Abstract

This qualitative study investigates how English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at Institut Agama Islam Nahdlatul Ulama (IAINU) Bangil experience and utilize artificial intelligence (AI) tools in their academic writing processes. Through a phenomenological approach, we conducted in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and collected written reflections from 25 English education students over four months. Our thematic analysis uncovered four primary themes that characterize their experiences: enhanced writing efficiency and productivity, valuable language learning support and scaffolding, significant challenges to critical thinking and originality, and complex ethical considerations surrounding academic integrity. While participants reported substantial improvements in writing fluency and reduced anxiety when using AI tools like ChatGPT, Grammarly, and QuillBot, they simultaneously expressed concerns about potential over-dependence and the authenticity of their work. These findings illuminate the reality of AI integration in EFL writing contexts and highlight the urgent need for comprehensive institutional policies and pedagogical frameworks that can maximize benefits while addressing legitimate concerns about independent learning and academic honesty.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze innovative business practices in fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among Generation Z thru a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). 16 scholarly articles from Google Scholar published between 2020 and 2025 are examined. The literature selection process adheres to the PRISMA guidelines, which encompass the study question, literature review, inclusion and exclusion criteria, quality assessment (QA1–QA3), data collection, and results. The analysis results show that college entrepreneurship has a significant impact on the development of Generation Z students' entrepreneurial mindset thru project-based learning and experiential learning. The type of educational innovation that has the greatest impact on the development of Generation Z businesses includes industry collaboration, mentorship practices, and the integration of digital technology into the learning process. In addition, the success of entrepreneurship education for Generation Z is greatly influenced by collaborative campus environments, access to business incubators, and the use of digital platforms as concept exploration media. The results of this study indicate that the development of the Entrepreneurship course must be based on an application-based, technologically adaptive, and real-world-oriented learning paradigm in order to foster an entrepreneurial attitude.

Abstract

The Batubara community on the east coast of Sumatra possesses a unique cultural heritage and social structure, yet it remains insufficiently examined from a social-historical perspective. John Anderson’s travel account in Mission to the East Coast of Sumatra (1823) provides important insights into social life, traditional leadership, and interethnic dynamics in Batubara during the early 19th century. This study aims to uncover the social history of the Batubara community and to analyze patterns of ethnic dynamics that occurred within colonial and regional contexts as reflected in Anderson’s work. This research employs a qualitative method with a content-analysis approach to colonial texts as primary sources, supported by secondary data such as interviews with local figures and historical documentation. The findings show that the social structure of the Batubara community was built upon the Kedatukan system led by the Datuk Empat Suku, who held not only customary authority but also political and religious functions. Furthermore, ethnic dynamics in Batubara unfolded through interactions among Malay, Batak, and other groups, which fostered cultural acculturation, economic collaboration, and occasional social tensions that were addressed through local diplomatic strategies. Anderson’s representation of Batubara reveals a colonial perspective that tends to be biased, yet still offers significant ethnographic value for reassessing local history. Thus, this study affirms that a social-historical approach can effectively reconstruct collective identity and intergroup relations within the context of colonialism in East Sumatra.

Abstract

This study analyzes how the practice of digital photography in public spaces poses new challenges to privacy protection and information ethics in Indonesia. Advances in photography technology and the dissemination of visuals through digital platforms have encouraged people to spontaneously produce and distribute images, exposing individuals as subjects of photographs to the risk of privacy violations, especially when photographs are taken without consent. This study uses a normative juridical method that examines the provisions in the Personal Data Protection Law and the Electronic Information and Transaction Law to assess the legal boundaries related to the processing of individual portraits. The results of the study show that portraits and visual identities of individuals are categorized as personal data that must be protected, so that the act of taking, using, or commercializing photos without permission can have legal and ethical consequences. In addition, the practice of taking photos in public spaces, such as during Car Free Day activities, illustrates a change in the meaning of public space, which has now been transformed into a space for the production of visual data that is difficult to control. This phenomenon has created tension between freedom of expression and the protection of dignity, security, and personal integrity. This study confirms that harmonizing the right to freedom of expression and the principle of personal data protection requires a more adaptive regulatory and cultural approach, especially in the face of a rapidly changing and competitive digital ecosystem. Thus, efforts to improve digital literacy, photography ethics, and legal compliance are essential prerequisites for creating a safe, civilized digital public space that respects the rights of every individual.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed the modern marketing paradigm from a product-oriented to a consumer-oriented approach. This study aims to analyze the transformation of the traditional marketing mix concept of 4P (product, price, place, promotion) into the 4C framework (consumer, cost, convenience, communication) within the context of digital marketing in Indonesia. A descriptive quantitative method was employed, using secondary data obtained from industry reports, digital surveys, and observations of marketing strategies in the e-commerce sector. The findings reveal that companies adopting the 4C approach experience a substantial increase in marketing communication effectiveness and customer loyalty. Observation data indicate that 75% of digital-based companies implementing the 4C model recorded higher customer engagement, while 68% of consumers preferred platforms offering accessibility and personalized experiences. The analysis further shows that the shift from nominal pricing to experiential value enhances customer satisfaction and competitive advantage. These results affirm that the success of digital marketing strategies is not solely determined by product quality but also by the company’s ability to understand consumer needs, create value-driven interactions, and build sustainable communication in the digital ecosystem.

