Abstract

This study aims to enhance the understanding of the community and the Baitul Mal administrators regarding zakat management in accordance with Law No. 23/2011 in Lhokseumawe City. The primary objective of this community service is to ensure effective zakat management practices that comply with Islamic law, thereby making a tangible contribution to poverty alleviation and the improvement of community welfare. The methodology of this study comprises several stages: 1) preparation, which includes initial coordination with Baitul Mal administrators and local government, and the development of research instruments; 2) implementation, which involves in-depth interviews and participatory observation of the zakat collection and distribution process; 3) data analysis using thematic analysis techniques; 4) comprehensive reporting delivered to relevant stakeholders; and 5) socialization through seminars, workshops, and training sessions. The results indicate a significant increase in the understanding of both the community and the Baitul Mal administrators about zakat management in accordance with Law No. 23/2011 following the socialization activities. The main challenges identified include a crisis of trust towards the government, lack of knowledge about zakat regulations, and difficulties in equitable distribution. The recommendations proposed include enhancing transparency and accountability in zakat management, improving training and education for Baitul Mal administrators and the community, and strengthening coordination between the government, Baitul Mal, and the community.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of the role of teachers at the Ummi Gampong Aree Study Center, Delima District, in the spiritual development of adolescents and to identify the challenges they face. The research adopts a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that teachers employ various teaching methods such as lectures, Q&A sessions, practice, and disciplinary actions to shape the personality and spirituality of the adolescents. The teaching materials include the sciences of Tawhid, Fiqh, Tasawuf, Qur'anic Tajweed, and Tafsir. Teachers at the Ummi Study Center use a variety of methods in spiritual development, including lectures, Q&A sessions, practice (memorizing and practicing prayers and recitations of Salat), as well as personal and classical approaches (addressing individual learning difficulties personally and teaching groups classically). The challenges faced in spiritual development at the Ummi Study Center include inadequate facilities, the influence of technology, lack of parental attention and supervision, and negative external influences. To overcome these challenges, solutions implemented include strengthening collaboration with parents, improving facilities and infrastructure, and increasing learning motivation. This study recommends continuously enhancing the quality of spiritual education through various innovations and collaborations among the study center, parents, and the community.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of implementing the Make a Match cooperative learning model in enhancing the learning outcomes related to the topic of virtuous character in the subject of Akidah Akhlak (Faith and Morality) among 21 students in the 11th grade of Serambi Mekkah Islamic High School. The research subjects consisted of a total of 21 students from the school. The data analysis was conducted using the classical mastery approach. In the first cycle of the instructional intervention, which involved group-based learning, the level of classical mastery was observed to be 52.38%, with 11 out of 21 students achieving a satisfactory level of mastery. This outcome can be attributed to the students' hesitancy to ask questions, as evidenced by their behavior during the completion of the provided worksheets. Furthermore, the interaction among the students within the groups was primarily dominated by the more academically proficient students. Additionally, students exhibited a certain level of shyness when it came to presenting in front of the class, as indicated by their unpreparedness during group presentations. In the second cycle, a notable improvement in the level of classical mastery was observed, reaching 85.71%, with 18 out of 21 students demonstrating a satisfactory level of mastery. This improvement can be attributed to the enhanced student engagement and the commendable performance of both the students and the teachers during the implementation of the learning activities. In conclusion, this study provides empirical evidence that the implementation of the Make a Match cooperative learning model effectively enhances the learning outcomes pertaining to the subtopic of virtuous character among 11th-grade students at Serambi Mekkah Islamic High School.

Abstract

This research aims to implement Sufism values as an effort to prevent drug abuse within the community, particularly in the city of Lhokseumawe, by involving teachers from Islamic boarding schools. The methods used include identifying Islamic boarding schools, developing outreach materials, conducting interactive outreach sessions, and evaluating through interviews and observations. The results indicate that the outreach materials focusing on the understanding of Sufism, its core values, and their application in preventing drug abuse were well received by the religious teachers (Teungku Bale). Recommendations from this research include the need for continued outreach activities, enhancing teachers' skills, and deepening the outreach materials by involving religious figures and local communities. It is hoped that this research can serve as a model in combating drug abuse through a holistic approach based on spiritual values.

Abstract

Learning success is influenced by many factors. Generally, everything relies on the teacher's competency factor. It is natural that teacher professionalism is now highly demanded in order to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. One of the teacher competencies required in his profession is to prepare to learn well and mature. most teachers enter the class without careful preparation. Even if there is a Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), it is not homemade but photocopying from another teacher/person or from the internet. The main capital of the teacher enters the class using textbooks or worksheets written by others. This requires training for teachers in the preparation of teaching materials. The purpose of this study was to develop literacy-based folklore teaching materials (reviewed based on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills) for class VII students of MTsN 1 in Lhokseumawe City. The results of the study stated that the validity of the developed learning devices included in the valid category with an average value of RPP validity of 4.03, teaching material 4.12, LKS of 4.42, and items was in the valid category. Learning tools developed through literacy folklore materials based on Aceh have met the effective criteria. Effective criteria viewed from: (1) student learning completeness classically has reached 87% in trial II; (2) achievement of learning objectives of at least 75%; (3) achievement of learning time is at least the same as ordinary learning. Increasing student literacy using Aceh folklore teaching materials on the material is the average student achievement in the first trial of 69 increased to 87 in the second trial, on average each student indicator increased from the trial I to trial II. Students have met the completeness criteria in a classical manner. This is due to the material and problems that exist in teaching materials and worksheets developed according to the conditions of the student's learning environment and referring to literacy. By applying literacy, students will be actively involved in the process of completing Indonesian language material. Theoretically, the learning time used during learning using literacy has met the effectiveness criteria. By using teaching materials, students are first given questions in writing, so that from these problems students can think, observe, make guesses, explain, and analyze to knowledge with the guidance of the teacher.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to provide soft skills training in improving the ability to communicate effectively to prospective tertiary graduates. This is motivated by the lack of student communication skills, especially effective speaking communication. This mixed method research was carried out by describing the dominant qualitative data and then the data was complemented by quantitative data obtained from the survey. Qualitative data collection techniques were carried out by means of participant observation, interviews, document studies. The results showed that the main target of the training were students of the Faculty of Sharia and Tarbiyah IAIN Takengon as training participants totaling 40 people. Regarding the soft kill training method, it is carried out in 4 steps, namely: 1) prologue of training activities, 2) learning, 3) discussion and question and answer, 4) evaluation of activity results. The training process was carried out in 10 meetings, with 2 different sessions, namely listening and speaking communication skills improvement sessions. The results of the evaluation of the communication skills training activities showed that there was a significant increase in the abilities experienced by the participants. This can be seen from the data, that there was a very good increase of up to 90% of the total participants in listening communication skills. As for speaking communication skills, it was also seen that there was an increase from all participants reaching more than 50% of the total participants experiencing very good progress in improving speaking communication skills. Speaking communication skills are a bit difficult to improve. This is influenced by several factors, including aspects of courage and self-confidence of the participants that still need to be improved. Courage and low self-confidence make them shy in conveying the ideas they have in mind.

