The Journal of Social Work and Science Education (JSWSE) is firmly established as an authoritative voice in the world of social work and science education with E-ISSN: 2723-6919 and P-ISSN 2746-0827. JSWSE publishes scholarly papers that focus on the social science, teaching and learning, science in school settings ranging from early childhood to university education. It bridges the gap between research and practice, providing information, ideas and opinion. As a truly international journal, JSWSE welcomes contributions from any country provided that the authors explain their local contexts and demonstrate the significance of their work for a global readership. Special emphasis is placed on applicable research relevant to social sciences, educational practice, educational realities in systems, schools, colleges and universities. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of limb explosive power and wrist flexion on the lay-up shoot ability of extracurricular basketball students of SMA Negeri 4 OKU. This research is a type of Ex Post Facto research that uses a path analysis research design. The population is all basketball extracurricular students of SMA Negeri 4 OKU with a sample of 30 students. The sampling technique is a saturated sample or total population. The data analysis techniques used are quantitative descriptive analysis, requirements tests, and path analysis through the SPSS 20.00 program at a significant level of 95% or α 0.05. The results showed that; (1) There is a direct effect of limb explosive power on wrist flexion in extracurricular basketball students of SMA Negeri 4 OKU with a beta value of 0.603 with a significant level of 0.000 < α0.05; (2) There is a direct influence of limb explosive power on the ability to lay-up the shoot in extracurricular basketball students of SMA Negeri 4 OKU with a beta value of 0.380 with a significant level of 0.002<α0.05 (4) There is a direct effect of wrist flexion on the ability to lay-up the shoot in extracurricular basketball students of SMA Negeri 4 OKU with a beta value of 0.337 with a significant level of 0.004 <α0,05; (6) There is no effect of limb explosive power through wrist flexion on lay-up shoot ability in extracurricular basketball students of SMA Negeri 4 OKU with a beta value of 0.203 (0.203 < 0.380).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of the principal's leadership on teachers’ performance in SMA Negeri at Kayuagung District. This research was conducted for five months, from May 2022 to September 2022. The research method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive method. The number of samples in this study was 120, which were taken through the probability sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis was performed using regression analysis with the help of SPSS 22.00 for Windows. Based on the regression test results, the t-count value is 8,469 > the t-table price of 1,657, where the t-count price is greater than the t-table, so Ho1 is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that the principal's leadership significantly influences teacher performance in SMA Negeri at Kayuagung District. This also shows that the principal's leadership has a major role in teacher performance and managing learning in schools. Based on the findings in this study, it is suggested that school principals strive to improve their competence so that the principal's leadership function can be carried out optimally and that it can encourage increased teacher performance in schools.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Active Learning model type Card Sort which aims to determine whether there is an influence on the learning outcomes of Civics class V SDN 91 Palembang. The approach used is quantitative experiment. Research design with quasi-experimental design Pretest-Posttest control group design. From data processing, it was obtained that the average pretest value for the experimental class was 49.40, the control class was 43.00 and the posttest average value for the experimental class was 90.60, the control class was 51.80. Based on the normality test it was stated that the sample came from a normal population. Based on the homogeneity test it was stated that the sample came from a homogeneous population, then based on the hypothesis test it was known that t-count was 14.916, to compared with t-table at a significant level of 0.025 with dk n - 1 = 25-1 = 24, obtained a significant level of 0.025 = 0.594. Thus Ho (null hypothesis) is rejected and Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of test data, it can be concluded that learning outcomes have an effect after being given treatment using the Card Sort Active Learning model in class V SD Negeri 91 Palembang.

Abstract

Numerous airline firms are fighting to raise the standard and reputation of their operations in response to the rising demand for air transportation services. The pre-flight and post-flight stages of an aircraft's operation require assistance from ground handling agents, affecting customer satisfaction with air transportation services. Passenger satisfaction is the expression of enjoyment or satisfied with the assistance received from the staff. This study's goal is to ascertain how much ground handling services offered by airlines during arrivals at General Ahmad Yani Semarang International Airport have an impact on passengers. This quantitative study aims to test the predetermined objectives on travelers from five airlines who employ PT. Kokapura's ground handling services. This study employed observation, questionnaires, and literature reviews as data collection methods. T-tests and the coefficient of determination are used to analyze the data (R2). With a calculated t-value of 21.182 > t-table 1.985, the study's findings demonstrate that the arrival baggage service offered by PT. Kokapura's ground handling significantly effects traveler satisfaction at General Ahmad Yani Semarang International Airport. The remaining 17.9 percent is influenced by other factors, with a correlation coefficient of 0.821 and an 82.1 percent coefficient of determination.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the anxiety factor in doing floor exercise (front roll) for fifth grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 18 Palembang. The focus of this study was to evaluate the student’s anxiety factor in doing the front roll floor gymnastics who still experience a lot of doubts, or excessive anxiety in doing the front roll movement. This study uses the CIPP model which includes three indicators as follows: context, input, process, product. The interviews included fifth grade students at Muhammadiyah Elementary School and two sports teachers. Direct observation of the school and the infrastructure used by these students. This research was the cause of failure due to students’ anxiety in doing the floor gymnastics practice and there were also those who did not want to participate at all. So that it results in a student learning system that is not as expected. The results of context research are 59% input 40% process 40% product 48%.

