Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the management of scouting activities regarding the discipline of Madrasah Aliyah An-Nur Susupu s students. In the context of Madrasah Aliyah An-Nur Susupu, Scout activities play an important role in forming student discipline. Good integration between Scout activities and the school environment creates an atmosphere that supports character learning. Students who are actively involved in Scouting show a high level of discipline, obey rules and regulations, and are responsible for their duties. Internal factors, such as intrinsic motivation, and external factors, such as guidance from Scout leaders, influence students' disciplinary attitudes. Social Learning Theory by Albert Bandura supports the concept that students learn from example and observation, where the disciplined behavior of fellow students and Scout leaders is an important example. Sanctions and rewards, as part of the Behaviorism Theory approach, also influence students' behavior towards rules. With the support of a positive school environment, Scouting not only provides practical experience, but also shapes students' character, creating disciplined, responsible and independent individuals.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to find out the strategy of Arabic language learning in early childhood and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in Arabic language learning in Early Childhood Arabic language learning in early childhood in Indonesia has great potential but also faces complex challenges. This research aims to explore, analyze, and formulate Arabic learning strategies that are effective, sensitive to the socio-cultural context, and responsive to technological developments. The educational ethnography study was conducted at RA An-Nisa DWP IAIN Ternate, North Maluku, involving 20 children aged 4-6 years and 3 PAUD teachers. Data collection methods included participatory observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The findings show that the use of sound system technology is very effective in improving the mastery of Arabic phonetics and vocabulary, accommodating children's musical intelligence. However, the limited number of teachers who are competent in Arabic is a significant obstacle, resulting in pronunciation errors and negative attitudes of children. This study confirms that in early foreign language education, technology can be a strong enabler, but cannot replace the role of competent teachers. The findings highlight the urgency of bridging the gap between ECE expertise and Arabic language competence in teacher professional development.

This study aims to identify problems or issues faced in learning the Arabic language in second-semester students of PBA 2 class IAIN Ternate, as well as propose solutions to overcome these problems. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document studies related to the Arabic language learning process in the class. The results show several main problems: lack of student interest and motivation, diverse ability backgrounds, monotonous teaching methods, lack of Arabic language practice, and limited learning time. To overcome these problems, the proposed solutions include increasing student motivation, equalizing basic abilities, applying interactive and varied learning methods, creating an Arabic-speaking environment on campus, optimizing learning time, and improving the quality and competence of lecturers. Abstract

Debate competitions are integral to university life, fostering critical thinking and public speaking skills among students. However, they also present significant psychological challenges, notably speaking anxiety, which can hinder performance and personal growth. This qualitative study investigates the experiences of speaking anxiety among student debaters at Universitas Pasifik Morotai, focusing on triggers, manifestations, coping strategies, and the evolution of anxiety over time. Ten students of Univrsitas Pasifik Morotai who have previously taken part in National University Debating Championship (NUDC) and Kompetisi Debat Mahasiswa Indonesia (KDMI) were selected to participate in semi-structured interviews, and their responses were illustrated through thematic analysis. The findings revealed that anxiety triggers such as fear of forgetting arguments, pressure to perform, and the competitive environment were amongst the factors contributing to the students’ anxiety. Physical symptoms (e.g., rapid heartbeat), emotional distress (e.g., fear), and cognitive challenges (e.g., difficulty concentrating) were common manifestations that they experienced. Students’ anxiety coping strategies include thorough preparation, social support, and gradual exposure, leading to increased confidence and improved coping over time. These findings contribute nuanced insights into managing speaking anxiety in competitive academic settings, informing support mechanisms and educational practices.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the teaching skills of teachers in implementing the independent learning curriculum and the readiness of the Leading Elementary School 1, Morotai Island Regency in implementing the independent learning curriculum. Researchers use a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. The primary data sources in this research are the Teachers of Primary School 1, Morotai Island district, namely the Principal, Deputy Principal for Curriculum, Deputy Principal for Infrastructure. Data collection techniques include interviews and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that: 1) Teaching Skills of Teachers at SDN Unggulan 1 Pulau Morotai places more emphasis on learning that is designed according to the method, namely step by step, meaning that after students have mastered the material, they continue with practice so that students quickly understand the material presented. At the end of learning, teachers always carry out evaluations through remedial activities as a follow-up after completion. 2) School readiness in implementing the independent learning curriculum is more about the teacher's understanding of the independent curriculum, namely not everything is understood. However, teachers play a very important role in implementing the independent learning policy in schools. Meanwhile, the obstacle experienced by schools is the availability of supporting books. Given the obstacles, the school carries out periodic evaluations according to the conditions that occur as a follow-up to the implementation of the independent curriculum. So it can be concluded that the school is ready to implement the independent learning program.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of English camps in facilitating learning without the pressure to ask questions and in delivering instructional material, as well as their potential to enhance students’ speaking skills. The study employed a qualitative research approach, involving 45 students enrolled in the English education program at Universitas Pasifik. The findings indicate that English camps significantly contribute to improving pronunciation skills and create a conducive environment for enhancing overall English proficiency. These camps leverage interactive activities such as games, discussions, presentations, and speaking practices, which collectively foster a supportive atmosphere conducive to language learning and skill development. The implications suggest that English camps hold promise as a supplementary educational tool for enhancing students’ language competencies, particularly in speaking.
