Abstract

Education is a teaching and learning process that involves interaction with the surrounding environment. Islamic educational institutions strive to increase students' faith, understanding, appreciation and experience of the Islamic religion, so that they become individuals who believe and are devout in their personal, social, national and state lives. Islamic education has developed since the time of Rasulullah SAW., Khulafaur Rashidin, Bani Umayyah, Bani Abbasiyah, and continues to develop until now. The progress of Islamic education was especially visible during the Abbasid dynasty. This article aims to discuss the concept of Islamic education during the Abbasid Dynasty and the development of modern Islam. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with sources of information from various print and online media regarding this topic. The research results show that Islamic educational institutions during the Abbasid Dynasty can be categorized into three types. First, informal educational institutions such as the ulama's homes. Second, non-formal educational institutions such as kutabs, mosques, bookstores and libraries. Third, formal educational institutions such as madrasas. The many types of educational institutions are in accordance with Islamic teachings which require studying as a form of worship, so that places of study are not limited to just one location.

Abstract

Tafsir Bi Al-Ma'tsur is explaining the meaning of the verses of the Qur'an with verses from the Qur'an or authentic Sunnah verses or the words of the companions of R.A. While the words narrated from the Tabi'in, some people classify them as al-ma'tsur on the grounds that the Tabi'in narrated from friends who studied with them, they also belong to the group of Salaf whose good words and interpretations adorn tafsir books such as the book of Ibn Jarir al- tabary and anyone who follows his method. Tafsir Bi Al-Ma'tsur existed during the time of the Companions, which was carried out by quoting interpretations from Rasulullah SAW, or from the Companions by the Companions, as well as from the Companions by the Tabi'in with a clear method of narration, this method is usually done orally. After that there was a period where the interpreters used the exegesis of the Companions' time which had been recorded and codified. At first this codification was included in the hadith books, but after tafsir became a separate scientific discipline, books were written and published specifically containing the Tafsir of Bi Al-Ma. 'tsur complete with sanad lines to the prophet Muhammad SAW, his companions, tabi'in al tabi'in.

Abstract

This brief but excellent book by the Iraqi scholar al-Zahawi (1863-1936) is published in English for the first time, by Allah’s grace, to give our Muslim brother in the West the necessary historical background on important questions of belief and methodology which are currently under attack from certain quarters of our Community. It is a companion volume to our two books entitled Islamic Doctrine and Beliefs According to Ahl al-Sunna.  In essence, Salafism and Wahhabism are the same, but the latter is identified by its founder while the former takes the name of the Salaf and makes it its own. Yet both Salafism and Wahhabism depart from the belief and practice of the Salaf, as the present book abundantly makes clear.
