Spektrum Communication Journal is an academic journal published quarterly every year every March, June, September, and December by Stikosa-AWS in collaboration with ISKI-Jatim, APJIKI, and ASPIKOM. This journal publishes original researches in multi concepts, theories, perspectives, paradigms and methodologies in the communications studies perspective. The focus of this journal is in the communication studies perspective and the scope of the journal are: Journalistics; Public Relations; Broadcasting (TV and Film); Marketing & Tourism Communication; Media and Studies; Gender Studies; Advertising; Every received article should follow the Author guidelines. Any submitted paper will be reviewed by reviewers. The review process employs Double-blind Review that the reviewer does not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewers.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see (1) how the Golkar Party's political communication strategy is to maintain its victory in the 2024 Garut Regency DPRD legislative election (2) what obstacles the Golkar Party faces in facing the 2024 Garut Regency DPRD legislative election (3) what solutions the Golkar Party has implemented in facing obstacles in the 2024 Garut Regency legislative election. The type of research used is qualitative with observation, interview and documentation methods. The results of this study indicate that (1) the Golkar Party's political communication strategy in winning the 2024 Garut Regency legislative election is to optimize all of the political party's own communication strategies, such as strengthening and selectively selecting a communicator, creating integrated and collaborative communication messages with all teams of each candidate for the council, having various communication media such as approaching community leaders to optimizing online media, and efficiency of audiences/communicants (2) the obstacles faced by the Golkar Party in maintaining its election victory are the industrialization of the party which presents new political parties to the limited freedom of civil servants to speak (3) the solution sought by the Golkar Party in facing obstacles is to continue to strengthen the party coalition and optimize communication media as a real manifestation of adding to the party's vote bank.

Abstract

The urgency of effective communication can build healthy and harmonious relationships between individuals, both in the formal sphere, such as between teachers and students, and in the informal sphere, such as between fellow students. This interpersonal communication will have an impact on social support, which begins with good interpersonal communication, becoming an important element in helping students overcome stress and improve their well-being. Objective: To analyze the relationship between interpersonal communication and social support for STIKES Katolik St. Vicnentius a Paulo Surabaya. Method This type of research is a quantitative correlation research with a cross-sectional design. Research location at the STIKES Katolik St. Vicnentius a Paulo Surabaya in December 2024. St. Vincentius in Paulo Catholic student population. Vincentius in Paulo Surabaya had 424 people with a sample size of 206 people, using simple random sampling. The measurement tools used were the social support questionnaire (Interpersonal Support Evaluation List/ISEL-40) and the interpersonal communication skills scale questionnaire. Using the Spearman Rank statistical test. The results of most interpersonal communication were in the average range of 74.8%. The social support of the respondents was in the average range of 70.4%. Spearman Rank statistical test p = 0.000 positive correlation coefficient 206, namely that there is a weak relationship between interpersonal communication and social support of students. The better the interpersonal skills, the greater the social support of the student. Educational institutions can create an environment conducive to effective interpersonal communication between students, both formal (students and teachers) and informal (among students), so that social support can also be well created in the educational environment.

Abstract

In modern dynamics, culture undergoes a significant transformation due to the influence of globalization and technology. Javanese culture as one of Indonesia's cultural heritage experiences challenges in maintaining identity in the midst of globalization. Film as a medium that has a wide and deep reach, has the potential to reflect culture and shape people's perceptions. The purpose of this study is for how Javanese culture is represented in contemporary artworks such as the film "Losmen Bu Broto" to be important to study. The film "Losmen Bu Broto" is an Indonesian film released in 2021. This film tells the story of a Javanese family who owns an inn called Losmen Bu Broto. The daily life of the Broto family in running its business there are problems that occur that make disputes. In this film is shown cultural symbols that are in harmony with modern life. This research method is a quasi-qualitative research method with John Fiske's semiotic research method. Semiotics is a method that studies a sign analyzed by Fiske's model, which uses 3 levels, namely reality, representation, and ideology. Researchers use a type of quasi-qualitative research to explain intensively and in detail the symptoms and social phenomena chosen by researchers, namely how Javanese culture adapts in the modern era through signs in films.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative research conducted by observing the content of the @batiksemarang16 Instagram account content, related to local pride, to analyse what kind of content strategy is carried out by the account manager in forming brand awareness from the public, especially its followers. The content in the @batiksearang16 account was selected and taken using purposive sampling based on the criteria of the object under study, consisting of posts uploaded between April 2024 and June 2024, having likes above 25, not posts in the form of sales or direct promotion, and related to local pride. The findings from observations and literature studies of previous research obtained by researchers, then analysed using the theory of 4 content pillar social media, where the results of posts in the @batiksemarang16 Instagram account, have implemented the four pillars in the 4 pillars Social Media Strategy, this can be seen from the content uploaded by the account manager @batiksemarang16, always communicating local pride in building brand awareness of the community. in addition, the content of the account content, showing the collaboration that occurs between the manager and external parties within the scope of local pride to support pm although in terms of entertainment it is still less than optimal in forming Brand Awarness to the public within the scope of the Local Pride campaign.

