Abstract

Assessment in learning should be the process of collecting and processing data to determine student learning outcomes. Learning assessment can be carried out using various techniques, such as exams, assignments, observations, and self-assessments. Minimum Competency Assessment is a basic competency assessment used to measure the development of students' self-capacity and positive participation in society. There are two essential competencies measured in the Minimum Competency Assessment, namely literacy and numeracy. However, in fact, after the Covid 19 pandemic, students' ability to understand texts and numbers has decreased, this is due to changes in learning patterns from face-to-face to online. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to see how the numeracy literacy skills of elementary school students are through the Minimum Competency Assessment activities in the class teaching campus program. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, namely by answering the actual conditions in the field carried out on grade 5 students of SDN Petukangan Selatan 05. The results of this study are that there are two literacy and numeracy programs, namely Fond of Literacy and Bilingual Class and Numeracy in Life and Numeracy Culture. With this program, it can be seen that students' numeracy literacy skills have increased by 23% literacy and 38% numeracy and this literacy and numeracy program helps students understand text and numbers in a broader and more enjoyable form than just knowing writing and numbers.

Abstract

Increasing the effectiveness of the learning process can be realized through the application of learning models that are in line with student characteristics. One approach that supports active student involvement is the Problem Based Learning model. This study aims to analyze the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning model on the achievement of cognitive learning outcomes in mathematics subjects in grade V students at the elementary school level. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental design, specifically the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design type. The research subjects included all grade V students of SD Negeri 02 Amban as many as 32 students in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data analysis techniques involve normality tests, t-tests, and n-gain tests, with the help of SPSS software version 30. The results of the normality test show that the pretest value data (0,123 > 0,05) and posttest (0,105 > 0,05) are normally distributed. Meanwhile, the t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0,001 (p < 0,05), indicating that there was a significant increase in cognitive learning outcomes after the implementation of the PBL model. Based on the significance value (0,001 < 0,05), the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. In addition, the results of the n-gain analysis showed an increase in the average score from 64,44 to 84,09 with a difference of 19,66 points, and the average n-gain value was 0,56, which was categorized as quite effective. Thus, the results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model has a positive effect on improving the cognitive learning outcomes of elementary school students in mathematics.

Abstract

Research on critical and spatial thinking in mathematics in Indonesia has experienced significant development over the past decade. Initially, most studies emphasized the characteristics and indicators of critical thinking, while research on spatial abilities was relatively limited. However, as 21st-century education increasingly demands higher-order thinking skills, including the ability to visualize, interpret, and analyze spatial relationships, interest in spatial thinking research has grown. This study aims to analyze the trends and patterns of research on the critical and spatial thinking profiles in mathematics education in Indonesia using bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer. The data were collected from the Dimensions AI database by searching the keyword “Critical and spatial thinking profile in mathematics in Indonesia.” A total of 291 documents were initially identified, and after filtering by publication year (2015–2025) and relevance, 279 were selected for analysis. The results show a consistent increase in publication and citation activity, especially from 2018 to 2024, with 24 citations recorded in 2025 alone. Network visualization reveals strong linkages between frequently used terms, indicating interconnected research themes across different studies and years. Overlay visualization highlights shifts in research focus over time, while density visualization identifies clusters with the highest publication concentration. These three visualization techniques offer comprehensive insights into the development of this research area. They assist researchers in discovering new themes, identifying gaps in the literature, and uncovering potential directions for future studies, especially in the context of incorporating critical and spatial thinking abilities into effective mathematics instruction across different levels of education.

Abstract

This pre-study explores the reading interest of elementary school students and the potential integration of local wisdom into literacy practices. The background of this study stems from preliminary findings that reveal low reading interest among second-grade students in an elementary school. Most students prefer picture books and show limited engagement with traditional texts, especially when lacking visual appeal. Furthermore, observations and teacher interviews indicate that cultural elements such as local traditions and values—particularly from Madura—are rarely included in classroom reading materials. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through questionnaires, classroom observations, and teacher interviews. The results show that 70% of students read only when instructed, and over 80% express interest in books that include illustrations and culturally familiar content. Teachers acknowledge the need for relevant reading materials that combine engaging storytelling with the richness of local culture. They believe such materials can promote reading habits while strengthening students’ cultural identity. This study highlights a significant gap in culturally responsive reading materials for young learners. It suggests the importance of developing culturally integrated picture storybooks to enhance reading interest. Incorporating local wisdom into early literacy development can not only foster students’ engagement in reading but also preserve cultural heritage. The findings provide a basis for future development of reading materials rooted in local traditions and values.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the findings of students' difficulties in understanding the concept of food chains in the IPAS subject. The fact that the current generation is a digital generation accustomed to technology also supports the importance of innovation in learning. Learning resources that might aid students in comprehending abstract ideas are necessary because many educators continue to employ traditional teaching techniques. This research attempts to examine how well digital diorama media works as an educational innovation that can improve students' comprehension of the food chain concept. This study utilized a quasi-experimental approach using a non-equivalent control group design. In this study, sixty fifth-graders from Karawang Regency's SD Puri Artha participated. Students were split up into two groups: the experimental group used digital diorama material, and the control group used traditional means. Data were obtained through concept understanding tests before and after the intervention, as well as observations and interviews. According to the study's findings, pupils who used digital dioramas to learn had a significantly higher conceptual grasp than those who used traditional methods (p<0.05). Students can more easily comprehend the relationships between organisms in the food chain with the help of digital diorama media, which can offer crisper visuals. Additionally, pupils actively participate in the learning process and exhibit interest in it. The conclusion of this study is that digital diorama media is not only effective in enhancing students' understanding of the food chain concept but also in increasing students' learning motivation.
