Abstract

The divorce rate in Indonesia shows a significant increase every year, caused by various factors such as economic factors, disharmony, domestic violence, and the influence of social media. This condition indicates a gap between the ideals of Islamic teachings on the family and the prevailing social reality. In response, the Marriage Guidance for Prospective Brides and Grooms (Bimwin) program, initiated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, is designed to strengthen family resilience. However, its implementation remains largely formal and does not optimally address the needs of the digital generation. This study aims to reconstruct a hybrid learning-based marriage guidance model from the perspective of Jasser Auda's maqashid sharia, in order to make it a preventive instrument in reducing the divorce rate. The study employed a library research method with a content analysis approach to relevant literature on the maqashid sharia, learning theory, and Bimwin policies. The study results show that through the six systemic principles of Auda cognition, openness, multidimensionality, interrelatedness, purposefulness, and wholeness, marriage guidance can be developed into an adaptive, contextual, and welfare-oriented program. This approach integrates the main values of maqashid sharia such as hifz al-din, hifz al-nafs, hifz al-‘aql, hifz al-nasl, and hifz al-mal in both online and face-to-face learning curricula. Thus, hybrid learning-based marriage guidance serves not only as an administrative obligation before marriage, but also as an educational and transformative tool for forming a sakinah, mawaddah, warahmah family that is resilient to the dynamics of modern life.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the role of religious leaders in the public policy process at the village level from a siyasah dusturiyah perspective. As the government unit closest to the community, villages have a strong socio-religious character, so that religious leaders often act as informal actors who influence the formulation and implementation of public policy. This study aims to analyze the forms of involvement of religious leaders and assess their compatibility with the principles of siyasah dusturiyah, such as deliberation (syura), justice ('adl), trustworthiness, and benefit (maslahah). The research method used is qualitative with a normative-empirical approach. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation in Payaman Village, Solokuro District, Lamongan Regency. The results of the study show that religious leaders play an active role as providers of moral legitimacy, social mediators, and community opinion leaders in the village public policy process. This involvement tends to strengthen community acceptance of policies and maintain social stability. However, the dominance of religious leaders also has the potential to cause participation inequality if it is not balanced with the principles of inclusiveness and accountability. Normatively, the role of religious leaders in Payaman Village is considered to be in line with the values of siyasah dusturiyah as long as it is oriented towards the common good and does not negate the principles of village democracy.
Artificial Intelligence in Qur'anic Interpretation: A Theological and Ethical Analysis

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence in the modern era has significantly transformed various aspects of human life, including Qur'anic studies and interpretation. Although AI enhances accessibility and efficiency in analyzing religious texts, it raises epistemological, theological, and ethical concerns regarding interpretative authority, validity of meaning, and the potential reduction of the spiritual dimension of the Qur'an. This study aims to examine the position of Artificial Intelligence within the epistemology of Qur'anic interpretation and to analyze its theological and ethical implications in Islamic thought. This research employs a qualitative library-based method using a critical hermeneutic approach analyzed through the framework of tafsīr epistemology and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. The findings indicate that Artificial Intelligence functions as a complementary epistemic instrument capable of expanding linguistic analysis, intertextual mapping, and systematic processing of tafsīr data. However, Artificial Intelligence lacks historical consciousness, moral reflection, and intentionality of meaning, which are fundamental elements in Islamic interpretative epistemology. Therefore, interpretative authority remains within human agency as the interpreter who integrates revelation, rationality, and socio-cultural context. The utilization of Artificial Intelligence in Qur’anic interpretation must align with the principles of ḥifẓ al-dīn and ḥifẓ al-‘aql to preserve the sanctity of religious teachings and intellectual integrity in Islamic scholarship.

