Abstract

Waste is waste resulting from activities from households, offices and others. The amount of waste generated nationally is 175,000 tons per day or the equivalent of 64 million tons per year if using environmental assumptions, which can cause various problems including: beauty and comfort as well as human health problems, both within the individual, family and community scope.This research aims to determine the ability of local microorganisms from banana weevils in the household waste composting process to speed up decomposition. The type of research used in this research is a field experiment by carrying out treatment tests three times. The results of the research showed that compost with the addition of 150 ml MOL banana weevils took 20 days for composting, whereas for compost with the addition of 100 ml MOL banana weevils the composting time took 21 days and for compost with the addition of 50 ml MOL banana weevils for 21 days. The length of composting time is greatly influenced by the microorganisms present in the MOL added to the compost. Based on SNI 7030- 2004, the size of the material used for compost maturity requirements such as the C/N ratio has a value of (10-20):1. The conclusion of this research is that banana weevil MOL is able to degrade waste into compost according to SNI standards. From the three tests that have been carried out, the most effective result is the addition of 150ml of banana weevil MOL. It is better for people to use banana weevils as compost and for agricultural purposes because they can degrade waste.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition where the hemoglobin level in the blood is lower than normal due to a lack of essential nutrients, especially iron. The prevalence of anemia in Indonesia aged 5-14 years is 26.80%, aged 15-24 years is 32% and in South Sulawesi is 32%. Factors associated with anemia include low economic status, poor diet, and compliance with the consumption of blood supplement tablets. This study aims to determine the relationship between compliance with the consumption of blood supplement tablets and the incidence of anemia in young women. This type of research is descriptive correlational research using a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 31 female students of Muhammadiyah 9 Berua Middle School who were selected as samples. The statistical analysis used was the Che Square test. The results of the statistical test showed that the majority of young women had complied with taking additional blood tablets, namely 17 people (54.8%), the majority of young women did not experience anemia, namely 23 people (74.2%) and The relationship between compliance with consuming blood supplement tablets and the incidence of anemia shows a value of p=0.038 (p<0.05). Based on the results of statistical tests, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between compliance with consuming blood supplement tablets and the incidence of anemia in young women at Muhammadiyah 9 Berua Middle School

Abstract

Various things can affect motor development in early childhood, both internal and external factors. Stimulation in the form of puzzles is one of the factors that increase children's fine motor development. The purpose of this study is to prove the effect of offering jigsaw puzzles to improve fine motor development in preschool children. The research method used was experimental with intervention and control groups and using simple random sampling technique with a total of 25 samples. The intervention group consists of 13 children who are given puzzles and the control group, consisting of 12 children, are given freedom to play other games such as playing in the field. The results showed an increase in fine motor development in preschool children at Tk Santo Yoseph Denpasar after being given a puzzle, as evidenced by the Wilcoxon Test results of 0.005 (p<0.05) in the intervention group during the pre- and post-test and the results of the Mann-Whitney Test posttest data of 0.021 (p<0.05). Based on the research that has been conducted, it can be concluded that there is an effect of offering puzzles on children's fine motor development and changes in the level of children's fine motor development in the intervention group after they have been given puzzles.

Abstract

Domestic waste water is a very potential source of water pollution because it contains hazardous and toxic substances that are pathogenic and can cause health problems, so it needs to be treated before being discharged into water bodies. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of constructed wetlands and coagulation in reducing BOD and TSS levels of domestic wastewater. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control design, namely testing the samples before and after processing. The independent variable in this study is a combination of constructed wetlands and coagulation with the dependent variables namely BOD and TSS levels. The data were analyzed descriptively by looking at the differences in the decrease after going through the treatment on the processing media. The results showed a decrease in the average initial levels of BOD and TSS after treatment with a combination of constructed wetlands and coagulation, the average BOD level decreased to 12.3 mg/l (94.9%). Meanwhile, the average TSS level decreased to 1.6 mg/l (98.3%). It was concluded that research on combinations of constructed wetlands and coagulation had an effect on reducing BOD and TSS levels of domestic wastewater based on Regulation of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia Number 68 of 2016 so that it was suggested to the public to use this treatment in treating domestic wastewater and for further research it is best to acclimatize water hyacinth plants first before use.