Abstract

This research is to find out if there is an effect of training short passes and zig-zag run to improve the skills of passing the ball by students of the men’s futsal team at SMP Negeri 52 Palembang. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were students who were included in the men’s futsal team, which consisted of 25 male members, while the object of agility research was the attitude of executing movements short pass and zig-zag run. Data analysis was used for data collection using tests short passes from Arsil, namely the test of kicking the ball from a few minutes to place and target in the fastest time. For the Zig-zag run use the sheet technique observation (checklist). Based on the research results, 7 people got a combined score between record time and target accuracy at intervals of > 124 with a score classification of “very good”. Then there are as many as 16 people getting a combined score at a value interval of 104 - 123 with a “good” score classification. The remaining 2 people get a combined score in the interval 85 - 103 with a “moderate” score classification. Based on the results of the research and discussion it can be concluded that the ability short pass most of them was good, as many as 7 people got scores in the very good category (28%) and as many as 16 people (64%) were included in the good category, and 2 people were included in the medium category (2%). Whereas zig-zag run experienced an increase in agility as indicated by the final result of 79.5% which was classified as good, consisting of 11 students (27.3%) which were categorized as very well, 9 students (50.0%) which were classified as good, 3 students (13.6%) which were categorized as sufficient, and 2 students (9.1%) were categorized as lacking.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the principal's leadership in building the character of students at SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung, the constraints of the principal's leadership in building the character of students at SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung and efforts to overcome obstacles to the leadership of the principal in building character students at SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung. The research methodology used the descriptive qualitative method by using triangulation with data taken from observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the principal's leadership in building the character of students at SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung was carried out in 3 stages including planning to strengthen the character of the students at SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung, implementing strengthening the character of students at SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung and evaluating the implementation of a character-based curriculum for SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung. This study found that the obstacles faced were from internal and external factors, namely the lack of awareness of students, teacher, and parent factors, and solutions that were not optimal in building the character of students.

Abstract

Teachers have a vital role in the educational process. Teacher competence could determine the realization of a quality learning process. This study aimed to describe the principal’s strategy to improve teacher competence. The type of research was descriptive-qualitative research. Data collection tools included documentation, interviews, observation, and literature reviews. Data analysis techniques used descriptive and qualitative analysis techniques. The results of the study stated that the school principal’s strategy to increase teacher competence through needs analysis, preparation of program plans, implementation, and evaluation of the implementation of increasing teacher competence had gone well and had a positive impact on increasing teacher competence. Increased teacher competence through the implementation of the principal’s strategic program has an impact on the quality of learning in SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung. personality aspects are carried out by providing motivation and good examples for teachers to always do the best for students and the progress of the institution.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the public's interest in recreational sports in Empat Lawang Regency. Serapungan tourism sport is one of the unique local recreational and tourism activities in the area. However, the scientific literature that discusses public interest in floating tourism is still limited. Therefore, this study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods to describe the actual situation. Data was collected through document review, such as records of the number of participants taking part in Serapungan tourism sports activities from 2019 to 2023 sourced from the records of the Empat Lawang Regency Tourism Office. This study identified three types of floats in the sport of floats, namely fast floats, ornamental floats, and casual floats. Fast absorption involves participants swimming by floating on two bamboos with the aim of reaching the finish line as soon as possible. Decorative floats involve boats decorated with various shapes and boarded by several people. Relaxing drift involves a sightseeing trip using the inner tube of the car as a boat and following the river flow to the finish point. This research concludes that the local people are interested in sport tourism in Empat Lawang Regency. However, public interest in free sports still needs further research. With a deeper understanding of people's interest in mass sports, this research can provide a basis for local governments, sports institutions and local communities to formulate effective development strategies. In addition, this research also contributes to the understanding of how traditional sports can remain relevant and attractive amidst the developing trends of modern sports.

Abstract

This study was to determine students’ interest in extracurricular activities of public high school basketball in Ilir Barat 1 sub-district. This research is qualitative descriptive research. This study uses a qualitative approach to obtain information about interest in participating in extracurricular basketball in students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang, SMA Negeri 10 Palembang, and SMA Negeri 2 Palembang. This study uses a type of descriptive research, which is research that seeks to describe or explain the survey of extracurricular interest in basketball in students. The research was carried out using an instrument in the form of questionnaires of student interest in extracurricular basketball. The overall data that have been researched related to students’ interest in extracurricular basketball fit into the strong criteria. For the overall percentage at SMA Negeri 1 Palembang which is 75.84%, for the overall percentage at SMA Negeri 10 Palembang which is 63.20%, for the overall percentage at SMA Negeri 2 Palembang which is 69.12%. From the results of the data analysis, it was concluded that the strongest interest in participating in extracurricular basketball was SMA Negeri 1 Palembang, followed by SMA Negeri 2 Palembang, and finally SMA Negeri 10 Palembang. For the total overall results, students’ interest in participating in extracurricular public high school basketball in Ilir Barat 1 sub-district is 69.27% or can be categorized as strong interest.
