Abstract

Out-of-School Children (OOSC), school dropouts, and graduates who do not continue their education remain challenges in educational development in Bone Bolango Regency. This study aims to examine the role of the Bone Bolango Regency Office of Education and Culture in reducing the rates of OOSC, dropouts, and non-continuing graduates through the use of Verification and Validation (Verval) data from Pusdatin of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and actual field conditions. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews with the Head of the Office of Education and Culture and Subdistrict Education Coordinators, supported by quantitative data from the Verval system. The findings indicate that the Office has implemented several efforts, including strengthening non-formal education services through community learning centers (PKBM), conducting data collection and community outreach, and planning affirmative programs such as scholarships and school uniform assistance. However, these efforts have not been fully effective due to data inaccuracies, weak cross-sector coordination, and the absence of a strong early detection system at the school level.

Abstract

The tourism and hospitality sector are a strategic contributor to regional economic growth; however, many Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in this sector continue to experience challenges in applying effective financial management practices, particularly in adopting digital budgeting systems. Following the development of an Android-based financial management application utilizing the Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) approaches, this community service activity focuses on the socialization and practical implementation of the HospiBudget application for hospitality and tourism MSMEs in West Java. The socialization program was designed to address the gap between technological innovation and users’ financial literacy and digital capability. Activities included guided training sessions, hands-on application usage, and discussions on zero-based budgeting concepts tailored to hospitality operations. The program was conducted with MSME participants in the hospitality and tourism sector across several regions in West Java. The results indicate that the socialization significantly enhanced participants’ understanding of ZBB principles, improved their ability to utilize digital budgeting tools, and increased awareness of cost efficiency and cash flow control. This activity demonstrates that application socialization is a critical continuation stage of digital innovation, ensuring that technological solutions such as HospiBudget are effectively adopted and contribute to improved financial governance, business sustainability, and competitiveness of hospitality and tourism MSMEs

Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology (fintech) in the era of Society 5.0 presents both opportunities and challenges for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in achieving business sustainability. Although the adoption of digital financial services continues to increase, the level of fintech literacy among MSMEs remains relatively low, potentially leading to risks in financial management and business decision-making. This community service program aims to enhance fintech literacy through the harmonization of the roles of Bank Indonesia with academics, industry partners, and community stakeholders in supporting MSME business sustainability. The program employed a participatory applied research approach using a hybrid method that combined offline and online activities. The activities included needs assessment, fintech literacy socialization, lectures, and participatory discussions involving representatives from Bank Indonesia, MSME actors, academics, students, and other relevant stakeholders. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of fintech concepts, the benefits and risks of digital financial services, and the importance of responsible and sustainable fintech utilization. The harmonization of roles among stakeholders proved effective in strengthening educational outcomes and increasing MSMEs’ awareness of prudent digital financial practices. This program is expected to serve as an initial collaborative model for strengthening fintech literacy to support sustainable business development in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

The natural disasters that hit the Aceh and Sumatra regions at the end of 2025 require a quick response to help the victims. This community service activity aims to collect and distribute aid in a targeted manner to survivors in Aceh Tamiang and Central Tapanuli. The method used is a community-based approach with three main stages: collecting data on needs, raising funds, and distribution through partnership channels. As a result, within a period of 12 days (2-13 December 2025), the team succeeded in collecting funds amounting to IDR 13,800,000 as well as various logistical assistance, such as clothing suitable for use. All aid was distributed in collaboration with BAZNAS Karimun, BMH, and the alumni network, who served as volunteers at disaster locations. The evaluation shows that the involvement of alumni and official institutions is very effective in ensuring transparency and speeding up the delivery of aid to people in need. This activity proves that synergy between universities and social institutions has an important role in strengthening solidarity and accelerating the post-disaster community recovery process.

Abstract

Older adults are a population group that experiences various declines in physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functions, which may increase vulnerability to psychological problems, one of which is loneliness. Loneliness among older adults can have negative effects on mental health, quality of life, and the ability to adapt to the social environment, particularly for those living in residential care facilities. One intervention that may reduce loneliness is reminiscence therapy, a therapeutic approach that encourages individuals to recall and reflect on meaningful life experiences. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of reminiscence therapy in reducing loneliness among older adults at elderly care home-Panti Sosial Belas Kasih. This study employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. Levels of loneliness were measured before and after the implementation of reminiscence therapy using the UCLA Loneliness Scale. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving 12 older adults as participants. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test to determine differences in loneliness levels before and after the intervention. The results indicated a significant reduction in loneliness following the implementation of reminiscence therapy, with a p-value < 0.001 (α < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that reminiscence therapy is effective in reducing loneliness among older adults at elderly care home-Panti Sosial Belas Kasih. Therefore, reminiscence therapy can be recommended as a psychosocial intervention that is practical and easy to implement to enhance the psychological well-being of older adults.