Abstract

Based on anemia data obtained from the results of medical records at the Lepo-lepo Health Center in Kendari, 128 (11.07%) pregnant women experienced anemia from 1,156 patients who checked their pregnancy in 2013, there were 112 (6.68%) pregnant women who experienced anemia from 1,675 patients checked their pregnancy, and in 2014 was 97 (5.48%) pregnant women had anemia from 1,768 patients who checked their pregnancy. This study aimed to analyze the sociocultural relations and family support with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. The research method used was analytic observational with a Cross-Sectional Study approach. The total sample was 33 pregnant women with a purposive sampling technique. The study found that most pregnant women still experienced anemia due to a lack of family support. The amount of family support a mother receives affects the anemia of pregnant women. This effect can interfere with the psychological health of pregnant women, such as experiencing stress. For the mother to feel calm and at ease during pregnancy, it is hoped that the pregnant woman's family can provide full support so that there is a sociocultural relationship and family support with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women with each value ρ <α (0.05). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between sociocultural and family support with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. As a recommendation in research to improve sociocultural relationships and family support with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women

Abstract

Nutrition is one of the most common health problems in Indonesia. Being under or overnourished will affect their development. Children who are malnourished will experience reduced physical, cognitive and mental growth. In order to improve knowledge, attitudes and practices of healthy food selection, school-age children need nutrition education. Providing nutrition education can be done using various media such as visual media. This research is a quasy experimental research with pre-post intervention study. The population was students at SDN Kedunghalang 2 Bogor. The samples in the intervention and control groups were 5th grade students at SDN Kedunghalang 2 Bogor who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The data were analysed by inferential statistics using paired sample t-test, Wilcoxon test, independent sample t-test, and Mann-Whitney test. This study included 47 grade 5 students at SDN Kedunghalang 2 Bogor. Total female subjects were 26 and male subjects were 21. A total of 18 people stated that nutriplay media is very interesting as a nutrition education media. There was a significant increase in knowledge in the intervention and control groups. However, there were no significant differences in attitudes and practices between the two groups. Nutriplay is a nutrition education media that can be well received by elementary school students and can increase subject knowledge. The attitudes and practices of the subjects did not improve significantly because it takes a long time and there is a need for the involvement of teachers and families in nutrition education programmes, so it is better not only the role of students to be involved in providing nutrition education. Abstract

Food poisoning cases in Indonesia are still high. The Ministry of Health recorded 81 food poisoning outbreaks in the last three years 2020-2022 with 3,514 cases. Based on the inspection results of the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) in 2021. The main cause is due to the presence of damaged, expired, and unlicensed products. In addition, other causes are due to poor sanitation practices. This study aims to determine the Sanitation Condition of Meatball Milling Places and the Bacteriological Quality of Meatballs at Pabaeng-Baeng Market, Makassar City.  This type of research is descriptive and supported by laboratory examination, the sampling technique used is Total Sampling, the population in this study were all meat mills located in Pabeng-Baeng Market, Makassar City and the samples used were 9 meatball ground dough.The results of this study obtained 7 hyginen of meat milling handlers did not meet the requirements, 9 building conditions did not meet the requirements, and 9 equipment cleanliness did not meet the requirements of PERMENKES No. 1096 of 2011 and in the laboratory examination for Salmonella parameters found that there were 6 samples that were detected positive for Salmonella bacteria did not meet the requirements of SNI 7388: 2009 concerning the Maximum Limit of Microbial Contamination in Food. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the processing site items do not meet the requirements and there are samples that are positive for salmonella bacteria. advice given to market managers to pay attention to the sanitary conditions of the processing site. Abstract

