Abstract

This research was designed to evaluate the impact of job satisfaction on turnover intention among contract administrative staff at Maranatha Christian University, Bandung. A quantitative approach was employed, involving all 39 contract employees as a sample through census sampling. Data were gathered using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through validity tests (Pearson correlation), reliability, normality, and simple linear regression. The findings reveal that job satisfaction does not significantly influence turnover intention , with a significance value (Sig) of 0.182, exceeding the threshold of 0.05. This result suggests that job insecurity due to contract status plays a more significant role in driving turnover intention than job satisfaction. The study recommends that the university prioritize job stability and career development opportunities to reduce turnover intention among contract employees.

Abstract

The emergence of Generation Z, known as digital natives with a high level of adaptability to technology, flexibility, and active participation, presents both challenges and opportunities in leadership development within student organizations. This study aims to explore leadership approaches that align with the characteristics of Generation Z through a literature review method based on relevant scholarly journals. A qualitative descriptive approach using secondary data was employed to identify trends, gaps, and insights into effective leadership models in the context of student organizations. The literature review findings reveal that transformational and situational leadership styles are the most effective for Generation Z, as they emphasize inspiration, collaboration, empathy, and shared decision-making. Student organizations serve as strategic platforms for leadership practice through direct training in communication, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving. However, most previous studies have focused on corporate settings and have not thoroughly examined the dynamics of student organizations. Therefore, this literature study addresses an important gap by highlighting the need for a participatory, adaptive, and technology-based leadership model that is relevant to Generation Z. The study concludes that higher education institutions and student organizations must formulate contextual leadership strategies that support interpersonal communication and foster a positive organizational culture to maximize the leadership potential of Generation Z in facing future challenges.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, modern organizations are required to continuously enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in order to face increasingly intense competition. In this context, leadership becomes a critical factor that determines an organization’s success in achieving its strategic goals. Effective leadership is not only capable of directing and managing resources, but also of shaping strategy, building a positive organizational culture, and creating a conducive work environment for improved individual and team performance. This study highlights the role of transformational and transactional leadership styles in enhancing employee performance, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Transformational leadership is seen as capable of inspiring and motivating employees to achieve higher performance through a clear vision, empowerment, and concern for individual needs. Conversely, transactional leadership emphasizes a reward and punishment system based on the achievement of predetermined targets. Furthermore, work environment and work motivation are considered as important variables that can strengthen or weaken the influence of leadership styles on performance. Although previous studies have discussed the direct impact of leadership on performance, there remains a gap in understanding the mediating or moderating roles of other factors such as motivation and work environment. Therefore, this study aims to provide a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the relationship between leadership styles, work motivation, work environment, and organizational performance in facing today’s managerial challenges.

Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten employees from various industrial sectors in Bandung. Abstract

The leader has his own unique and distinctive nature, habits, temperament, character and personality so that his behavior and style distinguish him from others. This style or lifestyle will certainly color his behavior and type of leadership. Leadership is an aspirational force, a force of spirit, and a creative moral force, which is able to influence members to change attitudes, so that they are in line with the wishes and aspirations of the leader. In fact, a leader should be a figure who becomes a role model for those he leads. Some types of leadership in general are autocratic, charismatic, laissez-faire, democratic, to make quality improvements. But if every time and in every matter must give orders or directions, it will cause difficulties, because every time to do a good job it must be with the leader's orders, and if there are no orders from the leader, the job will not be done well, then continuous improvement in the quality of performance will be difficult to achieve. A leader motivates followers through a leadership style based on Indonesian local wisdom, namely a character-based leadership style. To achieve this, a leadership management style that integrates 18 character-building values into the leadership style of higher education institutions (PT) is needed, thereby achieving the vision and mission of the higher education institution.