Abstract

Effective communication between family members and children with special needs can improve understanding, support, and quality of daily interactions. Through open and responsive communication, family members can help children with special needs feel supported and valued and help them achieve their quality of life. Parents of children with special needs are very involved in all their children's activities and provide them with care. This study aims to determine the relationship between family communication, attitudes, and acceptance of caring for children with special needs. This study was designed using descriptive causality with a quantitative approach and a positivistic paradigm. The location of the study was the Jabodetabek area. Primary data were obtained directly from selected respondents through structured interviews using questionnaires. The measurement of sample size was carried out using Structural Equation Model Analysis - Partial Least Structural (SEM-PLS)-SmartPLS version 3. The results showed that family interpersonal communication had a significant relationship with attitudes of acceptance of caring for children with special needs. In addition, family communication patterns also influenced attitudes of acceptance, although the effect was minor compared to direct interpersonal communication.

Abstract

Trenggalek Regency organized the Perempuan Hebat Trenggalek Meroket event as part of a public relations initiative for women's empowerment, successfully attracting over 1,700 participants within six months. This research aims to evaluate the event’s effectiveness in empowering women, identify vulnerabilities and provide recommendations through qualitative analysis. This study employs a communication mini-audit to examine four aspects: management, organization, communication, and feedback. The management aspect is analyzed using Joe Goldblatt's event management theory. The researchers collected data through in-depth interviews and documentation. The findings indicate that the event effectively contributed to women's empowerment. Vulnerabilities were identified in the management aspect, particularly in the preparation phase and coordination between the Trenggalek Regency Government and village heads. Additionally, the evaluation process between the Event Organizer and the Trenggalek Regency Government had not been conducted thoroughly. In the communication aspect, vulnerabilities points were identified in the Trenggalek Regency Government's limited communication with village heads and the insufficient publicity of the event's impact

Abstract

As one of the largest ornamental plant-producing countries, Indonesia benefits from its fertile soil and tropical climate, making the cultivation of ornamental plants relatively easy. The agriculture industry in Indonesia, particularly the ornamental plant and nursery sector, has seen significant growth. One of the key players in this sector is Padmaning Garden, which has been operating since 2020 and handles both export and import sales. Over the course of four years, Padmaning Garden has successfully established and maintained its nursery business by implementing effective marketing communication strategies. This study examines the application of "Customer Internal Meaning" in marketing communications at Padmaning Garden, a company offering garden and landscape services. "Customer Internal Meaning" refers to a deep understanding of customers' perceptions, values, and motivations. The research aims to explore how customer perceptions influence the effectiveness of marketing communications and how their engagement can enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. This study contributes to the marketing communication literature by focusing on the agricultural sector, specifically ornamental plant businesses. It also identifies how understanding customer internal meaning can improve marketing strategies and deepen customer relationships. A qualitative approach is employed in this research, utilizing in-depth interviews with the owner, marketing manager, and customers of Padmaning Garden. Data is further supplemented by content analysis of the company's marketing communication materials, such as social media posts and online marketplace content. This research is expected to offer insights into how customer internal meaning can be utilized to enhance marketing communications in the agricultural industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Instagram usage on the social interactions of Universitas Boyolali students, highlighting the phenomenon of phubbing and its effects on the quality of face-to-face communication and social satisfaction levels. Phubbing refers to the behavior of ignoring direct interactions in favor of focusing on mobile phone usage, a phenomenon increasingly common among active social media users, especially Instagram users, within the student demographic. The research adopts John C. Creswell's descriptive qualitative approach and utilizes Miles and Huberman's data analysis techniques. In-depth interviews were conducted with several Universitas Boyolali students who regularly use social media, particularly the Instagram app. The findings reveal that excessive Instagram usage can disrupt the quality of direct social interactions. Most respondents acknowledged that their attention is often diverted by notifications and entertainment features on Instagram, leading to a decline in face-to-face communication quality. Furthermore, the phenomenon of phubbing has the potential to damage interpersonal relationships, with respondents emphasizing the importance of time management in Instagram usage. This study also highlights the importance of self-awareness in managing social media usage to maintain the quality of social relationships and direct communication. The findings contribute to understanding the impact of social media on student social interactions and offer insights for individuals and educational institutions to manage the negative effects of excessive social media use.

Abstract

The relocation of the capital city of Indonesia from Jakarta to East Kalimantan is a strategic policy that presents various challenges, including complex political conflicts. This conflict involves the rejection by indigenous communities regarding land rights, concerns about environmental impacts, and the lack of public participation in the decision-making process. This research aims to examine the role of communication in managing the political conflicts arising from this policy. Through the application of Conflict Theory by Littlejohn, Constructive Controversy by Peter T. Coleman, and the Theory of Cooperation and Competition by Morton Deutsch, this research analyzes the role of communication in alleviating conflicts, building cooperation, and achieving consensus among stakeholders. This research applies the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to identify studies related to political communication and conflict resolution in the context of public policy during the period 2022–2024. The research findings indicate that public resistance can be attributed to the inadequacy of inclusive narratives and the lack of participatory dialogue. A communication approach that prioritizes collaboration through constructive dialogue and narratives reflecting shared interests has the potential to transform destructive conflicts into more productive negotiation processes. The conclusion drawn from this study is a recommendation for the implementation of clearer communication strategies, involving all parties, and focusing on collaboration to create agreements among stakeholders.

Abstract

This study aims to get a real picture of persuasive communication in the student learning process at PTPN Computer Laboratory 4 Batu Sondat Village, and also find out the teacher's efforts in achieving student attitudes and character through central and peripheral pathways.This research uses a descriptive approach with qualitative methods. The subjects of the study were teachers and students of PTPN 4 Batu Sondat computer laboratory. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed, using motivational persuasive communication techniques and the theory of Elaboration Likelihood Model with central pathways and peripheral pathways can affect students' understanding of computer science cognitively, affectively, and conatively.