Abstract

This paper mentoring activity aims to provide understanding to participants to understand the meaning of scientific papers. This activity also aims to train participants in writing scientific papers. This qualitative research uses a case study design of scientific writing assistance. The focus is on providing guidance and support to IAIDU Asahan lecturers. The instruments used are lectures, discussions and training. Writing scientific papers requires a systematic approach starting from planning, writing objectives, to handling obstacles that may arise. This process involves awareness of writing habits, development of planning and focus skills, and the ability to overcome internal and external obstacles. By identifying and understanding barriers, writers can achieve higher quality scientific work and make a positive contribution to the academic world.

Abstract

In the new normal period, the face-to-face learning process in schools is not optimal because of the limitation of learning time by changing shifts to avoid crowds. This makes students not fully understand the material presented by the teacher. The purpose of this activity is to improve children's literacy in the new normal period in Settlement Unit 1 (SP 1) Transmigration in Sungai Besar Village, Matan Hilir Selatan District, Ketapang Regency through the establishment of reading houses as a place to assist children's learning after school. This community service activity is carried out by using the observation method and socializing the establishment of reading houses in partnership with PKH (Hope Family Program) companions and the Ketapang District Public Library as suppliers of books or reading materials in the established reading houses. Observation activities were carried out to determine the condition of the student learning process in the new normal period. The socialization activity was carried out to explain the establishment, management and programs that will be carried out in reading houses with the stages of mentoring the establishment of reading houses through PKH assistants on duty at SP1 Sungai Besar Village, introduction to peer tutoring, introduction to literacy culture for local communities. SP 1 Sungai Besar Village, and the recruitment of volunteers and people who care about literacy. The result of this activity is the establishment of a reading house by utilizing unused residents' houses. The manager of the reading house is a Ketapang State Polytechnic student who lives in SP 1 Sungai Besar Village and several students in the area.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the steps of implementing basic leadership training activities for Intra-School Student Organizations (OSIS) in State Junior High Schools in Deli Serdang Regency. The research method used is qualitative by prioritizing the process of interaction and in-depth communication between the researcher and the phenomenon under study. Data were collected through observations and interviews with student council advisors, student council administrators, and students. The steps of basic leadership training were designed by considering determining training objectives, planning training materials, group involvement, instilling leadership values and ethics, effective communication training, involving student council leaders as mentoring, and encouraging student council leaders to be positive examples. The results showed that the basic leadership training by the student council had a positive impact in shaping students' characters, including increased self-confidence, creativity, initiative, and responsibility. Positive responses from the school principal, teachers, student council leaders and students indicated the success of the training. Requests for ongoing activities confirmed the desire to continue student leadership development efforts. The recommendation of this study is that coaching and strengthening the role of the student council as an agent of student leadership formation needs to continue to be considered so that the positive characteristics that have been formed can be maintained and improved.

Abstract

Management of student dormitories and prevention of acts of violence in the dormitory environment requires efforts and hard work from the dormitory teachers. This research is to find answers and unravel related materials and the process of implementing the workshop and the impact felt by the dormitory teacherss after the workshop activities. This research is qualitative research with a case study approach. Where researchers are required to obtain data naturally related to the impact experienced by dormitory guardians after workshop activities. So, this research takes no less than three months (from July-October 2022). The data collection technique was carried out by participant observation, interviews with the head of the parenting department, the head of the guidence and consoling department, and the dormitory teachers. To strengthen the data, researchers also conducted a documentation study. All the data obtained was analyzed using the data analysis model proposed by Miles, Huberman, & Saldana, there are: data condensation, data display, and finally drawing conclusions. The results of the study found that the hostel management workshop included: 1) the function of the student dormitory, 2) the skills to identify problems in the student dormitory, 3) planning the activities of the students in implementing the vision/mission of caring for the students, 4) the management of the students, 5) the administration of the student dormitory. While workshops related to the role of dormitory teachers in preventing bullying and intimidation include: 1) persuasive communication patterns for students, 2) planning dormitory activity programs, 3) building coordination and sharing, 4) scheduling muwājahah (face to face) with students/Dyah, 5) conveying advice to strengthen spirituality, 6) enforcing rewards and punishments. The impact of workshop activities for dormitory teachers is an increase in competence in understanding the concept of dormitory management and there are efforts to implement the role of dormitory teachers as parents, brothers, educators, teachers, leaders, managers, administrators, and role models in student dormitories.
