Abstract

People now increasingly understand the importance of school quality for the future of their generation. As a result, schools with certain advantages become the leading choice, while schools that do not stand out are increasingly abandoned. In response to this phenomenon, school administrators, including Islamic educational institutions in various regions, are trying to show their superiority over other schools. The aim is to meet the community's needs, hopes, and desires and become the first choice for users of its services. This research uses a qualitative approach with a multisite case study method at Al-Furqan Primary School (SD Al-Furqan) Jember, utilizing in-depth interview techniques, participant observation, and document study. Data analysis was carried out simultaneously using data reduction techniques, data presentation, and concluding and tested through credibility, transferability, and confirmability. The research results show that SD Al-Furqan uses market segmentation by considering socio-economic phenomena, religious attitudes, affiliation with Islamic organizations, and community educational orientation. The target market set is upper-middle-class Muslims who want a balance between learning the Koran, Islamic religious education, and academic achievement. By offering a comprehensive education program, SD Al-Furqan strives to meet holistic educational needs and attract the interest of people who prioritize quality education.

Abstract

Inclusive education in educational institutions still faces challenges, such as negative societal perceptions, limited teacher competencies, inadequate supporting facilities, and curricula that must be fully adaptive. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with an embedded case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis, and they were validated using source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal three main aspects of the inclusive education model: 1) Student interactions, implementing a uniform curriculum, fostering empathy between regular students and students with special needs, and institutional support from teachers. 2) Infrastructure optimization, including adequate school physical conditions, classroom facilities, special provisions for students with special needs, and other supporting infrastructure. 3) Synergy among schools, parents, and resource centers to ensure collaboration in creating an inclusive learning environment. This study recommends teacher training, improved facilities for children with special needs (ABK), and the development of educational technology to support inclusive learning. Inclusive education is expected to operate more effectively and sustainably with these strategies. The contribution of this research provides an understanding of the application of inclusive education models in basic education through interactions between students supported by a uniform curriculum and teacher assistance, optimization of adaptive school infrastructure for students with special needs, and collaboration between schools, parents, and resource centers to create an inclusive learning environment.

Abstract

Implementing problem-based learning in elementary schools is challenging, as it requires a lack of teacher understanding and training and time and technology constraints. A dense curriculum also limits the effectiveness of PBL. Nevertheless, PBL can improve students' critical, collaborative, and analytical thinking skills. This study used a qualitative descriptive design to explore implementing the Problem-Based Learning model in thematic learning, focusing on its stages, challenges, and success factors. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis, with triangulation to ensure validity. Ethical standards such as obtaining informed consent and maintaining confidentiality were upheld. The results of this study indicate that implementing Problem-Based Learning in Islamic elementary schools, including elementary school, strengthens student competencies through active, collaborative, and problem-based learning. This method enhances students' social skills, teamwork, critical thinking, and independence while motivating them through interactive media. Educators are facilitators, assisting students in organizing information and developing creative solutions. Although challenges such as high costs and longer implementation times pose obstacles, adequate infrastructure support and positive student responses make PBL effective in equipping them with essential life skills for the future. This study's contribution is to illustrate that the application of the Problem-Based Learning model in Islamic elementary schools is effective in improving student competencies through active, collaborative, and problem-oriented learning activities. This study also shows that PBL can improve students' social skills, teamwork, critical thinking, and independence and motivate them with the use of interactive media.

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of visual instructional materials on the learning outcomes of primary school pupils in Christian Religious Studies (CRS) in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. It utilized relevant pictures depicting Bible stories during the instructional process. A quasi-experimental design was employed, featuring one experimental group and one control group. The participants consisted of 119 primary 5 pupils offering CRS, selected from the central area of Ado-Ekiti through a simple random technique. Data were collected using the Christian Religious Studies Achievement Test (CRSAT), and the research hypotheses were analyzed using t-tests and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The findings revealed a significant difference in the post-test scores between the experimental and control groups, indicating the effectiveness of the chalk and talk method supplemented with visual instructional materials. However, the interaction between treatment and gender was found to be statistically insignificant. Based on these findings, it is recommended that primary school teachers in Christian Religious Studies (CRS) adopt this method during the instructional process. The study was conducted within a constrained timeframe due to the school calendar. This study's contribution provides empirical validation of the effectiveness of the "chalk and talk" method supplemented with visual teaching materials in improving students' learning performance in Christian Religious Studies (CRS) subjects at the elementary school level. The findings provide important insights for developing effective teaching strategies in the elementary education curriculum. In addition, this study acknowledges the time constraints due to school schedules and recommends further research conducted over a more extended period or in different contexts to gain a broader understanding.

Abstract

This study explores the lived experiences of migrant early childhood education (ECE) teachers in Canada, emphasizing their contributions to cultural and linguistic diversity as well as the challenges they face in professional integration. With Canada’s diverse population and increasing number of migrant educators, understanding their experiences is essential to support inclusive educational practices. The study investigates how migrant ECE teachers contribute to multiculturalism and multilingualism in classrooms, enhancing children's social, cognitive, and cultural development. Despite these positive impacts, migrant teachers encounter obstacles such as credential recognition, language barriers, and systemic biases, which hinder their professional integration and potential contributions. Utilizing qualitative methodology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine migrant educators representing diverse cultural backgrounds. The findings of this study suggest that systemic barriers hinder the full integration of migrant educators into Canada’s early childhood education (ECE) system despite their significant contributions to cultural and linguistic diversity. Better recognition of their credentials, increased professional support, and more inclusive policies are needed to maximize their potential and reflect their experiences well in Canada’s ECE system. The contribution of this study is to identify and highlight systemic barriers that hinder the full integration of migrant educators into the Early Childhood Education (ECE) system in Canada. The findings call for better credential recognition, increased professional support, and more inclusive policies to maximize the potential of migrant educators and ensure their experiences are well reflected in the Canadian ECE system. This study contributes to proposing changes that can help address these inequities and increase diversity and inclusion in early childhood education in Canada.

Abstract

The low learning motivation among elementary school students remains a major challenge in the learning process. Conventional methods, which are often unengaging, make students quickly bored and passive. Therefore, the development of interactive learning media is needed to effectively and enjoyably enhance student involvement, interest, and enthusiasm. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model to develop interactive learning media. The development process includes needs analysis, learning strategy design, media creation, implementation, and effectiveness evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively to assess the quality and effectiveness of the developed learning product. The implementation of interactive learning media has proven effective in increasing student motivation and engagement. The use of physical components, such as wooden map boards and cultural picture cards, provided a hands-on learning experience that deepened students' understanding. Despite challenges related to teacher adaptation and media accessibility, the benefits of this approach—especially in improving motivation and learning outcomes—are evident. Future research should explore the long-term impact on student knowledge retention and how to adapt the media for diverse cultural contexts. This study significantly contributes to the development of interactive learning media that can enhance student motivation and engagement in elementary education. By integrating physical components that support active learning, this research offers a new, effective approach for teaching cultural diversity. Additionally, it provides insights into the development of more adaptive and applicable media that can be implemented in various cultural contexts and used more widely in classrooms.
