Abstract

This study aims to analyze the readiness of farmers in Parakan Village to utilize digital platforms for marketing agricultural products. The methods used include interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), mentoring, and the distribution of questionnaires to 30 members of the Mawar Farmer Group. Findings indicate a shift in farmers' behavior from relying on middlemen to independently marketing their products through social media. However, survey results show low levels of information access, active participation, and understanding of digital innovation. Innovation and digital literacy are key challenges, although some farmers expressed a willingness to learn. Continuous mentoring and collaboration between farmers, academics, and the government are essential to support an inclusive and sustainable digital transformation in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of cattle waste as organic fertilizer to minimize agricultural operational costs in Mrawan Village, Tapen District, Bondowoso Regency. Cattle waste, particularly manure, is an abundant local resource that has not been optimally utilized by the local community. The majority of farmers in the village still rely on chemical fertilizers, which are relatively expensive and have a negative impact on long-term soil health. Therefore, this program is designed to provide a sustainable alternative solution through an educational approach and community empowerment. The methods used in this activity include outreach, technical training, and direct assistance in the process of making organic fertilizer from cow manure. Education focuses on simple fermentation techniques, the composition of natural additives, and appropriate fertilizer application methods. Farmers are actively involved in every stage of the activity, so they become not only beneficiaries but also agents of change in environmentally friendly agricultural practices. The results of the activity indicate that the use of organic fertilizer from cattle waste can reduce the cost of purchasing chemical fertilizers by up to 40% in a single planting season. In addition, organic fertilizer has been shown to increase soil fertility, improve soil structure, and support healthier plant growth. Environmental impacts are also reduced, as livestock waste management is more controlled and does not pollute water or air sources. Therefore, utilizing cattle waste as organic fertilizer not only reduces environmental pollution but also provides an economic and ecological solution that benefits local farmers. This program is expected to become a model for empowerment that can be replicated in other areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Pogalan Village in Pakis District, Central Java, is known as a horticultural agricultural center, with abundant vegetable production every year. However, behind this potential, this village faces a serious problem in the form of large amounts of organic waste generated from harvest residue and agricultural processing. Waste that is not managed properly has the potential to cause environmental pollution, reduce the village's aesthetics, and become a source of disease spread. To address these problems, the Tidar University Community Service Program (KKN-50) Team conducted a socialization activity for Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation as an environmentally friendly and economically valuable organic waste management solution. BSF maggots have been proven to decompose organic waste by up to 60% in a short time and produce useful by-products, such as dried maggots as high-protein animal feed and kasgot (used maggots) that can be used as organic fertilizer. The activity was held on July 31, 2025, at the Pogalan Village Hall, with the main participants being PKK mothers as agents of change at the household and community levels. The implementation method included initial observation of the village's potential and problems, creation of a maggot cultivation prototype, theoretical material outreach, and live demonstrations of the cultivation process. The material provided covered the BSF life cycle, cultivation techniques, selection of growing media, maggot population management, and utilization of cultivation products. The results of the activity showed high enthusiasm from participants, as reflected in the many questions and discussions during the training session, as well as their increased understanding of the benefits and techniques of maggot cultivation.