Abstract

The Islamic Golden Age (approximately the 8th to the 13th century CE) was a pivotal period in world civilization, marked by rapid advancements in various fields such as knowledge, philosophy, medicine, astronomy, and theology. During this era, cities like Baghdad, Cairo, and al-Andalus emerged as vibrant centers of scientific and intellectual activity. A key aspect of this period was the translation of Greek philosophical and scientific works—particularly those of Aristotle—which sparked debates between rationalist thinkers and traditional theologians. Two major figures of Islamic thought from this era, Abu Hamid al-Ghazali (1058–1111) and Abu al-Walid Ibn Rushd (1126–1198), played central roles in shaping the intellectual landscape of Islam. Al-Ghazali emphasized the primacy of revelation as the ultimate source of truth, whereas Ibn Rushd defended the view that philosophy and religion are not inherently contradictory. This article examines the contributions of these two scholars and explores the intellectual tensions that arose between rationality and revelation within the broader discourse of Islamic thought.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of humanist learning theory to Islamic education. Humanist learning theory focuses on optimally developing human potential through freedom of learning and meaningful experiences. Meanwhile, Islamic education emphasizes the formation of the whole person (insan kamil) based on the values of monotheism, morality, and human nature. This study used a qualitative method with a library research approach sourced from educational psychology books and scientific works in the field of Islamic education. The results show that humanist learning theory aligns with the principles of Islamic education in terms of respect for student potential, the role of teachers as guides, and student-centered learning. However, there are fundamental differences in philosophical aspects: humanist theory is oriented towards humans (anthropocentric), while Islamic education is centered on divine values (theocentric). Thus, the application of humanist theory in Islamic education needs to be directed at strengthening spiritual values so that the educational process does not lose its divine dimension.

Abstract

This study examines the application of management accounting practices in improving production cost efficiency at PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk, one of Indonesia’s largest consumer goods manufacturers. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes secondary data derived from annual and financial reports from 2022–2025. The study explores the implementation of budgeting, variance analysis, flexible budgeting, responsibility accounting, and Activity-Based Costing (ABC) as key instruments for cost control. Findings show that Indofood has adopted management accounting techniques comprehensively to monitor production activities, allocate resources efficiently, and identify cost deviations. Although total production costs increased annually, the rate of increase declined, indicating improved cost efficiency supported by more accurate cost measurement and strengthened cost-control mechanisms. The company’s ability to align actual costs below budgeted amounts further reflects effective managerial oversight. Overall, the application of management accounting significantly contributes to optimizing material usage, labor, and overhead expenses, while enhancing operational decision-making. The study recommends continuous evaluation of cost variance and encourages future research using primary data to provide deeper insights into the strategic role of management accounting in production efficiency.

Abstract

Work ethic and professional ethics are two fundamental components that influence the quality of individual performance and determine the direction of a person's career development in the modern workplace. A dynamic work environment requires workers to have not only technical competence, but also moral integrity and a consistent professional attitude. This study aims to analyze the role of work ethic and professional ethics and their impact on a person's profession and career development. The research method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, using four relevant scientific journals as the main sources. The results of the study show that a high work ethic—characterized by commitment, responsibility, discipline, and quality orientation—is directly correlated with increased productivity, organizational trust, and career advancement opportunities. In addition, the internalization of professional ethics affects work reputation, professional stability, and long-term career sustainability. In conclusion, work ethic and professional ethics are important prerequisites for building a successful and sustainable career.