Staphylococcus sp bacteria can cause infection in diabetic ulcers. Treatment of infections can use antibiotics, but the use of antibiotics can have negative impacts such as bacterial resistance to antibiotics. The aim of this research is to determine the results of identifying the bacteria Staphylococcus sp. (Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis) in diabetic ulcers and bacterial sensitivity to the antibiotics gentamicin, clindamycin, chloramphenicol and ciprofloxacin. The research design in this study used descriptive observational. The samples in this study were taken by accidental sampling in the period November to December 2023, resulting in 10 samples. Bacterial identification was carried out using biochemical test methods and sensitivity tests using the Kirby-Bauer method. The results of the bacterial identification research found Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in 7 out of 10 samples and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria in 3 out of 10 samples. The results of the sensitivity test concluded that the bacteria Staphylococcus sp. sensitive to the antibiotics gentamicin by 70%, clindamycin by 50%, chloramphenicol by 70% and ciprofloxacin by 70%.

Abstract

Consumption of unhealthy snacks in children is caused by a lack of knowledge about healthy snacks. Consumption of snacks is something that is characteristic of children. Snacks that are bought by children are often not considered either in terms of cleanliness or the ingredients in these foods. This study is to determine the level of knowledge to determine the level of knowledge of school children's snacks before and after counseling, to determine the level of school children's snacking habits, and to analyze the effect of nutrition counseling on the level of knowledge of elementary school children's snacks. The design of this study is a pre-experimental study with a one group pre-test and post-test design at SD IT Al-Fikri Makassar in 2023. The population is students in grades 4, 5 and 6. The sample size is 59 people. Knowledge and eating habits are known by giving questionnaires to students. Statistical test with paired test T test. The study found that the sample was generally class 6B (37.3%), 11 years old (28.8%), 24 women (40.7%) and 35 men (59.3%). The level of knowledge before and after counseling was good (52.5%) and (84.7%). The habit of snacking before and after counseling is good (47.5%) and (44.1%). Statistical analysis revealed that there was an effect of counseling with a value of p = 0.000. There was no effect of counseling with p value = 0.281. There was an effect of counseling on the level of knowledge of elementary school children's snacks before and after counseling. There was no effect of counseling on snack habits of elementary school children. There was an effect of nutrition counseling on the level of knowledge of snacks of elementary school children. For students who have knowledge of snacks in the good category so that they remain clever in choosing snacks at school. It is expected that teachers will monitor the habits of snacks and food sold in school canteens and food vendors in the school environment so that students do not consume snacks carelessly to prevent health problems. For students who have a habit of snacking in the good category to maintain these habits.

Abstract

A common nutritional problem among pregnant women is macro and micronutrient deficiencies manifested in chronic energy deficiency (CED). The prevalence of CED among pregnant women in Indonesia is still quite high. Counseling aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women who will form good nutrition fulfillment behavior. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of nutrition counseling on the knowledge and intake of pregnant women with CED. Pre-experiment research design with one-group pre-test post-test design. This study was conducted in the Bontoa Health Center Area of Maros Regency for three weeks. The sampling technique was the purposive sampling technique. The sampling was 10 pregnant women who had an upper arm circumference below 23.5 cm. Data on knowledge level was collected through the pre-post test. Data on intake was collected before and during the intervention three times using 24-hour food recall. The effect of counseling on the knowledge of pregnant women was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test, while the effect of counseling on the intake of pregnant women using the Paired Sample T-test test. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a difference in knowledge before and after counseling (p=0.005). The difference in the intake of pregnant women before and after counseling in energy intake (p=0.000), protein (p=0.007), fat (p=0.035), and carbohydrates (p=0.001). Likewise, the intake of vitamin C (p=0.022) and iron (p=0.017). This study concludes that the implementation of nutrition counseling for three weeks can improve knowledge and intake in pregnant women with CED.
