Abstract

This study analyzes how punishments and violations are managed as part of character development among students at MTs Darul Hikam Seputih Banyak, Central Lampung. The study responds to recurrent student violations, including truancy, damage to school facilities, low honesty in learning activities, and formalistic participation in religious practices. This research employs a qualitative field approach with descriptive analysis. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that character development is planned through value formulation, mapping of student violations, integration into learning and habituation programs, and the formulation of graduated educative sanctions. Implementation is carried out through teacher exemplarity, religious routines, classroom integration, school regulations, corrective guidance, and parental involvement. Evaluation is conducted through continuous behavioral observation, feedback, rewards, and follow-up meetings. The study concludes that punishments and violations become meaningful instruments of character formation when managed as educative, restorative, and participatory processes rather than as punitive control alone.

Abstract

Reciting the Qur'an is a mandatory activity for students residing at Al-Jam'iyatul Washliyah Orphanage, Brayan Medan. Qur'an recitation has become a daily routine involving the repeated reading of Arabic letters, words, and verses, which may enhance students' ability to recognize and read Arabic texts while reciting the Qur'an. However, the influence of the intensity of Qur'an recitation on Arabic text reading ability still requires empirical evidence. This study aims to describe the intensity of Qur'an recitation and students' Arabic text reading ability, as well as to analyze the influence of the intensity of Qur'an recitation on Arabic text reading ability. This study employed a quantitative method using a simple linear regression approach. The population consisted of 50 students, with a sample of 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and an Arabic text reading test, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using normality, linearity, and simple linear regression tests. The findings revealed that the intensity of Qur'an recitation had a significant influence on students' Arabic text reading ability (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.565, indicating that the intensity of Qur'an recitation contributed 56.5% to students' Arabic text reading ability.

Abstract

This study employed the strategies of Majelis Taklim in developing non-formal Islamic education in Sorong Raya, Eastern Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, documentation, and semi-structured interviews with 12 participants from five Islamic organizations: Koordinator Pengajian Wanita Islam (KPWI) Kota Sorong, Badan Kontak Majelis Taklim (BKMT) Kabupaten Sorong, Majelis Taklim Marstussolihah Malawele, Majelis Taklim Muslimat Sorong, and Majelis Taklim Fatayat Sorong. The data were analysed using an interactive model of qualitative data analysis through simplifying reduction, organizing similar codes categorization, interpretation, and verification. The findings show that Majelis Taklim serves not only as a religious learning forum but also as an agent of social transformation by strengthening Islamic literacy, women’s empowerment, community solidarity, and religious moderation within a multicultural Muslim-minority context. This study contributes to non-formal Islamic education scholarship by highlighting contextual strategies for sustaining Islamic educational values in plural societies and offers practical implications for enhancing religious awareness, social cohesion, and community-based Islamic education.

Abstract

This study investigates Kokoda traditional healing from the perspective of Islamic educational theology by exploring the dialogue amongst tawhid, local culture, and healthcare practices. The research employed a qualitative approach using anthropological and local-studies perspectives. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving 20 respondents. They consisted of four Kokoda traditional leaders, four Muslim religious leaders, two government health workers, two doctors, six patients, and two educated community members in Kokoda Regency. The findings reveal that traditional healing functions not only as medical treatment but also as a medium for transmitting moral education, ecological wisdom, and communal solidarity. Most Muslim leaders support healing practices integrated with Qur’anic recitations and Islamic prayers, while some respondents criticize ritual elements considered incompatible with tawhid. Medical workers acknowledge the cultural significance of traditional medicine but emphasize the need for biomedical supervision for severe illnesses. The study concludes that Kokoda healing traditions represent a contextual model of Islamic educational theology that strengthens cultural resilience, religious moderation, and indigenous healthcare awareness in Southwest Papua.

Abstract

The phenomenon of broken homes can affect the psychological development and learning processes of elementary school students, leading to low motivation to learn, difficulty managing emotions, lack of self-confidence, and obstacles in social interaction. These conditions call for the active role of teachers particularly Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in providing guidance through a psychoeducational approach. This study aims to describe the implementation of psychoeducation by PAI teachers in teaching students from broken homes and to identify the obstacles faced at SD IT An-Nafis Teluk Mengkudu. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that psychoeducation was implemented through interpersonal communication, motivational support, fostering religious practices, emotional support, showing Islamic videos, sharing activities, and collaboration with homeroom teachers and parents. This implementation had a positive impact on students’ emotional development, learning motivation, and social skills. However, its implementation still faces obstacles in the form of students’ unstable emotional states, time constraints, a lack of family support, and teachers’ limited competencies in the field of psychology.

Abstract

This study investigates how Sorong Muhammadiyah University integrates Islamic values, theological reflection, and Papuan local wisdom into teaching, from Muslim and non‑Muslim stakeholder perspectives. A 40‑item Likert questionnaire (n=100: 50 Muslim, 50 non‑Muslim) and semi‑structured interviews with 10 students (5 Muslim, 5 non‑Muslim) and 4 lecturers (2 Muslim, 2 non‑Muslim) were used. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively (means, percentages); qualitative data underwent open coding, categorization, and thematic synthesis. Findings indicate generally positive perceptions of religious and theological integration, while systematic incorporation of Papuan local wisdom and full inclusion of non‑Muslim perspectives received lower, though moderate, ratings. The paper proposes a context‑specific model of integrative religious education for Islamic higher education in Papua and offers recommendations for curriculum design, lecturer professional development, and institutional policy to promote more inclusive, locally rooted, and theologically informed practices.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest number of Umrah pilgrims in the world, requiring Umrah Travel Organizers (PPIU) to implement Law Number 8 of 2019 to ensure the protection and quality of services for pilgrims. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Law Number 8 of 2019 at PT Al Fajr Yogyakarta. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with George C. Edward III's policy implementation theory. Data were obtained through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model with source and technique triangulation. The results show that PT Al Fajr Yogyakarta has implemented the provisions of Law Number 8 of 2019 by fulfilling aspects of legality, service, guidance, worship assistance, and pilgrim protection. This implementation improves service quality and strengthens public trust in the organization of the Umrah pilgrimage. This study demonstrates that compliance with regulations is a critical factor in achieving quality Umrah pilgrimage implementation.
