Abstract

Hallucinations are a condition in which a person loses the ability to distinguish between internal and external stimuli, resulting in the perception of the environment without any real objects or stimuli. This condition is often found in patients with mental disorders and can affect social functioning and quality of life. Based on medical records at Prof. DR. HB Sa’anin Mental Hospital, Padang, the most common nursing problem in the past three years has been hallucinations, with 17,591 patients. The purpose of this case study is to apply psychiatric nursing care to patients with auditory hallucinations at Prof. DR. HB Saanin Mental Hospital. HB Saanin Padang. The method used in this scientific paper is a case study with a nursing process approach, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The assessment results indicated that the patient experienced signs and symptoms of hallucinations, including hearing whispers. The primary nursing diagnosis was hallucinations, with a co-diagnosis of self-care deficit (SDC). After nursing care, the patient was able to address self-care issues and control hallucinations independently through the implementation of Implementation Strategies (SP): SP 1: practicing reprimands, SP 2: taking medication regularly, SP 3: having conversations, and SP 4: carrying out scheduled daily activities. These results indicate that the implementation of implementation strategies is effective in helping the patient control hallucinations and improving self-care skills. It is hoped that through this research, everyone can understand the importance of psychiatric nursing care, thereby increasing awareness in maintaining and preserving mental health, and adopting behaviors that support optimal mental well-being in daily life.

Abstract

Psychological well-being describes a person's psychological success and capacity to accept himself, be able to socialize be able to control himself. Meanwhile, loneliness is a mental condition characterized by feelings of emptiness. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of psychological well-being relationship with loneliness using the quantitative method of the correlational method. This study uses a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method consisting of 70 Semester 2 Students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Jambi. According to Ryfff's Scales of Psychological Well-Being and the Loneliness Scale, with the technical analysis of descriptive statistical program Jeffreys's Amazing Statistics Program versi 0.96.0. The results of the hypothesis test through correlation analysis showed a significant value with the direction of the negative relationship (inversely proportional) between psychological well-being and loneliness (r = -0.298; p = 0.012 < 0.05). This study indicates that the higher the psychological well-being of students, the lower the level of loneliness felt. On the other hand, low psychological well-being due to academic burden and lack of social support can increase feelings of isolation, so it is necessary to strengthen psychological aspects and adequate social support for early year students.

Abstract

Cognitive ability is one aspect often hampered in children with physical disabilities, particularly those with cerebral palsy, requiring interventions to support their development. This article aims to map various cognitive interventions used to improve cognitive abilities in children with physical disabilities. The method used was a scoping review referring to the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Articles were searched through the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases, covering publications from 2020 to 2025. Based on a selection process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, nine articles were selected for analysis. The study results indicate that the interventions used include computer-based cognitive training, the Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach, interventions integrating neurological, motor, and cognitive aspects, and game-based approaches and dual-task activities. These interventions contribute to improvements in executive function, memory, attention, social cognition, daily activity skills, and functional status. These findings suggest that developing cognitive abilities in children with physical disabilities can be achieved through various approaches involving cognitive, motor, and metacognitive aspects.

Abstract

The presence of a child with cerebral palsy presents various psychological, social, economic, and caregiving challenges that may affect family functioning. Nevertheless, many families are able to adapt and maintain their well-being through the development of family resilience. This study aimed to describe family resilience among families of children with cerebral palsy using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Articles were retrieved from Semantic Scholar, Garuda, and DOAJ databases following the PRISMA guidelines. Studies published between 2017 and 2026 were selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of the 253 articles initially identified, 11 studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the review. The findings indicate that family resilience is a dynamic adaptation process in coping with the long-term demands of caregiving. Internal factors contributing to resilience include acceptance of the child's condition, effective family communication, optimism, and adaptive coping strategies. External factors include social support, institutional support, socioeconomic conditions, and religiosity. Strong family resilience is associated with improved quality of life, healthier family functioning, and better psychological well-being among parents. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening family resilience as a foundation for developing psychological interventions and family support programs for families raising children with cerebral palsy.

