Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the institution in providing legal aid in divorce cases, as well as identifying the challenges faced and solutions that can be applied in providing legal aid in divorce cases in Sangatta. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Data analysis was carried out using the interactive technique of Miles and Huberman, which includes data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and data verification to produce valid and credible findings. This research was conducted at LBH Suara Rakyat Kutim which is located at Jalan H Abdullah, Gang Pipos, Sangatta Utara Village, Sangatta Utara District, East Kutai and took place from August 2024 to February 2025. The results of the study show that: 1) The Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Suara Rakyat Kutai Timur (SRKT) has a very important role in providing legal aid in divorce cases, especially for the underprivileged. LBH SRKT not only plays a role in providing legal advocacy, assistance in the trial process, and drafting lawsuits, but also in improving public legal literacy through counseling and consultation. 2) LBH SRKT also faces a number of challenges in handling divorce cases, such as limited public legal knowledge, social stigma that prevents individuals from expressing their legal problems, and tensions between state law and customary law that affect the division of joint property and child custody. In facing these challenges, LBH SRKT has implemented various solutions, such as the establishment of Legal Aid Posts (Posbakum) and collaborating with religious courts and district courts to provide legal aid services that are more easily accessible to the public. This solution has proven effective in improving public legal understanding and accelerating the process of resolving divorce cases.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the extent of the influence of transformational leadership and work compensation on employee productivity at the Land Office of East Kutai Regency. This type of research is classified as field research using a quantitative approach. This research uses complementary data collection techniques, namely the questionnaire technique to obtain research data through scoring from respondents, then the observation technique to directly observe activities taking place at the East Kutai Land Office, and finally the documentation technique to obtain additional supporting data needed in this research. The population in this study consists of 47 respondents, who are all employees of the East Kutai Land Office. Next, to analyze the data, the researcher used the multiple linear regression formula. The results of this study indicate that the transformational leadership variable has a positive but not significant effect on work productivity at the Kutai Timur Land Office by 15.1%. Furthermore, the work compensation variable has a positive and significant effect on employee work productivity at the East Kutai Land Office by 61%. Then, together, the transformational leadership variable and work compensation have a positive and significant impact on employee productivity at the East Kutai Land Office by 76.1%, while the remaining 23.9% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.

Abstract

The debate over women's leadership in public office remains a persistent theme in Islamic discourse, spanning both classical and contemporary perspectives. Classical Islamic political jurisprudence (fiqh siyasah) predominantly restricts the highest leadership roles—such as head of state or political leader—to men, rooted in normative textual interpretations and the patriarchal sociocultural context of earlier times. However, contemporary approaches such as maqāṣid al-sharīʿah offer a more inclusive and contextual framework, emphasizing principles of public interest (maṣlaḥah), justice, and individual capability, irrespective of gender. Through a comprehensive literature-based analysis, this study re-examines traditional viewpoints in light of maqāṣid principles and argues that women's involvement in public leadership aligns with the higher objectives of Islamic law. The findings support the urgency of reconstructing Islamic legal thought in a more progressive and contextual direction—one that is capable of addressing modern social dynamics and eliminating gender-biased interpretations. This study thus contributes to the development of a more equitable and inclusive vision of Islamic governance.

Abstract

Parents, especially fathers and mothers, are central figures in a child's life who play a major role in the process of growth and character formation. From before birth to adulthood, children receive attention, affection, protection, and invaluable sacrifices from both parents. They carry out this noble duty wholeheartedly and without expecting anything in return, solely for the sake of their children's well-being and future. In this context, it is important for children to recognize the value of such sacrifices and cultivate a sense of devotion as a form of respect and gratitude. In Islamic teachings, the concept of devotion to parents is known as birrul walidain, which includes the obligation of children to treat their parents well, respect them, and pray for them. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach, aiming to explore and analyze Islamic values regarding children's obligations toward their parents based on relevant literary sources. The results of the study confirm that respect for parents is an integral part of character formation and noble values in Islam.

