Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms and functions of teachers’ persuasive language in Indonesian language teaching. The research method employed is qualitative descriptive. The results of the study indicate that the forms of teachers’ persuasive language in Indonesian language teaching include invitations, commands, assertions, questions, suggestions, and advice. The functions of teachers’ persuasive language in Indonesian language teaching include referential, expressive or emotive, appellative or conative, phatic, metalinguistic, and poetic. The use of persuasive language by teachers plays a vital role in creating effective interaction and encouraging active student participation in learning. Abstract

The motivational language used by the creative industry in Makassar. This study aims to describe the types of motivational language in the creative industry and describe the function of motivational language in the creative industry. The research method used in this study is qualitative research that is descriptive. In this study, researchers try to describe the object or subject of belittling systematically and objectively so that facts can be described carefully precisely. The results showed that the type of motivational language is divided into two, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The language of intrinsic motivation contains messages and principles that guide individuals to grow, develop and achieve potential in the creative industries. Extrinsic motivation contains messages that reflect and encourage the specific cultural and social values of the creative industry.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative descriptive study aimed at describing the patterns and functions of speech in the dialogues of the Korean web drama Melmomance, seasons 1, 2 and 3. The data in this study consist of vocabulary, phrases and sentences found in the dialogues of the Korean web drama Melmomance, seasons 1, 2 and 3. The data sources that form the subject of this study are the characters or participants in the dialogue of the Korean web drama Melmomance, seasons 1, 2, and 3. Data collection was carried out using the non-participatory observation technique. The results of this study show that there are eight speech pattern forms in the dialogues of the Korean web drama Melmomance, seasons 1, 2, and 3, namely: Greeting-greeting patterns; Call-response patterns; Information request-information provision patterns; Complaint-acknowledgement patterns; Request-permission patterns; Offer-acceptance patterns; Offer-rejection patterns; and; Question-answer patterns. Furthermore, the functions of these speech patterns in the dialogues of the Korean web drama Melmomance, seasons 1, 2, and 3, comprise five functions: Efficiency; Politeness; Awareness; Openness function, and; Cohesion function

Abstract

This study aims to demonstrate the relationship between the intensity of reading fan fiction short stories and the understanding of figures of speech within the NCTZEN community in Makassar. This is an ex post facto quantitative study. It utilised questionnaire distribution and testing techniques. The results indicate that the intensity of reading fan fiction short stories falls into the moderate category, whilst the level of understanding of figurative language falls into the high category. The data was found to be normally distributed following data transformation, with the p-value exceeding the significance level of 0.05 at 0.200. Furthermore, the linearity test result showed 0.119, which exceeded 0.05, and the product-moment correlation test result showed that the calculated r was greater than the table r, namely 0.697 > 0.266. Engaging in reading activities consistently over a long period of time has a positive impact on readers’ comprehension

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research project aimed at describing the learning process and outcomes of students’ poetry writing skills using the SAVI Learning Model with Year 8 students in Hukmawaty’s class at SMPN 1 Pangkajene. The study was conducted over two cycles, preceded by a pre-cycle phase. The data collection techniques used were: observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. The results of the study indicate that students’ poetry writing test scores in the pre-cycle phase were 24.13%, falling into the ‘poor’ category and failing to meet the Minimum Passing Criteria (KKM). In Cycle I, the results were 82.75% in the ‘good’ category, and in Cycle II, students’ poetry writing scores reached 100% in the ‘very good’ category. Student scores improved by 75.87% from the start of the pre-cycle to the implementation of Cycle II. Based on this, it can be concluded that the application of the SAVI Learning Model can improve students’ poetry writing skills

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impact of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum on the performance of Indonesian language teachers in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Polewali, describe the readiness of Indonesian language teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The focus of this study is the impact and readiness of Indonesian language teachers in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Polewali in the Independent Curriculum. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, and interviews.This study aims to describe the impact of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum (KM) on the performance and readiness of Indonesian language teachers in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Polewali. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, documentation, and interviews. The results of the study showed a positive impact of KM on teacher performance, including flexibility in developing learning, increasing creativity, understanding student needs, developing life skills, student learning motivation, comprehensive evaluation, and empowering teachers as facilitators. Teachers showed readiness in formulating learning objectives that focus on student competencies, compiling a flow of achievement-based learning objectives, designing flexible and contextual teaching modules, and understanding the concept of assessment to support competency-based learning

Abstract

This study, entitled ‘Representations of Meaning and Character Values in Figurative Language within JKT48 Song Lyrics’, is a descriptive qualitative study which aims to (1) describe the representations of meaning and character values in figurative language within JKT48 song lyrics, and (2) describe the representations of character values in figurative language within JKT48 song lyrics. The results of this study indicate that the representations of meaning in the figures of speech within the lyrics of JKT48 songs titled ‘Buah Masa Depan’, ‘Bunga Matahari’, ‘Apakah Kau Melihat Mentari Senja?’, and ‘Matahari Milikku’ include optimism, facing doubt, self-reliance, openness to feelings, mutual support, mutual respect, and loyalty in supporting friends. Furthermore, the character values represented by figures of speech in JKT48 song lyrics include hard work, honesty, independence, social awareness, friendliness/communication, love of peace, tolerance, and responsibility. The figures of speech that contribute to representing the meaning and character values throughout the lyrics of JKT48’s songs are metaphor, personification, depersonification, synecdoche, simile, hyperbole, paradox, hyperbole, interminus contradiction, oxymoron, parallelism, anticlimax, rhetoric, tautology, polysyndeton, and pleonasm
