Abstract

This study aims to find out the students’ perceptions of the Canva application in the Paragraph Writing class and the students’ perceptions when working on projects in the Paragraph Writing class. The research was conducted in the English Education Department at Majapahit Islamic University. This study seeks the students’ perceptions of using the Canva application in the learning process and their experiences in project-based learning tasks. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The researcher used Focus Group Discussions (FGD) as the data collection technique. Focus Group Discussion conducted by researchers with a group of people over time. This group of people was not interviewed separately, but together in the form of a forum. In this research, two findings was found out students’ perceptions in the Paragraph Writing class and students’ projects in the Paragraph Writing class. First, all students gave positive perceptions regarding their understanding of the learning in the class using the Canva application as the media. Students also stated they benefitted from the advantages of using the Canva application in learning. Second, the Canva application helped students complete their projects, although challenges and obstacles arose when students directly applied Canva as an assisting medium. In conclusion, the learner’s perception of the Canva application in the Paragraph Writing class was positive because Canva helps students understand the learning material better. The project also had positive results because it was easier for students to complete the project of creating a digital fiction book. Through this research, the researcher hopes that in future research the results of this study could be used in compiling further research designs that are relevant and more varied

Abstract

This research to find out the correlation between students’ comprehension of reading and their vocabulary mastery. This study uses correlational research. The population of this study were second-grade students of SMA Islam Brawijaya in the academic year 2023/2024. The sample consisted of 30 students. The main problem in this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between students' vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension skills in learning English. The techniques used to obtain data are: first, collecting data from students' vocabulary tests and reading comprehension tests; second, calculating and classifying students' vocabulary mastery tests and students' reading comprehension; third, analyzing students' vocabulary scores and students' reading comprehension; finally, drawing conclusions based on the data. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant correlation between students' vocabulary mastery and their ability to understand a reading. This is proven because the average vocabulary mastery of students is 76.66, In the vocabulary table, the level of vocabulary mastery scores of students get a good score. Meanwhile, the score of students' reading comprehension is 84.66, In the table of scores of students' reading comprehension levels, students get a good score.

Abstract

This research aims to explore student perceptions on the Quizizz application for learning grammar in the English Club at UNIM. This experimental study employs an in-depth interview design using a qualitative approach, with a population of 2 students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using interviews and documentation. The results of the study indicate that: In the experimental testing using the Quizizz Teaching media, student learning outcomes in grammar showed positive responses after applying the Quizizz Teaching media. Students who achieved the highest ranks responded positively to the Quizizz application. Based on the analysis using pre-tests and post-tests, there was an increase in student interest in learning grammar. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that the use of the Quizizz application positively affects the learning outcomes of students in the English Club at the Islamic University of Majapahit.

Abstract

This study examined the perceptions of teachers and students regarding the use of posters as a teaching tool at Islamic Center Senior High School. This research aimed to know teachers and students perception on poster use in teaching public speaking. This research respondents was the second grade class of Islamic Center Senior High School. This study instrument used interview for gathering data. This research used qualitative analysis with descriptive qualitative approach, the findings reveal that posters are positively viewed by both teachers and students deep perception, as they enhance effectiveness and retention. This study underscored the significance of how effective responsive visual aids in improving public speaking skills. This research addressed the challenges of teaching and learning English public speaking in an EFL context, focusing on students' fear, discomfort, and pronunciation issues, and proposed using digital posters as a tool to improve their public speaking skills and instill important values.

