Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the general patterns underlying the success of school-based management (SBM) implementation, as well as to identify the main challenges that often arise in its implementation. Thus, this study can provide an important contribution in understanding the dynamics of SBM and its implications for efforts to improve the quality of school management and the effectiveness of educational organizations at the local level. This study presents a systematic review of school-based management literature through the collection, documentation, examination, and analysis of research publications. The results of the study show that SBM can improve the effectiveness of school organizations through decentralization of decision making, increased community participation, and increased accountability. However, the success of SBM is greatly influenced by contextual factors, such as resource support, principal managerial competence, and stakeholder involvement. While SBM is able to improve the quality of school management and organizational culture, its impact on student learning outcomes has not been consistent. In addition, the increasing bureaucratic burden and declining teacher morale are challenges that require attention in the implementation of SBM.

Abstract

Moral problems become student problems that occur as part of the impact of globalization. This research aimed to evaluate guidance and counseling services at MAN 1 Bengkulu Utara as supporting students in solving their problems and developing their potential.  The evaluation model used is the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model to get a more comprehensive and in-depth picture of the guidance and counseling program. This research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data was obtained from guidance and counseling coordinators, guidance and counseling teachers and students using interview techniques, document study, and observation. The results of the research showed that in the Context aspect, achievement is in the high category, as well as in the program Input aspect which is also in the high category. Meanwhile, the Process program aspect is also in the high category, but the Product aspect is in the medium category. The conclusion is that the guidance and counseling program can be said to be well implemented. Only moderate product categories still need to be improved. Furthermore, to improve program implementation, there are several recommendations, including the preparation of special documents for guidance and counseling profiles; documents detailing special funds for guidance and counseling programs; and additional guidance and counseling teachers.

Abstract

Creative thinking is an essential component in education that drives innovation, problem-solving, and the development of students’ critical thinking skills. This study aims to review various learning models designed to enhance students’ creative thinking abilities through a systematic literature review (SLR). Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework, this research identifies, screens, and evaluates relevant articles from the Scopus database, resulting in eight studies that meet the inclusion criteria. The results indicate that, following innovative learning models such as play-based activities, digital-based virtual classrooms (VCLE), basic movement through play approaches, and project-based mathematics learning are effective in improving creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and student learning motivation. The integration of technology, STEAM approaches, and creative game design also show positive effects in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills. The higher distribution of research at the tertiary education level highlights the need for greater focus on other educational levels, particularly secondary education, to ensure the benefits of learning innovation are evenly distributed. These findings provide practical implications for educators and policymakers, emphasizing the importance of using innovative teaching methods, integrated technology, and the role of teachers as facilitators to develop a conducive learning environment for student creativity. The study also identifies several limitations, including small trial scales and short research durations, indicating the need for further research with larger scales and longer durations. By continually exploring and developing effective learning models, it is expected that students can achieve their maximum potential in dynamic and diverse learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of transformational and instructional leadership styles of school principals on teacher performance, motivation, job satisfaction, and student achievement in primary and secondary schools. A literature review method was employed, synthesizing qualitative and quantitative studies published between 2019 and 2024. The selected studies focus on the relationship between principal leadership styles and key educational outcomes, with data retrieved from sources in both English and Indonesian. The findings highlight that instructional leadership significantly improves teacher performance and job satisfaction by providing structured support and guidance. Transformational leadership fosters motivation, enhances job satisfaction, and promotes student achievement through inspiration and collaboration. The synergy between these leadership styles enhances educational outcomes, with principals effectively balancing both approaches. This review fills a gap by exploring how transformational and instructional leadership styles interact to influence teachers and students, offering a clearer understanding of their complementary roles in various educational contexts. The study provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers by emphasizing the importance of situational leadership and the need for leadership development programs for school principals. Adopting a hybrid approach to leadership can further enhance teacher performance and student achievement.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of managerial skills, organizational communication, discipline, and school climate on work engagement among teachers and staff in educational institutions. While work engagement is essential for improving school performance and student outcomes, factors influencing it in schools remain insufficiently understood. The research aims to identify specific elements within these four areas that foster higher work engagement, providing insights to enhance teacher satisfaction and productivity. Using a quantitative approach, data will be collected through surveys distributed to teachers and staff across various schools. A structured questionnaire will measure levels of managerial skills, organizational communication, discipline, school climate, and work engagement. Statistical methods, including multiple regression analysis, will analyze the relationships between these variables. The study’s findings are expected to offer practical recommendations for school leaders and policymakers to cultivate a supportive, productive working environment. By presenting an integrated approach, this research contributes to the field by examining the combined effects of multiple factors on work engagement, offering a comprehensive model for enhancing teacher engagement in schools.
