Abstract

English language skills have become essential in today’s world, yet introducing them to young learners frequently encounters challenges like disinterest and insufficient teaching materials. At SDN 1 Gunung Batu, traditional teaching approaches frequently foster the belief that English is a challenging and daunting subject. This Community Service Program (PKM-PM) aims to bridge this gap by introducing English through an interactive approach titled "Fun English Games."The program focuses on creating a low-stress environment where students can acquire basic vocabulary through kinesthetic and visual engagement. The implementation involves a series of structured activities, including Flashcards for visual recognition, Simon Says for listening comprehension, and Scavenger Hunts for contextual learning. By shifting the focus from rote memorization to active play, the program seeks to build students' confidence and foster a positive initial spark toward foreign language learning. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to establish a foundation of English literacy and demonstrate that language acquisition can be both accessible and entertaining for children in rural educational settings.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve lecturers’ financial literacy through fundamental stock analysis training at Universitas Negeri Makassar. The program was conducted in response to the gap between increasing financial inclusion and adequate levels of financial literacy, including among higher education lecturers. The training applied a participatory approach using a learning by doing method and utilized audited financial statements of publicly listed companies as practical learning materials. Program evaluation was carried out descriptively by comparing pre-test and post-test results and administering a participant satisfaction questionnaire. The results show an increase in the average financial literacy score from 45 in the pre-test to 85 in the post-test, representing a 40-point improvement. In addition, lecturers’ interest in stock market investment reached 68 percent, with an average satisfaction score of 4.7 on a five-point Likert scale. These findings indicate that practice-based training is effective in enhancing lecturers’ financial literacy.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life is essential for infant health and development. However, early introduction of complementary feeding (MP-ASI) before six months of age is still commonly practiced and may increase the risk of digestive disorders. This study aimed to describe early complementary feeding practices and their effects on infant digestive health. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, conducted at the Village Maternity Post (Polindes) of Grujugan Village from December to January 2025, with mothers of infants and health workers selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that early complementary feeding is associated with digestive problems such as diarrhea and constipation due to the immaturity of the infant digestive system, as well as cultural influences and parental misconceptions. Therefore, exclusive breastfeeding and age-appropriate complementary feeding are crucial to support optimal infant growth and development.

Abstract

Community service through a university KKN program supported the digitalization of two rural microenterprises by strengthening branding and improving digital payment literacy. The program focused on Kripik Srikandi and a local tofu producer. Activities included a rapid needs assessment, brand identity refinement (logo, packaging label, product photos, and basic social media setup), and training on the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) to reduce cash dependence and increase transaction convenience. Evaluation used observation, short interviews, and a pre–post knowledge check with owners and family members involved in daily operations. Results show clearer product identity, more consistent packaging information, and improved understanding of QRIS concepts, requirements, and transaction flow. This integrated approach is feasible for short-term KKN timelines and can be replicated for similar villages to accelerate MSME readiness for the digital economy.

Abstract

Slow learners are students who experience slower learning processes compared to their peers and therefore require adaptive and contextual learning strategies. One effective approach is the use of visual media as a learning stimulus. This study aims to describe visual media-based learning strategies to improve the understanding of slow learner children in Grujugan Village. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of slow learner children, teachers, and parents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the use of visual media such as pictures, diagrams, and concrete teaching aids significantly improves students’ focus, participation, and conceptual understanding. Furthermore, the integration of visual media with repetition techniques and individualized instruction positively influences students’ motivation and self-confidence. Despite challenges such as limited learning resources and teachers’ time constraints, educators’ creativity and environmental support contribute to successful learning outcomes. This study concludes that visual media-based learning strategies are effective in enhancing slow learners’ understanding and are suitable for implementation in inclusive education, particularly in rural areas.

Abstract

Students’ interest in stock investment has increased alongside the growth of financial technology and easier access to capital markets. However, this interest is not fully supported by adequate understanding of investment risks and risk management strategies. This community service program aimed to improve Business Administration students’ understanding of stock investment and risk management as a basis for rational investment decision-making. The program was implemented through preparation, educational activities, and evaluation using an educative and participatory approach. The results show that although students initially had limited knowledge of investment risks, their understanding and perception of risk improved after the program. This activity contributes positively to enhancing students’ financial literacy in higher education.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency in secondary education environments is a multidimensional problem that includes violent behavior, bullying, and risky sexual behavior, which impacts adolescents' psychosocial development and the school climate. This study aims to analyze the role of preventive health education as a strategy to prevent juvenile delinquency in secondary education settings. The study uses a descriptive qualitative design with a contextual approach, conducted at a secondary school in an urban area. The research subjects include students, teachers, and guidance counselors directly involved in preventive health education activities. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, semi-structured interviews, and document studies, while data analysis employed thematic analysis with source and technique triangulation. The research results indicate that preventive health education conducted through counseling and interactive discussions can increase adolescents' understanding of the concepts of violence, bullying, and the risks of risky sexual behavior. Students showed increased awareness of healthy behavioral boundaries, openness in discussions, and active participation during activities. Teachers and counselors assessed that preventive health education helps in efforts to prevent adolescent problems in schools. This study concludes that preventive health education plays a strategic role in preventing juvenile delinquency and needs to be sustainably integrated into school programs to support healthy and adaptive adolescent development.

Abstract

This community service program aims to empower final-year students (santri) at Al-Rifa’ie 1 Islamic Boarding School through the epistemological reconstruction of "khidmah" leadership. The primary issue addressed is the gap between textual Islamic literature mastery (Nalar Bayani) and the students' lack of self-confidence and courage in leading public religious rituals, such as tahlil, istighosah, and serving as prayer imams. The mentoring strategy was implemented by integrating a Sanad-Centric approach (spiritual connection to the founders' lineage) and strengthening self-efficacy using audio imitation methods of the original voice of the boarding school's founder. Systematic steps included the distribution of pocketbooks as unification instruments, sanad transmission (ijazahan), collective practice, and rigorous evaluation stages involving supervised exams and public assessments through a random lottery system. The results indicate a significant transformation in the students' identity, where psychological barriers such as nervousness were successfully converted into mental stability and social legitimacy. This program has successfully established uniform alumni competency standards that are spiritually authoritative and technically prepared to serve as religious ritual leaders within the community.
