Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using the GeoGebra application on students’ motivation and conceptual understanding of mathematics in the topic of flat-faced solid shapes. The research employed an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two classes divided into an experimental group, which used GeoGebra in learning, and a control group, which applied conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through conceptual understanding tests, motivation questionnaires before and after treatment, and classroom activity observations. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant increase in mathematics conceptual understanding with an average n-gain of 0.65 (medium to high category), compared to the control group, which only achieved an n-gain of 0.41 (low to medium category). Additionally, the motivation of students in the experimental group increased significantly, with 78% of students reaching a high motivation category, while the control group had only 42%. Observations revealed that GeoGebra encouraged students to actively discuss, explore, and interact with the learning material. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of GeoGebra is effective in improving both motivation and conceptual understanding in mathematics learning on the topic of flat-faced solid shapes. This study recommends educators to integrate visual technology-based learning tools to enhance the quality of mathematics teaching and learning processes

Abstract

This study aims to improve elementary school students’ numeracy skills through the implementation of game-based learning at SDN Kebon Pala 04 Pagi. Numeracy is one of the essential basic competencies in education; however, results from the National Assessment indicate that Indonesian students, particularly at the elementary level, still demonstrate low numeracy proficiency. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, conducted in two cycles involving planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Educational games such as number puzzles, interactive quizzes, and both digital and manual counting games were used to support the learning process. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ average scores, from 60.5 in the pre-test to 72.3 in the first cycle, and 81.7 in the second cycle. The percentage of students achieving the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC) also increased substantially from 40% to 75%. Moreover, game-based learning positively impacted students’ motivation and attitudes toward mathematics. The reflection process in each cycle enabled continuous refinement of learning strategies to make them more adaptive and effective. Therefore, game-based learning proves to be an enjoyable, interactive, and effective alternative strategy for enhancing numeracy skills among elementary school students

Abstract

Natural Sciences (IPA) have a crucial role in encouraging innovation and increasing product competitiveness, especially in the small and medium industry (IKM) sector. This research aims to examine the application of science concepts in the process of innovation of IKM products, identify the challenges faced, and explore the potential for collaboration between academics and industry in strengthening the innovation ecosystem. The results of the study show that a number of SMEs have begun to integrate basic principles of chemistry, physics, and biology in the production process, which has an impact on improving product efficiency, quality, and sustainability. However, there are still significant obstacles, such as limited access to experts, laboratory facilities, and a lack of science-based training. These findings underscore the importance of policy support and synergy between the education sector, government, and industry to create an inclusive and sustainable science-based innovation ecosystem. With the right approach, the application of science in the SME sector can not only increase the competitiveness of local products, but also accelerate the transition to a knowledge-based economy

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has significantly influenced students’ lifestyles, particularly the increasing intensity of online gaming. For students in the Islamic Education (PAI) Program at University Muhammadiyah Bandung, who are expected to exemplify Islamic value, the habit of playing online games may affect religious discipline, time management, and spiritual awareness. This study aims to determine: (1) the level of online gaming intensity; (2) the level of Islamic values implementation; and (3) the influence of online gaming intensity on the implementation of Islamic values among students in the Islamic Education. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a sample 80 students selected through simple random sampling. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and documentation, while data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, simple linear regression, and the coefficient of determination. The result showed that both online gaming intensity (82%) and the implementation of Islamic values (84%) were categorized as high. Regression analysis indicated a significant influence of gaming intensity on the implementation of Islamic values (Sig. 0,017 < 0,05), with an effect size 7%. These findings emphasize the importance of self-regulation, time management, and continuous Islamic character development to ensure that digital engagement does not undermine students’ religious commitment.

Abstract

The efforts of PAI teachers in strengthening the values of tasamuh conducted by PAI teachers at SMP IT Sains Al Biruni are implemented through a mentoring program. This is necessary because there is still a lack of mutual respect and appreciation among students in the environment of SMP IT Sains Al Biruni Bandung, especially in the 7th grade. Although this school is based on Islamic values and all students are Muslim, there are still verbal conflicts and attitudes that indicate that the values of tasamuh (tolerance) have not been fully instilled. One of the ways teachers strengthen character in this school is through a mentoring program that is carried out routinely once a week on Mondays. The aim of this research is to understand students' comprehension of the value of tolerance, to identify the efforts of PAI teachers in strengthening the value of tolerance, to understand the implementation of the mentoring program in reinforcing the value of tolerance, and to know the supporting and inhibiting factors. This research uses a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach. The data collection methods utilized include observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Furthermore, the analysis techniques performed are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the research results, it shows that 1) The understanding of 7th-grade students regarding the values of tolerance is quite good, but its application still requires guidance; 2) The Islamic Education (PAI) teacher plays a very active role through exemplary behavior, personal approaches, and contextual learning in strengthening tolerance values; 3) The mentoring program serves as the main effective medium for the internalization of tolerance values through discussions, reflections, and emotional guidance; 4) Supporting factors include the commitment of teachers and school principals, supporting facilities, and a humanistic approach, while the inhibiting factors include the emotional instability of students, a lack of support from family environments, and limited time for mentoring implementation, the lack of support from the family environment, and the limited time for mentoring implementation

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limited studies on online gambling exposure among high school graduates entering college, despite its significant impact on adolescent behavior and mental health in Indonesia. The study aims to measure exposure levels and examine the effects of two risk factorsgambling advertising on social media and peer association and two protective factors preventive school policies and personal religiosity among new students at Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) in Greater Jakarta. Using a quantitative approach, the study involved 584 first-year students selected through simple random sampling from four PTMs: UMJ, UHAMKA, UMT, and UMBARA. Data were collected via an online questionnaire employing the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI) and researcher-developed Likert scales, then analyzed using binary logistic regression. Results revealed that 18.8% of respondents had varying levels of exposure to online gambling. Logistic regression showed significant influences: gambling advertising (OR = 9.14) and peer association (OR = 7.00) increased risk, while preventive school policies (OR = 0.52) and high religiosity (OR = 0.36) reduced risk. Interaction effects between risk and protective factors were not significant, indicating that each factor operated consistently across respondent categories. These findings align with Problem Behavior Theory and highlight the protective roles of religiosity and school policies. The study concludes that online gambling exposure is shaped strongly by digital and social environments, whereas religious values and institutional policies act as safeguards. The implications include theoretical contributions to PGSI adaptation in Indonesia and practical recommendations for policymakers and educators to strengthen preventive interventions, enforce policies, and promote religious values
