Abstract

Rural areas, especially those that are river basins, are very vulnerable to destructive changes from various activities, including tourism. This is also indicated as happening in the Suntenjaya Tourism Village, Indonesia. Therefore, it is necessary to study the application of ecotourism to mitigate the negative impacts of tourism on Cikapundung watershed conservation. The application of ecotourism to nature tourism activities in Suntenjaya Village was studied through descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Through observation, interviews, and secondary data collection, it was found that ecotourism has only been partially applied to nature tourism activities in Suntenjaya Tourism Village. The application of ecotourism can be promoted through the sustainable development orientation of Pokdarwis, but it is hindered by social conflicts and organizational duality in Suntenjaya Tourism Village

Abstract

Abstract This research is motivated by the decrease of attraction of the Taman Alam Punti Kayu Nature Park which is the only natural tourist attraction in Palembang City. The study aims to determine the effect of tourist attraction on revisit decision with a visiting interest as intervening variables. Based on initial observations that have been made at Punti Kayu Nature Park Palembang, the attraction component is quite adequate for the accessibility, amenities, attractions, and other public facilities. The study included 95 individuals who visited the Punti Kayu Nature Park. The analysis of data used in this research is descriptive and quantitative, and uses the structural technique Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) Version 3.0. to test the relationship between variables. The findings of the study are divided into two stages, an outer model evaluation that tests the validity and reliability of research data, and an inner model evaluation that tests the practicality of research instruments. Research findings indicate that variable appeal significantly affects revisit decisions and visiting interests. Subsequently, the interest in visiting has had a significant impact in mediating the appeal of tourist attraction and revisit decisions. Keywords: Tourits Attraction; Revisit Decision; Visiting Interest.

Abstract

In Acehnese society, religion and customs play a significant role in influencing the social structure and order. This is exemplified in one of the hadih madja, which reads, 'Adat bak Poe Teumeureuhom, Hukom bak Syiah Kuala, Qanun bak Putroe Phang, Reusam bak Lakseumana'. From a tourism perspective, Aceh's customary practices offer a framework that allows tourism activities to be conducted in a respectful manner that aligns with local traditions. Meanwhile, principles drawn from Islamic law (sharia) ensure that tourist services meet the needs of travelers in ways that align with the religious values and principles of those travelers. Qanun, as local regulations, provide guidelines for destination management, while reusam reflect customs that can be integrated into the tourism experience. This research employs a qualitative approach with case study analysis in Gampong Nusa to evaluate the efficacy of integrating these values in the development of authentic and sustainable tourism experiences. The findings demonstrate that incorporating these elements in the advancement of halal tourism not only enhances traveller satisfaction but also preserves and reinforces Acehnese culture. By establishing a precise target market and implementing an appropriate marketing strategy, Gampong Nusa has the potential to enhance its reputation as a halal tourist destination.

Abstract

As one of the sites that are vulnerable to damage, historical areas, especially heritage sites, need special attention in their utilization, especially for tourism. In finding a middle ground between conservation needs and tourism utilization efforts, this study presents a scientific breakthrough by combining the concept of urban heritage tourism with tourism carrying capacity. Taking a case study in the Old City Area of Jakarta and an exploratory qualitative-quantitative approach armed with a tourism carrying capacity calculation formula, this study found the fact that the actual perspective is more heavily directed towards tourism interests than conservation. This is indicated by the finding that the number of tourist visits per day exceeds the Effective Carrying Capacity (ECC). Therefore, efforts are needed to spread tourism activities to other points in the destination as in the recommended tourism activity map generated with the help of the Cadmapper software application.

Abstract

This paper explores the critical role of physical geological environments in driving geotourism-based village tourism development in Indonesia, with case studies from Tourism Villages of Alamendah in Bandung and Limbasari in Purbalingga. Using a literature review method with a descriptive-analytical approach, the study highlights how unique geological features, combined with active community participation, contribute to sustainable tourism development. Indonesia, as a megadiverse country, possesses extraordinary geological potential, including volcanic landscapes, geomorphological formations, and mineralogical diversity, offering significant opportunities for geotourism. These natural assets not only enhance the aesthetic and educational value of tourism destinations but also support environmental conservation and local economic empowerment. Desa Wisata Alamendah exemplifies successful integration of geological potential with local economic activities, particularly through agritourism and digital innovation in tourism management. With monthly revenues reaching Rp1.3 billion, the village serves as a model for sustainable tourism. Meanwhile, Desa Limbasari leverages its geological sites, such as pillow lava and green jasper, to attract tourists, significantly benefiting residents. Despite their successes, both villages face challenges, including limited infrastructure, accessibility issues, and the need for greater community engagement. Geotourism aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing poverty reduction, quality education, gender equality, decent work, climate action, and ecosystem preservation. To ensure sustainability, the study recommends strategies encompassing geoheritage certification, improved accessibility, technological adoption for interpretative purposes, and enhanced community participation. The research concludes that the physical environment plays a pivotal role in geotourism development, serving as both an attraction for tourists and a foundation for inclusive, environmentally-friendly local economic growth. By fostering collaboration among governments, tourism stakeholders, and local communities, Indonesia can harness its geological wealth to drive sustainable rural development while preserving its natural and cultural heritage.

Abstract

Post-pandemic shifts in tourist travel patterns have led to the emergence of a new trend commonly referred to as NEWA (Nature, Eco-tourism, Wellness tourism, and Adventure tourism). By emphasizing nature-based tourism concepts, this trend presents a significant opportunity for Wanagiri Village, located in Tabanan Regency, to advance its potential as a village grounded in eco-tourism principles. This study seeks to analyze the tourism potential of Wanagiri Village and to formulate alternative strategic recommendations for the village’s tourism managers in the development of eco-tourism. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, integrating qualitative and quantitative analyses, specifically employing SWOT and AHP frameworks to comprehensively address each research question. Data collection was conducted through surveys, interviews, observations, literature reviews, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling techniques, resulting in a total of ten key informants. The findings indicate that Wanagiri Village possesses substantial potential for development as an eco-tourism-based tourist village, particularly in promoting education and conservation principles aligned with sustainable tourism paradigms. Based on the IFAS-EFAS analysis, the strategic position of Wanagiri Village falls within Quadrant I, which enables tourism managers to pursue aggressive strategies for eco-tourism product development. Furthermore, the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) analysis identified priority strategies for implementation, which include: 1) Developing professional local human resources to enhance the quality and sustainability of eco-tourism activities. 2) Designing eco-tourism packages that integrate visits to the village’s natural attractions. 3) Undertaking promotional activities through social media platforms and the establishment of a dedicated website. 4) Establishing collaborations with foreign investors as tourism business operators, aiming to strengthen the eco-tourism brand and develop bundled eco-tourism products unique to the village.
