Abstract

Abstract

Sexist language in literary texts often reflects and reinforces unequal gender relations through both explicit and subtle linguistic strategies. In contemporary Indonesian literature, such representations can reveal how gendered power relations and resistance are constructed through narrative language. This study investigates the types of sexist expressions and the construction of gendered power and verbal resistance in the novel Re: dan Perempuan. The research aims to identify how sexist expressions are linguistically realized and how gendered power relations are represented within the narrative. The study employed Sara Mills’ feminist stylistics to classify overt and covert sexism, while Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis is used to examine how linguistic features construct power relations and shape the possibility of verbal resistance. The findings reveal that sexism in the novel is realized through both overt and covert forms. Overt sexism appears through derogatory terms, negative evaluative lexis, and sexist naming practices that directly degrade women’s identity. Meanwhile, covert sexism operates through representational strategies such as backgrounding women’s voices, reinforcing gendered role stereotypes, and foregrounding male authority within narrative structures. These linguistic patterns construct gendered power relations by limiting women’s agency and positioning them within subordinate social roles. Furthermore, verbal resistance is shown to be constrained within the narrative, as women’s voices are frequently mediated through evaluative language, categorization, and emotional internalization rather than direct confrontation. Overall, the study demonstrates that language in the novel functions not only as a medium of storytelling but also as a mechanism through which gender hierarchy is reproduced and negotiated.

Abstract

Hypertension is a leading cause of premature mortality worldwide and remains a major challenge in healthcare, as it requires long-term therapy with sustained treatment adherence. Therapeutic success is strongly influenced by patients’ regularity in medication use, yet adherence often poses a clinical barrier. This study aimed to analyze the influence of demographic, clinical, and lifestyle factors on medication adherence and blood pressure control among hypertensive outpatients at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital. A cross-sectional design was employed using primary and secondary data collected from March to June 2025. A total of 369 respondents were recruited through purposive sampling. Most participants were ?60 years (71%), female (54.2%), highly educated (63.7%), married (93%), unemployed (55.6%), and had comorbidities (84%). Overall, 80.5% of respondents were adherent to medication, while 62.1% achieved controlled blood pressure, consisting of 22.3% aged <60 years with <140/90 mmHg and 77.7% aged ?60 years with <150/90 mmHg. Bivariate analysis revealed that the clinical factor of Body Mass Index (BMI) (p=0.004) and the lifestyle factor of alcohol consumption (p=0.039) significantly influenced treatment adherence. Furthermore, demographic factor of age (p=0.026), clinical factor of BMI (p=0.004), and lifestyle factor of physical exercise (p=0.017) were significantly associated with blood pressure control. In conclusion, most hypertensive outpatients were adherent to therapy, but blood pressure control remained suboptimal. Clinical factors (BMI) and lifestyle factors (alcohol consumption) significantly influenced adherence, whereas demographic (age), clinical (BMI), and lifestyle (exercise) factors significantly influenced blood pressure control.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to explore the History of the Tuaninu Traditional Village in Kusa Belu, East Nusa Tenggara; the Meaning and Value of Each Element within the Tuaninu Traditional Village in Kusa Belu, East Nusa Tenggara; and the Current Condition of the Tuaninu Traditional Village in Kusa Belu, East Nusa Tenggara. Informants were selected using purposive sampling technique. The data sources used in this research include primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques involved observation, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis technique: historical analysis. The research results indicate that: The history of Tuaninu, as recorded in oral tradition, is a narrative of mobility, political strategy, and identity formation within the power networks of Wehali-Wewiku and the sandalwood trade economy. This traditional village is a living cultural landscape, where each element such as settlement patterns, banyan trees, fortresses, bahane (ritual objects), traditional houses, and heirloom objects serves as active symbols and learning media that reproduce the community's value system and cosmology. The close interrelation among these elements creates a sacred space that preserves the transmission of religious, social, moral, and historical values across generations. Physically and ritually, the village still maintains traditional architecture, prohibits modern buildings in the core area, and preserves heirloom objects. The main challenge is the decreasing number of young generations residing in the village. However, strong belief in ancestors and customary rules forms the foundation of cultural resilience, making Tuaninu a living space that continuously integrates spirituality, identity, and local knowledge in a holistic manner.

Abstract

Despite the critical role of regional government owned Islamic Rural Banks (Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Syariah/BPRS) in advancing local financial inclusion, empirical understanding of how government support shapes innovative organizational behavior and, through it, customer relationship management quality and marketing performance remains limited. This study examined the influence of Government Support on Individual and Organizational Innovative Work Behaviour (IWB), the subsequent effects of both IWB dimensions on four Customer Relationship Management (CRM) components: Customer Orientation, CRM Organization, CRM Knowledge Management, and Technology-Based CRM, and the implications of these CRM dimensions for Marketing Result. A quantitative explanatory design was adopted, with data collected from 129 purposively sampled employees and analyzed by Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that Government Support positively and significantly influences both Individual and Organizational IWB, with the latter demonstrating stronger downstream effects on all CRM dimensions. Among the CRM components, Customer Orientation and Technology-Based CRM emerged as the most consequential pathways to improved Marketing Result, with the model explaining a substantial proportion of variance in the outcome variable. These results establish Government Support as a strategic institutional resource that catalyzes innovative work behaviour, and identify Technology-Based CRM as the most effective mechanism for enhancing marketing performance in government-owned BPRS. The study extends the model of Nicolescu and Ripa (2024) by incorporating Government Support as an upstream antecedent, offering theoretical contributions to the CRM and innovation literature and practical implications for regional governments and banking regulators.
