Abstract

Hair waste is one type of waste generated by the beauty service industry, and most of it has not been utilized optimally. In fact, human hair possesses characteristics that make it suitable for processing into value-added creative products. This Community Service Program aims to increase public knowledge regarding the utilization of hair waste as a raw material for headpieces to support a sustainable creative industry in Mangunsari Village. The implementation method consisted of the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The training was conducted through interactive lectures, demonstrations, and educational videos on hair waste processing and the stages of headpiece production. Evaluation was carried out through observations of participants' participation, understanding of the material, and feedback throughout the activity. The results showed that participants gained a better understanding of the potential of hair waste as an alternative material, the processing methods, and the stages of headpiece production. The activity also provided insights into the application of the circular economy concept through the transformation of waste into creative products with aesthetic value and potential economic value. Therefore, this training can serve as a form of community empowerment that supports the development of a sustainable creative industry based on waste utilization.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) constitute a strategic sector of the national economy. However, many MSME owners still operate without formal business legalization. This Community Service Program (KKN) aimed to enhance the understanding and capacity of MSME owners regarding business legality through socialization and assistance in obtaining a Business Identification Number (Nomor Induk Berusaha/NIB) in Tanjung Agung Village. The study employed a descriptive-explanatory qualitative approach, consisting of the identification of MSME owners, socialization on the importance of business legality, direct assistance with the Business Identification Number (NIB) registration process through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, and evaluation of the program outcomes. The results showed that six MSME owners successfully obtained their Business Identification Numbers (NIBs). In addition, participants demonstrated an improved understanding of the benefits of business legalization, including greater access to government support programs, expanded business networks, and enhanced business credibility. The program was considered effective and is recommended for continuous implementation to promote broader formalization of MSMEs..

Abstract

Mangunsari Village, Gunungpati District, Semarang City, has considerable potential for the development of the creative economy. However, the local community still faces challenges in determining appropriate selling prices due to limited understanding of production cost calculation, Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM), profit margins, and pricing strategies. This community service program aimed to enhance the community's knowledge and skills in determining selling prices for creative economy products through pricing strategy training. The methods employed included lectures, discussions, practical exercises on calculating production costs and Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM), simulations of profit margin determination, and mentoring in setting product selling prices. The program was evaluated through observation, question-and-answer sessions, and participant satisfaction questionnaires. The results indicated that the training was successfully implemented, as reflected by the high level of participant engagement, improved understanding of production costs, Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM), profit margins, and pricing strategies, as well as a high level of participant satisfaction with the training. Overall, the program effectively improved the community's knowledge and readiness to develop appropriate pricing strategies, thereby supporting the growth of more competitive and sustainable creative economy enterprises.

Abstract

This initiative in Sumedang Regency focuses on enhancing human resource quality through English language instruction. Conducted by Universitas Terbuka, the community service project aims to empower rural residents by bringing together participants ranging from children to adults. English lessons are delivered using a combination of online and offline methods—an approach known as blended learning. Evaluations indicate improved English proficiency among the community, particularly in comprehension, speaking, and constructing basic sentences. Furthermore, the project has boosted participants' confidence in speaking English in public settings, such as when guiding tourists around the village. The initiative encourages the use of technology and motivates participants to learn the language.Overall, this community service activity demonstrates that English language learning combined with the use of technology can serve as a strategy for community empowerment—enhancing human resource quality, communication skills, and readiness for tourism development, while fostering the motivation to continuously develop English language competence.

