This study aims to analyze the signs and meanings in the poetry anthology Museum Penghancur Dokumen by Afrizal Malna using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. Frizal Malna is a poet known for his writing style, which often uses everyday objects as symbols to express social and human realities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach. The research data consists of the text of the poetry anthology, which is analyzed through three levels of meaning: denotative, connotative, and mythical. The results of the analysis show that at the denotative level, these poems use various simple objects that are familiar in everyday life, such as erasers, glue, scissors, rulers, and paper. At the connotative level, these objects become symbols of loss, alienation, social wounds, and emptiness in modern life. Meanwhile, at the mythical level, this poem forms a grand narrative about humans who are often trapped in social systems and the Indonesian nation that has not yet completely escaped the shadow of colonialism. Thus, this work presents social criticism and deep reflection on the condition of modern humans.

This study aims to describe the forms of language politeness violations found in the Rakyat Bersuara program entitled "The Big Man Behind the Noise of Jokowi's Diploma." This study uses a pragmatic approach with a descriptive qualitative research type. The data for this study are speeches containing violations of language politeness. The data source for this study is the Rakyat Bersuara program, July 30, 2025 edition, entitled "The Big Man Behind the Noise of Jokowi's Diploma" on the INEWS YouTube channel. The data collection technique in this study uses the listening and note-taking method. Data validity is checked using the theory and method triangulation technique. This study uses Leech's (1993) politeness theory as the basis for analysis. The data analysis technique in this study uses the Miles and Huberman interactive model which includes three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that there were violations of politeness in six maxims, namely 2 violations of the maxim of wisdom, 1 violation of the maxim of generosity, 5 violations of the maxim of praise, 1 violation of the maxim of humility, 1 violation of the maxim of agreement, and 2 violations of the maxim of sympathy. Violations of politeness in language were used to defend arguments, to attack interlocutors who disagreed, and also to enhance one's positive image and to maximize losses to interlocutors.

This study examines the transformation of the character Sumarah in the monologue Balada Sumarah by Tentrem Lestari, drawing on Slavoj Žižek's theory. The main focus of this study is to analyze external factors, moments of emptiness, and radical actions that occur in the process of changing the symbolic order experienced by Sumarah. The purpose of this study is to understand how external events, such as the social stigma and rejection she faces, shape her awareness and radical actions as an effort to liberate herself. The method used is a qualitative approach with literary analysis, which connects Žižek's theory on the symbolic order, emptiness, and the radicalization of the subject. The results of the study show that the change in the symbolic order experienced by Sumarah is influenced not only by external factors but also by moments of emptiness that give rise to a deep awareness that drives radical actions. In conclusion, the murder committed by Sumarah is a form of self-liberation from an oppressive social order. Recommendations for further research include exploring the application of Žižek's theory to literary characters, especially monologues, and the social implications of radical actions in a literary context.

This study aims to reveal the representation of Tzvetan Todorov’s structuralism in the short story Memanggil Roh Singa (“Summoning the Lion’s Spirit”), which contains elements of magical realism. Todorov’s structuralist approach is employed to examine the relationship among the intrinsic elements, particularly the narrative facts, theme, and literary devices. The short story is analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method through close reading of the text and identification of its narrative structure based on Todorov’s framework, as well as an analysis of the characteristics of magical realism using Wendy B. Faris’s theory to validate its magical aspects. The results indicate that Memanggil Roh Singa represents Todorov’s distinctive structural pattern, consisting of 21 narrative sequences dominated by flashbacks. The setting portrays magical elements with a ritual theme of “kammala”, narrated from a first-person point of view. The narration is dominated by metaphorical and personifying language, enriched with mystical symbols. This research demonstrates that Todorov’s structuralism is effective in uncovering the layers of meaning within a short story characterized by magical realism, as it reveals the coherence between the narrative structure and its embedded mystical dimensions.

Regional language interference remains a common issue in the use of Indonesian in higher education, particularly among students who are native speakers of the Manggarai language. This phenomenon appears through the influence of regional linguistic structures and vocabulary on the accuracy of Indonesian sentences. This study aims to identify the forms of Manggarai language interference in the Indonesian used by students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas Pancasakti Makassar, and to describe its manifestations in interrogative, exclamatory, and conditional sentences. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data consisting of utterances obtained from interviews and recorded conversations with students. Data were collected through interviews and participant observation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings show that interference is most frequently found in interrogative sentences, amounting to 14 out of 23 data (60.87%). Interference in exclamatory sentences appears in 5 data (21.74%), while conditional sentence interference is the least, with 4 data (17.39%). These results indicate that interrogative sentence structures are the most vulnerable to the influence of the Manggarai language. Therefore, greater reinforcement is needed to encourage the consistent use of standard Indonesian, particularly in constructing interrogative sentences.
