Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences between grandparents’ and parents’ parenting styles in shaping children’s discipline. The shifting caregiving roles in modern families, particularly due to parents’ work responsibilities, often place grandparents as the primary caregivers, leading to generational differences in values and approaches that may influence children’s discipline. This research employed a comparative quantitative approach involving 66 children in Koto Datuk Village. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, and data were collected through questionnaires based on discipline indicators proposed by Baumrind and Santrock. Data analysis was conducted using an Independent Sample t-Test through SPSS version 30. The findings reveal a significant difference between parents’ and grandparents’ parenting styles, where parents’ democratic parenting is more effective in fostering discipline compared to the more permissive approach typically practiced by grandparents. These results emphasize the importance of active parental involvement in childrearing and the need for educational support for grandparents as alternative caregivers in contemporary family settings.

Abstract

Responsive parenting and balanced nutrition are essential factors supporting the holistic development of early childhood. This study examines the influence of these two factors on children’s independence and stunting prevention using a quantitative correlational approach involving 46 parents at KB RA Mina Jadid, Mojokerto. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results show that responsive parenting (4.46), balanced nutrition (4.33), and children’s independence (4.25) fall into the high category. Strong positive correlations were found between responsive parenting and independence (r = 0.71), balanced nutrition and independence (r = 0.76), as well as between parenting and nutrition (r = 0.77). Anthropometric measurements also indicate that most children fall within the normal growth range. These findings confirm that responsive parenting and balanced nutrition significantly contribute to enhancing children’s independence and reducing the risk of stunting.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education has become essential in the millennial era, including in Qur’an and Hadith learning at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level. This study analyzes the relevance of digital innovation in Qur’an and Hadith instruction to the characteristics of millennial learners at MTsN Palopo City. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining descriptive qualitative data from interviews and observations with simple quantitative data from questionnaires administered to 60 students. Data were analyzed using qualitative triangulation and percentage-based quantitative analysis. The results indicate that 78% of students feel more motivated to learn Qur’an and Hadith through digital media, and 82% find mobile applications and e-learning platforms easier to use for understanding the material. Qualitative findings reinforce this, showing that students perceive digital-based learning as more engaging, interactive, and aligned with their technology-oriented habits. Teachers also report increased student engagement, despite challenges related to limited facilities and pedagogical readiness. Overall, the study confirms that digital transformation is highly relevant to Qur’an and Hadith learning for millennial students and underscores the need for creative, collaborative, and technology-based instructional strategies at MTsN Palopo City.

Abstract

This study develops and evaluates the Masgapur thematic picture storybook as a learning medium to strengthen religious tolerance and moderation among early childhood learners. Rooted in the socio-cultural context of a “Pancasila Village,” the storybook presents harmonious interactions among children from different religious backgrounds Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism symbolized through Masgapur (Masjid, Gereja, Pura). Employing the ADDIE model, the research followed five stages: needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were obtained through observations, interviews with teachers and parents, expert validation in early childhood education, media design and linguistics, and pre-test and post-test assessments. Needs analysis revealed limited access to culturally relevant storybooks that integrate local values and multilingual elements. The developed storybook features simple narratives, contextual illustrations, and local cultural values aligned with Pancasila principles of unity and mutual respect. Expert validation indicated high feasibility with scores above 85% across all categories. Small- and large-group trials demonstrated strong child engagement and understanding of multicultural content. Post-test results showed a 38.9% improvement in children’s tolerance and religious moderation skills. Overall, the Masgapur storybook is pedagogically feasible and effective, underscoring the value of integrating local wisdom, narrative-based learning, and character education to promote peaceful coexistence in early childhood settings.

Abstract

The need to strengthen digital literacy in early childhood education requires teachers to have an adequate understanding of practical coding learning. However, limited competencies and facilities remain an obstacle in many schools. This workshop program aims to improve the knowledge and skills of teachers at Melati Purwakarta Kindergarten through an introduction to simple robotics based on Scribble Bot. The research used a qualitative descriptive method through the stages of material delivery, mentoring, and direct practice. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis through the processes of coding, categorization, and theme extraction. The findings show that: (1) all participants were able to assemble the Scribble Bot independently, indicating an improvement in technical skills; (2) pedagogical understanding of the role of coding in children's cognitive, motor, and social development increased significantly; and (3) a commitment to sustainable implementation emerged in the form of plans to integrate simple robotics into monthly learning. This program has implications for increasing teachers' readiness to adopt more innovative coding learning and emphasizes the need for facility support and further training so that the integration of robotics in early childhood education can be sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the founding ideas of Muhammadiyah, its organizational dynamics, and the periodization of its development from 1912 to the contemporary era, with particular attention to the movement’s educational orientation as a core instrument of social transformation. This research adopts a historical-sociological approach by examining primary and secondary sources relevant to Muhammadiyah’s intellectual roots, institutional practices, and socio-religious engagement. The findings indicate that the establishment of Muhammadiyah was driven by three major factors: colonial conditions that contributed to Muslim socio-educational marginalization, the persistence of syncretic religious practices within local communities, and the influence of Islamic reformist currents from the Middle East. Over time, Muhammadiyah has maintained ideological consistency in the spirit of tajdid through religious purification and the modernization of social services, particularly in the development of schools, universities, and community-based educational programs. Organizationally, Muhammadiyah demonstrates strong adaptive capacity in responding to political and social changes from the colonial era through independence, the New Order, and the reform and globalization periods. Its historical periodization shows that Muhammadiyah functions not only as a da’wah movement but also as a strategic actor in strengthening civil society, cultivating educated citizenship, and expanding international humanitarian diplomacy. Therefore, Muhammadiyah can be understood as a model of progressive Islamic movement that integrates religious orthodoxy with modern educational and social praxis within both national and global contexts.

Abstract

Perceptions of readiness for elementary school are parents' views, understanding, and assessments of their children's abilities, such as cognitive, social-emotional, language, motor, and independence aspects. The purpose of this study is to explore parents' perceptions of their children's readiness for elementary school, focusing on the differences in perceptions between fathers and mothers in one family and exploring the cognitive abilities of children. This study uses a case study approach, with the research subject being the parents of an 8-year-old boy with the initials RD. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that there are differences in perception between RD's father and mother regarding the child's readiness to enter elementary school. These differences in perception are influenced by three factors, namely (1) each parent's understanding of the concept of school readiness, (2) their personal experiences in undergoing education in the past, and (3) their expectations for RD's future education. The findings of this study are that parents' perceptions of their children's readiness to enter elementary school are subjective and influenced by internal and social factors, and that open communication and collaboration between parents in making decisions about their children's education are important. RD is a gifted child with academic abilities above the average of his peers. RD's discomfort and demotivation in elementary school arose because his learning needs as a gifted child were not optimally met in a regular school environment.
