Franconesia: The aim of this journal is to promote a principles-based approach to research on French language and literature by encouraging inquiry into the relationship between theoretical and practical studies. The journal welcomes contributions in the following areas of analysis: Didactics of French; Didactics of French literature; French / Francophone literature; French linguistics; French / Francophone culture; Translation Studies; Culture Studies. All articles will be reviewed by experts before accepted for publication. Each author is solely responsible for the content of published articles. The editorial board welcomes high-quality research or review papers focusing on teaching, researching, training and applied work in the field of French studies.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to gain comprehension of suffering in the short stories Le Vagabond by Guy de Maupassant and its relation to French Language Education. Suffering in this study refers to Stettbacher's theory which states that suffering is based on four characteristics of suffering. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method with a semiotic-structural approach. The results of this study indicate that there are citations in the short story of Le Vagabond that reflect the characteristics of suffering. The datas in this study are citations of words, phrases, sentences, with meanings and contexts, specifically found as many as citations containing the characteristics of la tristesse (sadness), the characteristics of la difficulté dans la vie (difficulty in life), the characteristics of l'anxiété (anxiety) and the characteristics of le désespoir (desperation).

Abstract

This research aims to develop android-based learning media in French reading skills for class 10th grade in high school. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D), and used ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely analysis, development, implementation, and evaluation, but in this study it is only limited to the third stage, namely the development stage. The learning media was developed based on reading skill material of 10th grade and produces an android application that can be access via smartphone. This media named “Languese” which consists of menu of objectives and KD, instructions for use, vidéo, leçon, quiz, profile and référence. This learning media has been validated by media and material experts by getting a score of 93.75% and in categorized very feasible criteria to be applied to learning with remark that it is suitable for trial after revision and can be used as an alternative learning media that can be acces anywhere and anytime for students

Abstract

This research aims to gain an understanding regarding the extreme courage of the main character, Kirikou, in the film Kirikou et La Sorciere by Michel Ocelot, utilizing three characteristics of the extreme courage as defined by Souchon, Gardette, and Woronoff (2000) and Franco & Zimbardo (2011): Extremism, Resilience, and Understanding of Actions. The research method is content analysis using a qualitative approach, followed by descriptive exposition. The initial phase of analysis from Mayring's (2021) approach, consists of: one (1) creating and formulating research questions, also known as problem statements, two (2) categorizing or separating each category from the analysis of messages, three (3) gathering data and placing it within previously established categories, then classifying it, four (4) revising categories while ensuring reliability or the validity of the formative aspect, checked within each category, five (5) summative checking across all categories and six (6) interpreting results or drawing conclusions from each category. The research findings indicate the presence of twenty (20) data representing characteristics of extreme courage. Specifically, out of these twenty (20) data, nine (9) exemplify the trait of Resilience, seven (7) exemplify Extremism, and four (4) exemplify Understanding of Actions.