Abstract

Despite the importance of writing skills in education and professional settings, a significant gap exists in effective teaching methods that engage EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners. This study explores the integration of films as a tool to enhance descriptive writing skills among EFL students. The research employs a descriptive qualitative design, analyzing data from classroom observations and interviews. Findings reveal that films provide visual, sensory, and emotional stimuli, which help students improve their writing by making descriptions more vivid and contextually coherent. The study's implications suggest that using films can bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and the modern demands of writing proficiency.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis minat belajar siswa Generasi Alpha terhadap mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di SMPN 1 Puri. Generasi Alpha, yang lahir di era digital, memiliki karakteristik unik yang mempengaruhi cara mereka belajar dan merespon pelajaran di kelas. Faktor internal seperti motivasi dan minat, serta faktor eksternal seperti sarana dan prasarana, metode pengajaran, dan dukungan keluarga memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk minat belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi untuk menggali lebih dalam faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat belajar siswa terhadap PAI. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran, kreativitas guru dalam menyampaikan materi, serta relevansi materi dengan kehidupan sehari-hari merupakan faktor penting yang dapat meningkatkan minat belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan metode pembelajaran PAI yang lebih interaktif dan relevan dengan kebutuhan Generasi Alpha, sehingga dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif dan prestasi belajar siswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the Values of Islamic Religious Education in the Tradition of Wages of the Village Community of Kampung Pajak, North Labuhanbatu Regency which is still often carried out by the people of Kampung Pajak. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a phenomenological research approach, where researchers collect data with data collection techniques through interviews, observations and documentation. The results of this study show that the process of implementing the wage tradition carried out by the people of Kampung Pajak Village is by first preparing dishes that will be paid, such as white rice with boiled eggs or white rice with chicken, fish, goats and buffalo and then arranged on plates, tampas or halls. The wages dish is adjusted to what causes a person in wages and the ability of the party who pays the wages. After that, the family gives words of advice to the person who is paid in turn, the first person to convey the words of wages is the father and mother of the person who is paid, then followed by the rest of the family. The tradition of these wages is very good to be implemented because there are Islamic Religious Education values such as the value of faith and morals. The value of faith education contained in the tradition of wages can be seen from the community's belief and compassion towards Allah with the expression of gratitude contained in the advice conveyed, they are grateful for the blessings that Allah gives them, so they carry out the tradition of wages as a form of their gratitude. In addition, there are also worship values such as inviting goodness when conveying the words of wages by the person who pays them. The moral value is also found in the tradition of wages, the value of moral education contained in the tradition of these wages is very good, such as morality to Allah is proven by supplications and requests through prayers, besides that there is a moral value when the community connects the relationship relationship, they gather, meet and strengthen the relationship relationship, this is clearly seen when the tradition of wages takes place.

Abstract

SMPN 3 Grogol, known as Simpatig Budaya, is a school rich in cultural diversity and committed to preserving local cultural heritage, including wayang art. This research focuses on the suluk "Sigra Bala Kang Tumingal," one of Sinom's macapat songs used in wayang performances to add depth to the story and depict the spirit and courage of the troops. This suluk functions as entertainment and a medium for conveying moral values and philosophy of life. By integrating these suluk values into the character of education at SMPN 3 Grogol, it is hoped that it can form students who have integrity, responsibility and an attitude of respect for differences, as well as empowering them as active cultural actors in preserving the nation's cultural heritage.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the Moral Education Materials in the Book of Tanbih Al - Ghafilin by Shaykh Abu Laits As-Samarqandi which can give rise to Moral Education Values that are useful for bullying prevention. This study uses a qualitative research method (library research) with the content analysis method, the researcher collects data with data collection techniques through reading literature that supports research and documentation. The results of this study show that there are moral education values that can prevent bullying in moral education materials in the Book of Tanbih Al - Ghafilin by Shaykh Abu Laits As-Samarqandi according to its nature, namely about moral mahmudah, namely: Morality towards Allah SWT, namely repentance, khauf, sincerity, tawakkal and tafakkur. Morals towards oneself are heroism, gratitude, haya', patience, prohibition of laughing out loud, prohibition of lying, restraint of emotions, maintenance of speech, virtue of gaining knowledge. Morals towards the family are friendship and amar ma'ruf nahi munkar. Morals towards the community are soft-hearted (generous), mercy and compassion, charity with knowledge. And about the morals of madzmumah include: arrogant, ujub, ghibah, namimah, hasad, tyranny, greedy and delusional

Abstract

This research is motivated by the Tahfizul Quran extracurricular activities, which aim to build the character of responsibility among students at Pondok Pesantren Daarul Istiqlal Medan, Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. It provides descriptive data in the form of transcripts, interviews, field notes, personal documents, memos, and other documents. The data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques involve data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The research results reveal that the character-building of responsibility among students through the Tahfizul Quran extracurricular activities at Pondok Pesantren Modern Daarul Istiqlal has been carried out by the supervising teachers. The students' sense of responsibility is instilled through the Tahfizul Quran extracurricular activities. The programs implemented aim to foster students' responsibility through these activities. However, the challenges faced by the supervising teachers in achieving the targets include the frequent holidays experienced by students, which can cause them to forget their memorization.