Abstract

Strengthening local potential is a concept to create independent and prosperous villages. One supporting initiative is utilizing coconut shell waste into charcoal briquettes. Indonesia is the world's largest coconut producer. One such area is Billapora Rebba Village, Lenteng Subdistrict, Sumenep Regency, though this potential remains unoptimized. Collective community awareness and bureaucratic support are needed to build micro-enterprise ecosystems or home-scale utilization benefiting society. This awareness can be initiated through Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) activities. The purpose of this writing is to manifest or document a widely and periodically accessible record in journal article form. The research method is Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), a community development approach. Results show coconut shell waste can be turned into briquettes, as demonstrated by simulations and socialization

Abstract

Health significantly influences the learning quality of vocational high school students. However, many of them still have poor dietary habits, insufficient sleep, and difficulty managing their mood. The concept of "Good Food, Good Sleep, Good Mood" serves as a crucial foundation for improving physical and mental balance. Health education interventions are effective measures to help students improve their lifestyle habits. Through counseling, guidance, evidence-based educational materials, and interactive activities, it is expected that students' understanding of the importance of diet, sleep, and emotional management can be enhanced. Questionnaire results at Muhammadiyah 04 Samarinda Vocational High School indicate low consumption of fruits and vegetables, unhealthy eating habits, and poor sleep quality. Based on these conditions, a community service activity was conducted through health education to encourage students to adopt healthy habits and improve their mood and academic performance.

Abstract

The Student Creativity Program (PKM) is carried out to help improve the quality and competitiveness of MSMEs selling fried rice through an educational approach and the development of digital marketing strategies. The program integrates three main aspects: hygiene education, strengthening visual brand identity, and implementation of digital marketing strategies. The implementation method uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach which includes field observation, hygiene training, business visual identity design, and promotional assistance through social media. The results of the program showed a significant increase in the number of customers (35% average), daily sales, and the level of public awareness of the brand. The implementation of hygiene standards also increases consumer confidence. This program proves that structured assistance can accelerate the growth of culinary MSMEs and is expected to be a reference for empowering similar MSMEs in urban areas.

Abstract

Health education on the importance of proper handwashing was conducted as part of efforts to prevent infectious diseases in the school environment. Handwashing is a clean and healthy lifestyle behavior (PHBS) that is very simple to perform yet has a significant impact on reducing the incidence of diseases, particularly diarrhea, acute respiratory infections (ARI), influenza, and skin infections. These diseases are generally caused by viruses, bacteria, and germs that are often transmitted through dirty hands. Therefore, education on correct handwashing techniques needs to be provided early to students, considering that schools are high-activity environments with intense interaction among individuals. This outreach activity aims to increase students' knowledge about the benefits of handwashing, the appropriate times to wash hands, and the practice of the six-step handwashing method according to WHO standards. In addition to enhancing knowledge, this activity also aims to build daily habits so that students can independently, consistently, and correctly apply handwashing. This activity was carried out at SMK Istiqomah Muhammadiyah 4 Samarinda with 22 respondents. The outreach was conducted through several stages: a pre-test, an interactive lecture, a direct handwashing demonstration, hands-on practice by students, and a post-test as the final evaluation. The media used in this activity included PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, and posters illustrating handwashing steps. The lecture method was chosen to provide a fundamental understanding of what handwashing is and why it is important. Furthermore, the demonstration aimed to clearly show the six-step handwashing technique, covering rubbing the palms, back of the hands, between fingers, back of fingers, thumbs, and fingertips. This stage greatly helped students understand the difference between ordinary handwashing and correct, effective handwashing. The results of the activity showed that students' knowledge increased significantly after the outreach. Based on the pre-test results, some students only had "fair" and "poor" levels of knowledge, but after the material delivery and demonstration, there was a significant increase in the "good" category. Additionally, most students were able to correctly practice the six-step handwashing method during the evaluation stage. The students appeared enthusiastic, actively asked questions, and participated in all activities from start to finish. This activity is a concrete form of promotive and preventive efforts that are crucial to be carried out continuously to support the creation of a clean, healthy, and infectious disease-free school environment.