Abstract

In the 21st century, technology is getting more sophisticated. Humans get information quickly and directly. Communication can be done directly or indirectly. The language of communication can be either spoken or written. Writing can be recorded as history. Literary works in the form of novels are in great demand by all circles. This study discusses the story in the family secret novel by Okky Madasari. Writer Okky Madasari is very happy when someone examines his novel. The novel tells about family conflicts in the form of short stories. This study describes the types of speech acts contained in the family secret novel by Okky Madasari and OM Institute Alumni. The method used in this research is descriptive method. A method that analyzes data based on the material obtained without reducing or exceeding the data. The form of research used in this study is a qualitative approach and focuses on content analysis. The speech acts contained in the family secret novel are illocutionary speech acts. There are three intents contained in representative illocutionary, namely stating, informing and refusing. The representative illocutionary speech act states as many as 40 direct speeches, the representative illocutionary speech act informs as many as 10 direct speeches and the representative illocutionary speech act rejects as many as 10 direct speeches.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze linguistic politeness in the interview of Gibran Raka Bumingraka at the Golkar press conference, using the principles of politeness by Geoffrey Leech. A qualitative descriptive method was employed with data collection techniques from the interview delivered by Gibran Raka Bumingraka, available on the Tribunenews YouTube channel. The research results indicate adherence to the Maxims of Tact, Generosity, Appreciation, Agreement, Simplicity, and Sympathy, except for one potential incident of violation against the Maxim of Appreciation. This interview reflects efforts to maintain politeness and create friendly communication, contributing to an understanding of language use in the context of political interviews.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the role or function of knowledge as a form of love criteria according to Erich Fromm. This research uses the main theory of Elements of Love which comes from the book The Art of Loving: 4th Edition by Erich Fromm (2021). There are four (4) types of love elements included in the Elements of Love theory, namely Care, Responsibility, Respect and Knowledge. This research uses a content analysis method which consists of six (6) stages, namely (1) Forming and formulating questions, (2) Determining the theoretical background of the research, (3) Data collection, (4) Selecting and determining research methods, (5) ) Data analysis, and (6) Reflecting on research implications and discussions. The analysis technique in this research uses an interactive data analysis model from Miles and Huberman with three (3) stages, namely 1) Data reduction stage 2) Data presentation stage and 3) Conclusion drawing or data verification stage. The research results show 34 (thirty four) quotes that show the form of interpretation of love in the film Amour by Michael Haneke. The element of love that dominates in the film is attention with 12 (twelve) elements in the form of care and sincerity. Then, the second form is responsibility with 14 (fourteen) quotes, respect with 3 (three) quotes and finally knowledge with 5 (five) quotes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe verbal bullying in the Back To School film by Rémy Four and Julien War. The approach used is a qualitative approach by applying the content analysis method followed by the documentation study method as a data collection technique. In this research, the data analysis process follows the approach proposed by Miles et al. (2014), which involves the stages of data condensation or reduction, data display or presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. The research stages, as described by Mahsun (2017), involve pre-research, conducting research, and writing a research report. Pre-research includes determining the research focus, problem formulation, theory, data sources, and research methods. Followed by the collection of research data, which involves words, phrases, and sentences in the film, then analyzed based on Fraisse's theory (2015). The results showed that there were 21 findings of verbal bullying in the movie.

Abstract

The research has three purposes the first is to describe the figure of speech of the French languages and Indonesia langues from Anggun C Sasmi song, and the second is to explain the change in the figure of speech in the Anggun Sasmi song that has two languages versions and the last one of implications for learning French literature. The method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative. The data used are lyrics in Anggun C. Sasmi's songs in both French and Indonesian. The method of data collection are metode simak, and technique (SBLC) Simak Bebas Libat Cakap and metode dokumentasi. To analyze the data, the writer uses the method analyze data qualitative it belongs Miles and Huberman. In this study, validity uses semantic validity and inter-rater rehabilitation. The results of this study Anggun C Sasmi more often uses a figure of speech for comparison. At the time of making the song, Sasmi was very attentive to the beauty of her lyrics. Then the result of the transformation figure of speech for lyrics from Anggun C Sasmi of French languages and Indonesian languages do not have much in common. This research can provide implications in linguistic learning for intermediaries.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the types of prepositions and the meaning functions of prepositions in French children's songs from YouYou’s album which consists of 7 songs and Vive Le Cirque which consists of 6 songs. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection step is that the researcher divides the elements by sentence with the BUL method (Bagi Unsur Langsung). Then analyze based on the types of prepositions. The next step to find out the function of prepositions is to translate the array to be categorized according to its function. The final step is to enter the data obtained into the data classification table. The data analysis method in this research is after classifying the elements included in the preposition after collecting the data. Researchers sort out which elements are included in the preposition using the basic technique of PUP (Pilah Elemen Penentu). The next step is to reread the song array with the advanced technique of bookmark reading technique. Understanding each array that has been translated previously with the contextual translation technique which translates based on the context per array, the next step, after obtaining the meaning of each array, the next step classifies the meaning according to the function of preposition meaning, and continued with the HBS technique.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan dan mendeskripsikan unsur-unsur intrinsik yang terdapat pada cerpen Pispot karya Hamsad Rangkuti, serta memperhatikan nilai-nilai moral yang terdapat pada cerpen sebagai bahan ajar siswa di sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah Cerpen ‘Pispot’ karya Hamsad Rangkuti, dan kemudian akan dianalisis menggunakan teknik baca dan catat. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa cerpen "Pispot" dapat menjadi bahan ajar yang efektif dalam pembelajaran sastra di sekolah, membantu siswa mengembangkan sikap bertanggung jawab, kepekaan sosial, dan hubungan yang lebih baik dengan sesama manusia serta Tuhan.