Abstract

This study analyzes stakeholder perceptions of the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at PT Bank Jatim Tbk, Batu Branch, within the context of local community empowerment. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation involving internal bank personnel, local government representatives, MSME actors, and beneficiary communities. The findings indicate that CSR is not perceived merely as an assistance program but as a social relationship between a regional financial institution and its community. The social meaning of CSR is shaped by direct experience, repeated interaction, and the relevance of benefits to local needs. Positive perceptions emerge when the program is understood as a development partnership, whereas skepticism arises when activities are viewed as administrative and symbolic. The social legitimacy of the regional bank is determined not by the scale of the program but by relational consistency and institutional proximity to society. The findings also reveal that formal organizational communication has limited influence compared to collective community experience in building trust. Theoretically, the study extends the CSR perspective from an instrumental approach toward a relational approach grounded in stakeholder meaning construction. Practically, the implications highlight the importance of participatory and dialogic approaches in CSR planning so that programs are understood as shared needs rather than external interventions.

Abstract

Abstract

This article examines the transmission of Islamic values within community-based religious practices through majelis taklim as a sustainable space of socio-religious interaction. Grounded in Qur’an Surah al-Naḥl [16]: 125, which articulates the principle of communication based on bi al-ḥikmah wa al-mau‘iẓah al-ḥasanah, this study explores the substantive meaning of the verse by considering its socio-historical context, particularly the circumstances following the Battle of Uhud. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach and applies the hermeneutical framework of the double movement theory. This interpretive model involves two stages: first, comprehensively understanding the textual meaning within its historical setting; second, extracting the universal moral principles embedded in the text and recontextualizing them within contemporary social realities. From the perspective of Islamic thought and moral philosophy, the concept of bi al-ḥikmah wa al-mau‘iẓah al-ḥasanah represents an ethical communication paradigm grounded in religious humanism, rational argumentation, and sensitivity to human dignity. The findings indicate that effective religious message delivery does not merely rely on normative authority but also requires wisdom, empathy, linguistic precision, and persuasive engagement that appeals to both rational and affective dimensions. Therefore, this principle holds significant philosophical relevance as a foundation for ethical Islamic communication that is moderate, contextual, and supportive of an inclusive and civilized social order.

Abstract

This study analyzes the strategies employed by the religious institution Persatuan Islam  in dominating social religious interests in Sumenep, Madura. Puritanism in this study does not present a harsh ideology, but rather a socially friendly one by controlling important social spaces such as markets, education, and family needs. This research is unique because in Madura, which is known for being religious and dominated by two major sects (Nahdhatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah), it can be dominated by puritanism. This type of research is qualitative with a case study approach, in which Persis builds and maintains its dominance over local religious groups in Madura within the local socio-religious system. Primary data was obtained through interviews with Persis administrators and congregants. The results of the study show that puritanical dominance is built through strategies that touch on social aspects. The emphasis on puritanism is carried out by controlling the understanding of religious texts, thereby forming a uniform mindset. At the same time, control of the market, cooperatives, and Islamic boarding schools strengthens the economic and institutional position of the Persis sect, thereby establishing trust, leadership, and spiritual bonds.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of wasathiyah through the exemplary behavior demonstrated by KH. Nasaruddin Umar in welcoming Pope Francis to Indonesia in 2024. The challenge of religious fanaticism in society demands role models who are able to concretely realize moderation. This study applies a qualitative method through a literature review with symbolic interactionism theory to dissect the meaning behind the figure's movements, and uses interactive analysis developed by Miles and Huberman. The findings of this study reveal that KH. Nasaruddin Umar's movements are concrete manifestations of the principles of tasamuh, tawazun, and tawasuth. The uniqueness of this study lies in the role of religious leaders as role models in instilling religious moderation. In conclusion, the higher a person's understanding of religion, the higher their level of tolerance. Academically, it is recommended that the Islamic Religious Education curriculum implement religious moderation as a standard in shaping the character of tolerant and moderate students.

Abstract

This article aims to identify the reason behind the greatest revolution in human history. The revolution has astonished thinkers, both ancient and modern, due to its profound impact and lasting effects. This research used a qualitative, descriptive, and library-based approach to examine what has been written about that revolution, whether from the Qur'an, the Sunnah, or the works of scholars and thinkers. The findings of this research showed that the starting point of that revolution was the soul as the essence of humankind. Tawhīd, as the essence of Islam, has brought them out of the greatest complication of their souls. The Prophet Muhammad had educated them successfully by purifying their souls and practicing the highest moral standards. Through this new formation of soul, character, and behavior, they were transformed to be the best creatures God had ever produced for all humankind.