Abstract

Single mothers within the sandwich generation structure are required to meet the needs of two generations simultaneously, placing them at heightened risk of experiencing parental burnout, yet research that specifically examines the intersection of these two phenomena remains relatively limited, particularly in Indonesia. This study aims to explore the experience of parental burnout among single mothers within the sandwich generation structure. Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type, data were analyzed through Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Two single mothers who act as primary breadwinners and sole caregivers participated in this study. The results revealed three main themes: (1) Motivation to Persist, (2) Challenges and Caregiving Pressures, and (3) Exhaustion and Coping Strategies. The parental burnout experienced aligned with the four dimensions of the Parental Burnout Assessment (PBA), with role exhaustion being the most dominant dimension. The factors contributing to burnout were analyzed using Ecological Systems Theory, which showed that burnout is driven by multi-level pressures across the micro, meso, exo, and macro systems, stemming from a chronic imbalance between high caregiving demands and limited resources. Nevertheless, religious and relational coping strategies help participants maintain their daily functioning.

Abstract

The development of information technology and social media has made it easier for university students to access information and maintain social interactions. However, excessive social media use may lead to the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), a feeling of anxiety when individuals believe they are missing out on experiences, activities, or information enjoyed by others. One psychological factor presumed to reduce FoMO is self-control. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-control and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among university students. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 55 active university students aged 18–23 years who met the research criteria. Data were collected online through Google Forms using self-control and FoMO scales developed based on relevant theories. Data analysis was conducted using JASP through assumption tests, including normality and linearity tests. The normality test results showed that the self-control variable had a significance value of 0.435 and the FoMO variable had a significance value of 0.100 (p > 0.05), indicating that both variables were normally distributed. The linearity test results indicated a linear relationship between self-control and FoMO. Based on the findings and theoretical review, self-control functions as a psychological factor that helps individuals regulate social media use, manage the urge to remain constantly connected to digital social activities, and reduce the tendency to experience FoMO. The higher the level of self-control among students, the lower their tendency to experience Fear of Missing Out.

Abstract

Natural medicines are often formulated into solid dosage forms, but the physicochemical properties of herbal extracts, such as hygroscopicity, viscosity, and poor flow characteristics, pose major challenges. This review aims to analyze the progress of pharmacotechnical innovations in pre-formulation, production methods, physical quality evaluation, and release kinetics of herbal solid dosage forms. The method applied is a systematic literature review of 25 research articles from the period 2017-2026 derived from the Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases. The results of the study indicate that innovations in adsorbent excipients have proven successful in addressing the issue of the stability of thick extract print masses. Recent innovations include technology that converts liquids to solids, improvements in the mechanical structure of plant-based polymer capsules using calcium carbonate, engineering heat-resistant granular matrices, and the use of nanotechnology and inclusion complexes. These innovations have been proven to significantly reduce excessive bitterness and increase the bioavailability of active substances in the body. In conclusion, the combination of rigorous compendial evaluation and smart drug delivery system technology can produce stable, precise, and highly efficacious herbal preparations comparable to modern synthetic drugs.

Abstract

Negative self-perceptions among older adults represent a form of internalized ageism that may adversely affect psychological well-being and quality of life. This study aimed to identify the forms of negative self-perceptions in older adults, the factors associated with their development, their psychological consequences, and potential interventions to address them. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. Literature searches were performed in PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Sage Journals databases. Of the 97 records identified, 12 studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. The findings revealed that negative self-perceptions among older adults commonly manifest as internalized ageist stereotypes, negative self-perceptions of aging, and self-directed ageism. Contributing factors include sociodemographic characteristics, physical and psychological health conditions, sociocultural environments, and experiences with healthcare services and social institutions. Negative self-perceptions were associated with adverse psychological outcomes, including increased depression, anxiety, and reduced engagement in health-promoting behaviors. Several intervention approaches were identified, including psychological programs targeting internalized ageism, physical activity interventions, meaningful activity engagement, and strategies aimed at improving age-inclusive healthcare practices and broader social policies. These findings highlight the need for multidimensional interventions at individual, social, and structural levels to promote healthier aging.
