Abstract

e-Retention is beneficial in supporting the efficient retention of medical record files. Retention is carried out by filing staff by selecting medical record numbers on the shelves by looking at the date/month/year of the patient's last visit and whether they have not returned for treatment for more than 5 years. A common problem in hospitals is that retained medical record data is not recorded or archived in the retention book. Consequently, when the patient returns for treatment, filing staff require considerable time to trace the medical record files to ensure they receive medical care. This impacts patient satisfaction with medical record services. This study aims to design a waterfall method for implementing medical record retention. Primary data were obtained through observation using a qualitative descriptive study using the waterfall method, with four staff members as subjects. The data used in this study were checklists, which were then processed and analyzed univariately. The result of this research is a design for an e-retention system for medical record files that is ready for implementation. This implementation is expected to improve the efficiency and accuracy of e-retention. Suggestions include making changes to the implementation of medical record file retention to make it more effective by using e-retention, providing training to staff on its use, and conducting an impact evaluation to measure efficiency and patient satisfaction resulting from the system changes.

Abstract

Hospitals, in providing medical record services to support healthcare delivery, must maintain the quality of medical records. This requires completeness of medical information related to the patient's medical history, from the beginning of treatment to discharge. Diagnosis coding in medical records must be complete and accurate in accordance with ICD-10 guidelines. The accuracy of diagnosis and treatment codes significantly impacts the quality of statistical data and healthcare payment using a case-mix system. Inaccurate diagnosis codes will result in inaccurate data. Incorrect codes will result in incorrect rates. This study, analyzing the accuracy of coding in the medical records of mental health patients at Prof. Hb. Saanin Mental Hospital, Padang, aims to examine the accuracy of coding mental health diagnoses. This study employed descriptive research with quantitative methods and direct observation of medical records. This study was conducted in the Medical Records Unit of Prof. Hb. The study was conducted between February and April 2024. The population was the medical records of inpatients with mental health issues at Prof. HB. Saanin Mental Hospital, Padang, in 2022. Abstract

Health Information Systems (HIS) are a crucial element in improving the efficiency and accuracy of medical services in community health centers. This study aims to analyze the impact of HIS implementation on the quality of healthcare services, using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The analysis process involved identifying 300 relevant articles through academic databases, such as Taylor and Francis and Scopus, which were then selected into 10 primary articles based on inclusion criteria. This study explored the impact of HIS on service efficiency, data accuracy, and evidence-based decision-making. The analysis results indicate that the implementation of HIS, such as the Community Health Center Management Information System (SIMPUS) and web-based applications, significantly contributes to accelerating services, reducing patient waiting times, and increasing user satisfaction. However, challenges such as limited human resources, inadequate technological infrastructure, and the complexity of data management remain major obstacles. System integration, such as bridging systems, and the development of web-based applications have proven effective in addressing some of these obstacles. This study concludes that HIS has a positive impact on improving the quality of healthcare services in community health centers, although its implementation requires better infrastructure support and human resource training. Technological integration and innovation efforts are key to optimizing the benefits of HIS in supporting efficient, patient-centered healthcare services.

Abstract

Abstract

Abnormalities in newborns are usually congenital. These congenital abnormalities are abnormalities that occur in the baby's structural development from the time the baby begins life from conception. These congenital abnormalities are usually the cause of abortion, stillbirth, or death soon after birth. Infant deaths in the first month of life are often caused by severe congenital abnormalities. The purpose of this study is to help parents quickly identify the types of abnormalities in newborns without having to wait in line for a specialist. This study used the Forward Chaining method. The Forward Chaining method is an inference technique in an expert system that works from facts or symptoms to a final conclusion. In this study, the Forward Chaining method was used to determine the types of abnormalities in newborns. Not all babies born are normal, even if they appear normal. Each abnormality in a newborn baby is accompanied by specific symptoms. To determine the type of abnormality that occurs in newborns, this is done by paying attention to the symptoms experienced by the baby so that the public can obtain information about the abnormality, and for doctors this application can be used as an assistant as well as a reference to provide information to the public about the types of abnormalities in newborns. For this reason, an expert system is designed that uses Forward Chaining to help people who want to consult about their babies to find out if there are any abnormalities in their babies.