Abstract

This community service initiative aims to empower the local community—specifically housewives and youth group members—by providing training in hair accessory production as a form of home-based creative economy enterprise. The initiative addresses issues such as a lack of marketable skills, limited formal employment opportunities, and the underutilization of leisure time among the working-age population in the target area. The implementation process comprised several stages: preparation and outreach; technical training on crafting hair accessories (clips, headbands, and hair ties) using fabric scraps, ribbons, and beads; production mentoring; digital marketing training; and an evaluation of outcomes. Results indicate a significant improvement in participants' knowledge and skills, the emergence of entrepreneurial interest, the formation of a joint business group, and the initiation of external marketing partnerships. This initiative is expected to serve as a sustainable model for community empowerment based on local potential, capable of being replicated in other regions with similar socio-economic characteristics.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is one of the efforts to enhance community economic independence through the development of entrepreneurial knowledge, skills, and attitudes. However, many community members still have limited understanding of strategies for starting and developing a business. Therefore, entrepreneurship training is needed to improve entrepreneurial competencies. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance participants' knowledge, understanding, and motivation regarding successful entrepreneurship strategies. The program was conducted at UPTD SPNF SKB Ungaran on June 18, 2026, involving 16 participants. The training methods included interactive lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and case studies. The results showed that participants actively engaged in all training sessions and demonstrated improved understanding of basic entrepreneurship concepts, business opportunity identification, marketing strategies, basic business management, and the importance of creativity and innovation in business development. The training also increased participants' motivation to start and develop their own businesses. Therefore, entrepreneurship success strategy training can serve as an effective community empowerment approach to strengthen entrepreneurial competencies and foster independent and competitive entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Household waste remains a persistent environmental challenge in many communities, including Sawah Lama Subdistrict, Bandar Lampung City, Indonesia. Limited public awareness regarding waste prevention, segregation, and processing has contributed to waste accumulation, environmental pollution, and public health risks. This community engagement program aimed to enhance public awareness and participation in household waste management through educational activities on waste prevention, segregation, and processing. The program was implemented using an educational and participatory approach that included presentations, hands-on demonstrations, waste segregation practices, and community assistance in managing household waste. In addition, the program was supported by the provision of waste collection facilities and collaboration with local waste management authorities. The results indicated an improvement in community understanding of the importance of proper waste management, as well as increased public participation in disposing of and segregating waste according to its type. This program is expected to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment while promoting sustainable waste management practices in Sawah Lama Subdistrict.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education requires teachers to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process. However, limited digital literacy remains a major challenge in implementing technology-based learning. This community service program aimed to enhance the competence of teachers at SD Muhammadiyah Binjai Hulu in utilizing AI as a learning medium. The program employed a participatory, hands-on training approach consisting of four stages: preparation, socialization, implementation, and evaluation. Program effectiveness was assessed through pre-test and post-test evaluations. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in teachers' competencies, as indicated by an increase in the average test score from 70 to 90, representing a 28.5% improvement. In addition to strengthening teachers' ability to use AI, the program also fostered their creativity and confidence in developing digital learning materials. Therefore, AI training can serve as an effective strategy for supporting the digital transformation of education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Training on developing creative products based on upcycling bottle cap waste in making environmentally friendly children's toys is one of the breakthroughs in waste utilization efforts. This training aims to provide additional knowledge to the community in the field of waste management. And this training is expected to add new experiences so as to improve the ability to become entrepreneurs in the field of creative waste management products. By processing plastic waste into valuable products, we can reduce the negative impact on the environment, reduce the use of new raw materials, create jobs, and reduce the amount of plastic waste that is disposed of. The stages of the method used are the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the evaluation stage. The final result of this community service is that participants are able to make upcycled creative products, namely starting from preparing tools and materials, selecting materials, the manufacturing process to adding decoration and finishing.

Abstract

This community service initiative—aimed at empowering the residents of Mangunsari Village, Gunungpati, through training on the creation of hair accessories (hairpieces) from hair waste—seeks to educate and empower the community to transform underutilized organic waste into high-value craft products, while simultaneously reducing the burden of environmental pollution. The results indicate that participants gained insight and knowledge regarding the production of hair accessories as creative products. Furthermore, the initiative enabled local women and housewives within the Mangunsari Village community (RW level) to increase their income by developing the skills to turn hair waste into marketable hair accessories. This activity also fosters entrepreneurial motivation among women and homemakers by developing skills that can be practiced independently. Thus, training in the creation of hairpieces from hair waste serves as a form of community empowerment that integrates environmental, creative, and skill-based aspects with economic opportunities. This program is expected to strengthen community self-reliance while raising awareness about the creative utilization of waste.
