1) diction mastery is positively related to the ability to compose narratives as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.775 > 0.535 (r table); (2) writing interest is positively related to the ability to compose narratives as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.649 > 0.361 ( r table); and (3) mastery of diction and writing interest together have a positive relationship with the ability to compose narrative coefficients of 0.807.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of Word Detective Strategy towards students’ vocabulary mastery. The writer utilized a quasi-experimental method to conduct the research. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 7 Bandar Lampung. There were 473 students in 13 classes. The research sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class called X-AK1 and a control class called X-AK2. Cluster random sampling was applied by the writer in taking the sample. The writer utilized a multiple-choice test to measure the students' vocabulary mastery when collecting data. The writer utilized the sample t test formula to analyze the data. Students who were taught using the Word Detective Strategy scored higher than students who were taught using the Translation Technique, according to the data analysis. The average score of the experimental class was higher than the control class, according to the hypothesis testing calculation. The average score of the experimental class was 74.4 and the average score of the control class was 49.9. It may also be observed that t-test higher than t-table (t test > t table), that was 10.99>2.62 at the significance level 1% and 10.99>1.98 at the significance level 5%. Therefore, Word Detective Strategy had a positive impact on students’ vocabulary mastery at the tenth grade of SMK Negeri 7 Bandar Lampung in 2020/2021.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to promote students' vocabulary mastery using English song at MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung's eighth grade. The thirty-two participants in this study were made up of 11 males and 19 females. This study was carried out with the use of classroom action research. The action research model, according to Kemmis and Taggart, consists of two cycles. Planning, action, observation, and reflection were the four steps in each cycle. Before beginning cycle 1, the writer conducted a pre-cycle to determine the students' vocabulary competence as well as their vocabulary challenges. In this study, the writer worked with an English teacher at MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung to collect data from students in the eighth (VIII C) grade. The writer's goal for this study was to increase the students' learning activities and vocabulary knowledge. The students' improvement in learning activities was evident from the average score of students' learning activities in cycle 1 of 7.16 with the criteria quite active, while in cycle 2 of 7.83 with the criteria quite active. As a result, there was a 0.67 point improvement in students' learning activity between cycles 1 and 2. Meanwhile, the students' vocabulary mastery improved, as seen by the average pre-cycle score of 66.25, with 12 students passing the Minimum Mastery Criterion. The average score for the first cycle was 70.87, with 13 students 40.62% passing the Minimum Mastery Criterion, while the average score for the second cycle was 81.37, with 26 students 81.37% passing the Minimum Mastery Criterion. Based on the findings of the data analysis, it is possible to conclude that Classroom Action Research using English song can promote students' learning activities and vocabulary acquisition.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze: (1) the difference in the average of students’ ability in writing paragraphs using pictorial story media and those without using pictorial media. (2) the influence of students who have high learning activities using picture stories media on writing skills is better than students who have high learning activities without using picture stories media. (3) the average score of students’ ability in writing paragraphs with high learning activities who use the picture stories is higher than those who do not use picture stories media. (4) the average score of students’ ability in writing paragraphs with low learning activities who use the picture stories is higher than those who do not use picture stories media. The method used in this research is the experimental method. The results of this study indicate that learning activities and picture stories media have a positive effect towards the students’ ability in writig paragraphs. The interaction of students who have high learning activities and are taught using picture stories media has the highest average value in writing paragraph ability, that is 16.74. Furthermore, the average scores of students with low learning activities and being taught with picture stories media is 15.03, then students with high learning activities and being taught without media is 10.67, and finally the average score of students who have low learning activities and are taught without picture stories media is 10,13.
