Abstract

Mororejo Village, Kendal Regency, has abundant seaweed potential, but it yields low economic value (IDR 3,000/kg) as it is sold raw. The partner, BUMDes "Moro Berkah", also faces challenges with manual bookkeeping and limited local marketing. This Community Service (PkM) program aims to increase the economic value of seaweed, digitalise financial records, and expand the market through appropriate technology transfer. Methods included providing a seaweed milling machine (disk mill), drafting hygienic production SOPs, training in Microsoft Excel-based bookkeeping, and implementing digital marketing strategies. The results show a significant increase in the partner's capacity. The team successfully transformed raw dried seaweed into high-quality powder, boosting the selling price from IDR 3,000/kg to IDR 85,000/kg. Financial digitalisation helps BUMDes managers handle cash flow transparently and accurately. Furthermore, digital marketing training strengthens product branding and reduces dependence on middlemen by expanding online market access.

Abstract

The temporary closure of the final disposal site (landfill) for 1–2 days during holidays causes waste accumulation, which has become a concern among residents. BUMDes Moroberkah's waste management still relies on manual open burning, resulting in air pollution and scattered combustion residues. This community service program aimed to provide a solution by implementing appropriate technology in the form of an incinerator machine. The program was conducted in two stages: on-site machine testing, followed by unit handover and training for BUMDes management. Test results showed that the incinerator operated optimally, with a waste-reduction capacity of about 25 kg/hour. The internal air circulation system and chimney design effectively reduced exhaust emissions, while the machine contained combustion residues, helping maintain environmental cleanliness. The program also improved the BUMDes management’s understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machine operation and maintenance. This program provides an independent, comprehensive, and environmentally friendly waste management solution.

Abstract

This community engagement program was motivated by the suboptimal documentation of Pandanajeng Village’s potential and the limited use of digital technology among MSME actors. The program aimed to identify and map the village’s potential while improving MSMEs’ readiness to use digital technology. The study used a qualitative descriptive method through observations, interviews with village officials and community members, and document review. The target participants included village officials, farmers, MSME actors, and the wider community. The results showed that Pandanajeng Village has potential in horticulture, layer poultry farming, non-agricultural MSMEs, and social and cultural capital. These potentials were visualised through an infographic village map. Digitalisation assistance through socialisation activities and the development of QRIS services improved MSME actors’ understanding and technical skills. This program produced an information base to support village development planning, digital transformation, and sustainable community economic independence.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) remains an issue among adolescent girls and pregnant women in Sendangagung Village, Paciran, Lamongan. This community service activity aimed to improve their understanding of CED's causes, consequences, and prevention. Methods included health education and discussions, using the "SMART GIZI" (Smart Nutrition) pocketbook and educational videos accessible via QR codes. We evaluated learning using pre-tests and post-tests, each with 10 questions. The results showed that the proportion of adolescent girls demonstrating a good level of knowledge rose from 51% to 74%. In comparison, the proportion of pregnant women with a good level of knowledge increased from 28% to 78%.

Abstract

The BSI Explore community service initiative aimed to empower PKK cadres in Tirtomarto Village, Cawas, Klaten, to produce stable, safe, and hygienic alum-based spray deodorants. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology, an intensive one-day workshop was conducted with 30 participants, covering cycles of planning, action, quality observation, and reflection. Cognitive evaluations revealed a remarkable 73.36% leap in understanding, as average scores rose from 50.16 (pre-test) to 86.96 (post-test). Product quality assessments confirmed that a 1:4 standard formula ratio (alum-distilled water) infused with glycerin maintained organoleptic stability, prevented crystallisation, and secured a skin-safe pH of 5.5–5.6. From a socioeconomic standpoint, PAR effectively built community confidence to produce deodorants independently at a minimal cost of IDR 3,500/bottle. This activity successfully laid a solid foundation for sustainable green cosmetic entrepreneurship within the local community.
