Abstract

This study aims to understand how the assumption of humans as an organization is applied in the process of organizational development at SDN 05 Situjuah Gadang. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation study. The findings reveal that humans within the school organization function as mini- organizational systems possessing interconnected structures, functions, and goals. The principal, teachers, staff, and students interact through mechanisms of communication, collaboration, and continuous adaptation. Organizational development in the school is proven not to occur instantly but through participatory and reflective processes involving all human elements within it. By perceiving humans as dynamic and complex organizations, the school can create a collaborative, adaptive, and quality-oriented working environment that supports continuous improvement in educational outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the keys to the success of change agents based on the perspectives of administrative staff at MAN 1 Kota Bukittinggi. Change agents can be understood as individuals or groups capable of influencing, directing, and implementing organizational innovations to improve quality. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects focus on the administrative staff and teachers at MAN 1 Kota Bukittinggi. The results indicate that the success of change agents at MAN 1 Kota Bukittinggi is determined by four main factors: the efforts of change agents in establishing effective communication, alignment of change objectives with the vision and mission of the madrasa, the relevance of innovations to the needs of teachers and students, and the high empathy of the principal and educators towards organizational dynamics. Moreover, the implementation of ISO as a quality standard, the credit system program (SKS), quality improvement workshops, and the use of digital technologies such as AI Talent DNA in counseling services represent tangible manifestations of directed change. The findings of this study provide theoretical contributions in strengthening the concept of change agents in the context of Islamic education, as well as practical recommendations for schools to continuously foster a culture of innovation and participatory leadership.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, educational institutions are required to continuously adapt to remain relevant and effective. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Burnes’ Organizational Development Model at SDN 43 Sakura Dadok Tunggul Hitam, Padang City, as well as to identify its supporting and inhibiting factors and its impact on the school’s organizational effectiveness. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the application of Burnes’ model followed three key phases—unfreezing, changing, and refreezing— implemented through open communication and active participation among teachers and staff. These processes resulted in improved administrative efficiency, collaboration, and reflective culture within the school. From these findings, a new conceptual framework was developed, namely the Model of Sustainable Relational Adaptation (MARB), which integrates three interrelated dimensions: structural, cognitive, and relational. Theoretically, this study extends Burnes planned change theory by emphasizing the importance of social relationships and reflective learning in the context of Indonesian educational organizations. Practically, it provides recommendations for school leaders to adopt participatory leadership that fosters a collaborative and innovative school culture.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and technological advancement, educational institutions are required to adapt effectively to dynamic internal and external changes. This study aims to describe the organizational development process at SDN 09 2x11 Kayutanam based on modern organizational change theories proposed by Burnes (2017), Lewin (1947), and Passenheim (2010). This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Data were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s (2014) interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation for validation. The findings indicate that organizational development in the school occurred systematically through three main stages: unfreezing, change, and refreezing. The principal acted as a change agent, encouraging innovation, enhancing teacher participation, and strengthening a collaborative work culture. The success factors included participative leadership, effective communication, and strong commitment from school members, while challenges involved limited facilities, inadequate documentation, and resistance to change. Overall, the study highlights the importance of transformational leadership and adaptive organizational culture in ensuring sustainable development within primary education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the qualifications of change agents in realizing an adaptive school toward educational transformation at SMPN 2 Padang Panjang. A qualitative approach was employed using in-depth interviews with five informants, consisting of the principal, a guidance and counseling teacher, an Islamic education teacher, and two students. The findings reveal that the principal acts as the main driver of transformation by implementing participatory and innovative leadership to build an adaptive school culture. The guidance and counseling teacher functions as a social and emotional mediator who helps students understand the meaning of change while fostering reflective behavior and learning responsibility. The Islamic education teacher plays a crucial role in instilling spiritual and moral values contextualized to modern realities through value clarification–based learning. Meanwhile, students demonstrate increased awareness, autonomy, and engagement, marking a shift from teacher- centered to student-centered learning. The synergy between visionary leadership, humanistic counseling services, value-based education, and active student participation serves as the foundation for developing an adaptive school environment. These findings emphasize that the success of educational transformation is not solely determined by structural policies but by the capacity of each school actor to function as a reflective, collaborative, and forward-oriented change agent committed to continuous development.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the Lewin Model in organizational development from the perspective of administrative staff at SD Negeri 27 Anak Air, Lubuk Buaya, Koto Tangah District, Padang City, West Sumatra. The Lewin Model, consisting of three stages unfreezing, moving (changing), and refreezing is a classic framework that remains relevant for managing planned change in educational institutions. This qualitative descriptive study employed in-depth interview methods and field observations with administrative staff at the school. The results indicate that SDN 27 Anak Air applies the Lewin Model particularly in managing major changes such as curriculum transitions, while routine organizational development activities tend to follow the Action Research Model. Implementation of the Lewin Model shows varying effectiveness across the three stages: unfreezing involves coordination meetings and socialization from the education office; moving is characterized by dynamic adaptation among teachers with varying support needs; and refreezing is achieved after approximately one year when the new curriculum becomes established practice and drives teacher innovation. This research concludes that the Lewin Model is effectively applied for managing major transformations, though its implementation requires strong leadership commitment, adequate training, continuous support systems, and active participation from all school members to ensure successful and sustainable organizational change

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has brought significant changes to various aspects of life, including education. In the context of elementary school learning, AI is beginning to be utilized as a tool to improve the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. The main issues addressed in this research are how AI can provide benefits in improving learning effectiveness, the challenges that arise in its implementation in elementary school environments, and efforts to maintain personal interactions between teachers and students amidst the use of technology. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of AI use on students' learning experiences and the role of teachers in creating a balanced learning environment between technology and the human touch. The research method used a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study plan, and data collection techniques through literature review and limited field observations. The results indicate that AI can support a more interactive, personalized, and efficient learning process. However, the main challenges faced are limited infrastructure, teacher digital competency, and the potential reduction in direct social interaction. Therefore, collaboration between teachers, students, and technology is crucial to creating an optimal learning process.
