Abstract

Moderate Islamic education with a tolerant curriculum amidst diversity is crucial in shaping a generation that not only understands religious teachings but also values social and cultural differences. In Indonesia, which is rich in pluralism, the development of an Islamic education curriculum that prioritizes moderation and tolerance is a key challenge in fostering social peace. This study aims to recommend a model for designing Islamic education curricula that instills values of moderation, interfaith tolerance, and respect for differences. The approach used in this study is qualitative, with a library research method, relying on the collection of relevant literature to explore the concepts and best practices in moderate curriculum design. The results of the study indicate that an Islamic education curriculum that emphasizes moderation and tolerance must integrate materials on religious pluralism, apply dialogical and collaborative teaching methods, and include assessments based on attitudes of tolerance toward differences. Additionally, the curriculum should prioritize teaching universal values such as peace, justice, and mutual respect. Collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and society is essential to realizing an adaptive, inclusive Islamic education curriculum that can create a more peaceful and harmonious society amidst diversity.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers' strategies in implementing religious moderation in thematic learning at Al-Azhar Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah (MI) and Madaiyyah Senduro Madrasah Aliyah (MAS). Religious moderation, as a balanced, tolerant, anti-violent, and nation-oriented religious attitude, is very important to be instilled from an early age through formal education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation studies, then analysed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The results showed that teachers at MI Al-Azhar used concrete experience-based strategies, such as storytelling, collaborative games, and daily prayer habits, to instil the values of tolerance and togetherness. Meanwhile, teachers at MAS Madaiyyah developed strategies for thematic discussions, case studies, and self-reflection that encourage students to think critically and reflect on religious moderation. The obstacles encountered include teachers' limited understanding of religious moderation, a dense curriculum, and the negative influence of social media. However, supporting factors such as madrasah policies, teacher role models, and the local socio-cultural context contributed to the success of the implementation. This study emphasises the importance of the role of teachers as agents of moderation through thematic learning, as well as the need to strengthen teacher capacity and learning innovation to shape a moderate generation in an era of diversity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services with systematic desensitization techniques in reducing public speaking anxiety in junior high school students. This study uses a quantitative approach with the quasi-experiment one-group pre-test post-test design method. The participants of this study were grade VIII students of Junior High School in Medan, with a sample of 7 students. The sample was recruited using a purposive sampling technique based on the criteria of students who experienced high speech anxiety. The intervention was carried out through 4 group counseling sessions adjusted to systematic desensitization techniques. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test led to a decrease in the average score from 74.14 to 57.14 with an Asymp significance value. Sig (2-tailed) is 0.018. This proves that group counseling with systematic decentralization techniques can reduce public speaking anxiety in junior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in learning achievement between students who follow the Full Day School and Half Day School system at the Junior High School level. The research method used is a comparative quantitative study with an Independent Samples T-Test approach. The research sample consisted of 60 VIII grade students, 30 students each from Full Day school and 30 students from Half Day school. Learning achievement data were obtained through report cards with a scale of 10-100. Normality (Shapiro-Wilk) and homogeneity (Levene's Test) assumption tests showed that the data were normally distributed and had homogeneous variances, so they were eligible for the t-test. The analysis showed a significant difference between the two groups (t(58) = 2.272; p = 0.0268 < 0.05), with the average score of Full Day students (M = 76.57; SD = 7.17) higher than Half Day students (M = 71.97; SD = 8.46). The mean difference of 4.6 points indicates a moderate effect based on the calculation of Cohen's d = 0.59. This finding indicates that the Full Day School system has the potential to improve learning achievement through increased learning time, intensive interaction with teachers, and wider enrichment opportunities.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of hypocrisy (nifaq) in the Qur’an and compares it with Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of persona in analytical psychology. The main objective is to identify the similarities and differences between hypocrisy as a moral–spiritual phenomenon and persona as an adaptive psychological mechanism. Employing a qualitative approach through library research and comparative textual analysis, this study draws on primary sources such as the Qur’an, classical and modern exegeses, and Jung’s works. The findings reveal that both nifaq and persona describe a dissonance between one’s inner and outer selves. However, they differ fundamentally in nature: nifaq in the Qur’an is morally destructive, rooted in deceit and ill intent, whereas persona in Jung’s framework is adaptive, becoming harmful only when the individual loses authenticity. The study underscores the importance of honesty, self-reflection, and the integration of spiritual and social identities in developing authentic human character in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an assessment application based on KoboToolbox to identify specific learning difficulties in elementary school students. The main objectives are to determine user needs, design a prototype, and evaluate the application's validity and practicality. The research employs a mixed-methods approach combined with Research and Development (R&D) using the Borg and Gall model. Findings indicate that teachers urgently need a practical digital assessment tool. The application was successfully developed with a user-friendly Android-based interface. Expert validation results showed a validity level of 92% (categorized as very valid), while the practicality test reached 89% (categorized as very practical). The application is considered effective as a support tool for early and structured detection of specific learning difficulties in elementary school settings.

Abstract

This study aims to redesign a futuristic learning model through the SCAMPER technique as a framework for developing effective and future-oriented education that responds to the demands of the Society 5.0 era. The study focuses on combining learning models to cultivate students’ critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. Through the substitute, combine, adapt, modify, eliminate, and rearrange stages of SCAMPER, this research integrates Problem-Based Learning as main model, Group Investigation as complement model, and Talking Stick as supporting model into a coherent learning framework. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through document analysis and literature review, and analyzed following Miles and Huberman’s model comprising data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the redesigned model encourages student-centered learning, active participation, and meaningful interaction between teachers and learners. The integration of collaborative and reflective activities also promotes students’ confidence and communication fluency. Thus, the SCAMPER-based redesign offers a practical reference for educators in constructing innovative, contextual, and adaptive learning models that prepare students to face the complex challenges of the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

The historical work of KH. Ahmad Dahlan in 1923 entitled “Tali Pengikat Hidup Manusia” (The Bond of Human Life) focused on the editorial theme of “leaders of Islamic progress,” which became an ideological term. These internal institutional reasons required Muhammadiyah, as a modernist Islamic organization, to take a stand in solving national and global humanitarian issues with a new civilization-humanitarian strategy such as Islam Berkemajuan (Progressive Islam). Methodology: The historical method was used in writing this research, based on the fact that the study to be discussed is a historical study and the data needed in writing the research comes from the past. Discussion: Muhammadiyah in a global context. Progressive Muhammadiyah must be able to contribute to civilizational dialogue and international cooperation that upholds the values of humanity and justice. Muhammadiyah is expected to become a bridge between the Islamic world and the global community in solving various common problems, such as environmental issues, peace, and human rights.
