Abstract

Investor protection is crucial for maintaining stability and trust in Indonesia’s capital market. The Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, OJK) plays a central role in regulating transparency, preventing fraud, and providing dispute resolution mechanisms. Despite a robust regulatory framework, challenges such as weak enforcement, low financial literacy, and regulatory inefficiencies persist. This study employs a qualitative research approach, incorporating legal analysis and a management control framework. Primary data includes expert interviews, while secondary data consists of financial reports, journal articles, and regulatory documents. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as enforcement actions, fraud detection rates, and investor restitution are analyzed to evaluate regulatory effectiveness. Fraud Prevention through POJK No. 43/POJK.04/2020, which grants OJK the authority to impose sanctions but struggles with enforcement effectiveness; and (3) Alternative Dispute Resolution via collaboration with LAPS SJK and the APPK platform, which enhances accessibility but faces challenges in public awareness and efficiency. Despite these measures, issues such as inadequate deterrents for market violations, gaps in technological supervision, and bureaucratic inefficiencies hinder optimal investor protection. To strengthen investor protection, OJK must enhance legal enforcement, expand financial literacy programs, leverage technology for market supervision, and improve inter-agency coordination. The adoption of RegTech solutions, blockchain transparency mechanisms, and stricter legal sanctions can significantly boost regulatory efficiency and investor confidence. Future research should explore international best practices to further refine Indonesia’s financial regulatory landscape.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in the 5.0 era has significantly influenced various aspects of life, including early childhood development. One of the most notable changes is the role of digital parenting, where parents utilize digital tools and platforms to guide and manage their children's upbringing. As children increasingly engage with digital content, understanding the effects of digital parenting on their social behavior becomes critical. This study aims to explore the influence of digital parenting on the social behavior of early childhood in the 5.0 technology era, examining both positive and negative impacts of technology exposure on social interactions and communication skills. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing surveys and in-depth interviews with parents, teachers, and child development experts. Data were collected from parents with children aged 3 to 6 years who are actively engaged with digital devices at home. The study finds that digital parenting has a mixed effect on children's social behavior. On the positive side, it facilitates learning and enhances communication skills, while on the negative side, excessive screen time can lead to social isolation, reduced face-to-face interaction, and impaired social skills. Parents who balance screen time with offline social activities tend to foster better social behavior in their children.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of lexical borrowing from English into the Igala languages and its contribution to enriching vocabulary.  Lexical borrowing is a linguistic phenomenon where one language adopts words from a donor language and incorporates them into the vocabulary of a receptor language. This usually occurs when speakers of one language encounter new concepts, technologies, or cultural elements from another language and import the corresponding words to express these concepts in their language.   The research aim is to investigate how Igala speakers incorporate English words into their daily interactions as borrowed words. The study is a quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis.  A total of 30 respondents who are native speakers of the language from Dekina Local Government were interviewed and examined for their language use through observations. The analysis reveals that Igala speakers predominantly use their language. However, English lexical items that do not have their equivalent in the language were adapted phonologically and morphologically and incorporated into the language to fill lexical gaps.

Abstract

This study explores the role of language in shaping the political identities of public figures through social media platforms. Employing Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the research investigates how political figures use linguistic strategies such as framing, metaphors, and modality to construct and reinforce their political personas. The analysis focuses on political discourse across three major platforms—Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram—examining how each platform's unique features influence the linguistic strategies employed. The study reveals that framing is the dominant strategy used by political figures to position themselves ideologically, while metaphors are frequently employed to evoke strong emotional responses and engage followers. Modality, particularly the use of modal verbs, plays a critical role in asserting authority and managing public expectations. The research also highlights the differences in communication styles across platforms and ideologies, showing how conservative and progressive political figures tailor their language to appeal to specific audiences. This study contributes to the understanding of how political figures use language as a tool for identity construction and public engagement in the digital era.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of urbanization on household food security in suburban areas, focusing on the shift from self-sufficient food production to increased reliance on market-based food systems. Using a qualitative research approach, the study collects data from 40 households through in-depth interviews and focuses on the effects of urban sprawl, economic pressures, and changing food consumption patterns. The findings reveal a significant decline in agricultural practices, a reduction in food diversity, and a growing dependence on external food markets. As a result, households face challenges in maintaining nutritional food security, with processed foods becoming more common. Despite these difficulties, households have adopted various coping mechanisms, including income diversification and urban gardening, to mitigate food insecurity. The study also identifies the importance of community support networks in enhancing food resilience. These findings highlight the need for targeted policies that promote sustainable food systems, strengthen food access, and support urban agriculture to improve food security in suburban contexts.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has positioned telemedicine as a transformative solution to address healthcare disparities, particularly in geographically fragmented regions like Indonesia. Despite its potential, telemedicine adoption in Indonesia faces significant challenges, including regulatory ambiguities, inadequate infrastructure, and concerns over data security and professional accountability. While recent legal frameworks, such as Law No. 17 of 2023 and Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024, aim to address these issues, their implementation remains inconsistent, risking patient safety and trust. This study fills critical gaps in existing literature by integrating the rule of law and health justice frameworks to evaluate Indonesia’s telemedicine regulations—a novel approach absent in prior works. The study addresses two key research questions: (1) How does Indonesia’s current legal framework regulate telemedicine, and what gaps exist in practice? (2) How can telemedicine regulations align with the principles of a legal state (Rechtsstaat) to ensure accountability and equity? Employing a normative juridical methodology, the research combines legislative analysis, conceptual evaluation, and case studies, including the Dr. Damar case (2021), to assess regulatory coherence. Findings reveal significant gaps, including unclear liability standards for misdiagnoses, weak enforcement of data privacy laws, and disparities in rural telemedicine access. The study highlights misalignments with international standards like the GDPR and HIPAA, particularly in AI governance and cross-border data flows. To address these issues, the study recommends: (1) strengthening operational standards by adopting WHO guidelines and mandating AI validation; (2) clarifying liability frameworks to define malpractice accountability; and (3) bridging the digital divide through subsidized internet and device programs.