Abstract

Schools are not only institutions for the transfer of knowledge but also environments that play a crucial role in shaping students’ behavior and instilling positive habits, one of which is environmental care. One form of environmental concern that can be cultivated from an early age is the discipline of disposing of waste properly. However, SD Negeri Jambewangi, located in Dusun Pesantren, has not yet fully implemented effective waste sorting practices. Waste disposal is still carried out without distinguishing between organic and inorganic waste, which may have negative impacts on the school environment. To address this issue, community service activities were carried out by KKN students from Universitas Tidar through outreach programs and the distribution of sorted waste bins. The socialization activity applied the Extend Parallel Process Model (EPPM) communication strategy using a Severity Model approach, which emphasized the dangers and consequences of improper waste management practices. During the sessions, students were encouraged to discuss and identify various types of waste, as well as the potential environmental and health impacts associated with them. Direct practice was also provided by encouraging students to actively participate in sorting waste before disposal into the designated bins. The implementation of this program showed a positive impact, as students demonstrated an increased understanding of waste management and began to practice sorting waste more consistently. The provision of separate bins for organic and inorganic waste further facilitated this new habit. It is expected that the discipline of sorting and properly disposing of waste will continue to be applied by students, teachers, and the entire school community. Such continuous practices can foster collective awareness, contribute to maintaining environmental cleanliness, and provide long-term benefits not only for the school but also for the surrounding community.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented to address the needs of farmers in Kalicaah Village, Tanjung Jaya Village, Panimbang District, for an affordable, simple, and user-friendly fertilizing tool. Traditionally, the application of solid fertilizer has been done manually, which not only leads to inefficiency but also significantly increases the physical workload of farmers. To overcome this issue, the program team designed a solid fertilizer spreader using appropriate technology, constructed from recycled materials such as PVC pipes and used water gallons. This innovation was aimed at creating a sustainable, low-cost solution for the local agricultural community. The program’s implementation involved several key activities, including identifying the farmers' challenges, conducting assembly training sessions, demonstrating the tool’s use, and running direct field trials in local farms. The results showed that the use of the newly developed fertilizer spreader led to a 45% reduction in the time spent applying fertilizer, which directly contributed to more efficient farming practices. Additionally, there was a significant reduction in physical complaints, particularly lower back pain, which had been a common issue due to the manual labor involved in fertilizing. The tool proved to be easy to construct, requiring minimal technical knowledge, and the farmers were able to adopt the technology independently. The high rate of adoption among farmers further emphasizes the tool’s potential for widespread use. The success of this program also suggests that this simple, affordable technology could be replicated in other agricultural regions, benefiting more communities by improving work efficiency, reducing physical strain, and fostering a sustainable approach to farming practices.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of improving the memory of students at the Baiturrahman Islamic Boarding School (TPQ) through the implementation of group guidance based on an interactive question and answer method. The background of this program is based on the problem of low retention of religious material that has been learned by students, so the learning approach is needed that does not only emphasize memorization, but also activates the process of critical and in-depth thinking. In its implementation, the activity is designed to involve students directly in group discussions guided by a facilitator. The questions posed are structured in such a way as to stimulate repetition of information, encourage logical reasoning, and help students connect the learning material with real experiences in everyday life. Through this process, students are not only asked to answer questions but are also trained to develop broader answers, thereby strengthening understanding and improving communication skills. This program also prioritizes a fun, collaborative, and participatory learning atmosphere so that students feel more motivated to actively participate. Evaluation results show a significant increase in students' ability to remember, understand, and re-present learning material more quickly, accurately, and coherently. Furthermore, this activity also has a positive impact on increasing students' self-confidence in the learning process and strengthening collaborative skills among group members. Thus, group guidance using the question-and-answer method can be considered an effective learning strategy for strengthening students' memory and increasing their learning motivation.

Abstract

Reproductive health is key to the continuity of human life from one generation to the next. Good reproductive health conditions in prospective brides and grooms (catin) will have an impact on the quality of future generations. Catin refers to men and women who do not yet have a legitimate bond under both religious and legal terms and are in the process of preparing for marriage. Prospective brides and grooms are the primary target for efforts to improve reproductive health during the preconception period. Therefore, catin need to prepare their reproductive health to ensure they can have quality generations after marriage. To address reproductive health issues in prospective brides and grooms, the Indonesian government has organized premarital courses aimed at preparing a healthy marital life and producing quality offspring. A total of 20 participants attended the premarital course. Premarital counseling is conducted to provide understanding and knowledge about reproductive health, focusing on prospective brides and grooms. Health professionals provide reproductive health education, conduct health checks, and administer TT immunization to the participants. This counseling is essential to ensure that prospective brides and grooms gain sufficient knowledge about reproductive health before marriage.

Abstract

Food security is a fundamental aspect of independent and sustainable village development. Kajarharjo Village has abundant natural resource potential, such as cassava and various herbal plants. However, the utilization of this potential is still less than optimal, both in terms of food processing and the implementation of environmentally friendly agriculture. This condition encourages the need for community service activities oriented towards food innovation and strengthening sustainable agriculture. This service activity was carried out using a participatory and applied approach at the Kajarharjo Village Hall. The main target is the village community, especially housewives and farmers. The program is implemented through two main activities, namely: (1) training in making cassava leaf nuggets as a nutritious food, an alternative local product, and a household business opportunity; and (2) training in making organic boosters from natural ingredients as a more environmentally friendly substitute for chemical fertilizers. Implementation methods include counseling, demonstrations, direct practice, and interactive discussions to ensure active community involvement. The results of the activities show an increase in community knowledge and skills. Housewives are able to process cassava leaves into products with nutritional and economic value, while farmers gain skills in mixing organic boosters that can improve soil quality and agricultural yields without relying on chemical fertilizers. The participants' enthusiasm was also evident in their active participation in the practical exercises and their desire to apply the knowledge gained in their daily activities. In conclusion, this activity successfully encouraged the utilization of local potential in Kajarharjo Village through food innovation and organic farming. Empowering the community through cassava leaf processing and organic fertilizer production not only strengthens food security but also opens up business opportunities, maintains environmental health, and supports the development of an independent, healthy, and sustainable village.