Abstract

The concept of imamah in Islam plays a vital role in discussions of leadership, both in religious and political contexts. Following the death of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Muslim community faced the fundamental question of who should lead and how leadership should be exercised. Diverging views between Sunni and Shia schools of thought on imamah have produced various theological and historical interpretations. This article aims to examine the historical development of the concept of imamah in Islam and to explore the relevance of its core values to contemporary models of leadership. The study employs a qualitative approach using literature review methods, analyzing both primary classical sources and contemporary academic works. The findings reveal that, although imamah emerged in a different sociopolitical context, its foundational values—such as justice, knowledge, and moral responsibility—remain relevant in shaping ethical and integrity-based leadership today. It concludes that imamah is not merely a historical concept but can serve as a source of inspiration for modern leadership rooted in Islamic principles.

Abstract

This study examines general elections (pemilu) as a modern political mechanism that can serve as a contemporary alternative to the khilafah system in Islamic political tradition. Using theological and historical-political approaches, this study explores the fundamental differences between the centralist khilafah system, which is based on religious legitimacy, and the electoral system rooted in popular participation and sovereignty of law. The analysis focuses on the concepts of imamah, syura, and bai’ah in classical Islamic political thought and how these principles have transformed in the context of modern democracy. The study also reviews the responses of various groups, both proponents and opponents of electoral systems, and the normative arguments used to legitimize or reject it. The findings suggest that while khilafah is seen as an ideal system in classical literature, elections can be understood as a relevant instrument within maqashid shariah, ensuring justice, participation, and representation for the ummah. Thus, elections are not simply a Western product but can be contextualized within the framework of Islamic politics as a form of contemporary ijtihad.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic financial literacy on people's interest in becoming customers at Bank Muamalat, Sangatta Utara District, East Kutai Regency. Islamic financial literacy is defined as people's understanding of financial principles in accordance with Islamic sharia, including knowledge of Islamic financial products and how to manage finances well. This study uses a quantitative approach with a data collection method through a questionnaire distributed to 50 respondents. The results of the study indicate that Islamic financial literacy has a positive and significant influence on people's interest in becoming customers. The simple linear regression test produces a regression coefficient of 0.823, which indicates that every one-scale increase in Islamic financial literacy will increase people's interest in becoming customers. In addition, the results of the T and F tests show that Islamic financial literacy has a significant effect on interest in becoming customers with a significance value of 0.000.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how much influence the call for a boycott of pro-Israel products on social media has on the decision to purchase alternative products among students of the Islamic Economics study program. This type of research is field research using a quantitative approach. This study uses data collection techniques that complement each other, namely the questionnaire technique to obtain research data by scoring from respondents, then the observation technique to directly observe student purchasing activities that take place, both on campus and off campus, then the documentation technique to obtain some supporting data that is also needed in this study. From the results of the calculation using the formula, a constant number of 9.860 and a regression coefficient of 0.780 are obtained so that the form of the regression equation is Y = 9.860 + 0.780X. So, the call for a boycott of pro-Israel products on social media has a positive effect on the decision to purchase alternative products among students of the Islamic Economics study program at STAI Sangatta. The regression equation is used to predict how strong and how much influence the call for a boycott of pro-Israel products has on the decision to purchase alternative products among students of the Islamic Economics study program at STAI Sangatta. The correlation coefficient test produces an R value of 0.825 with an interpretation between 0.800 - 1.000 which means that the correlation of the variable of the call to boycott pro-Israel products on social media to the decision to purchase alternative products is included in the very strong relationship level.

Abstract

Buying and selling is part of economic activities that cannot be separated from human life, both in the past and in the present. In the view of Islam, buying and selling is an aspect of life that is grouped into muamalah issues, namely relationships between fellow humans that are regulated so that they remain fair and do not harm each other. With the view of the Qur'an and Hadith, we can find out how the principles of justice in buying and selling are applied. The principles of justice in buying and selling include honesty in conveying information, the willingness of both parties, as well as the prohibition of fraudulent practices (tadlis) and usury. All these values aim to make buying and selling run in a fair way and in accordance with Islamic teachings. In practice, these principles also include the need for an agreement without coercion, clarity of the object of the transaction (bayyinah), and fulfillment of the rights and obligations of each party. This research is important to provide a deeper understanding of Islamic business ethics in the contemporary context, especially in the midst of the development of the digital economy and the rise of online transactions that are prone to manipulation of information and exploitation of weak parties.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of service quality on customer decisions in investing in mudharabah products at Bank Muamalat Kutai Timur. The background of this study is the importance of the role of service quality in influencing customer interests and decisions, especially in sharia-based investment products such as mudharabah, which prioritize the principles of trust, transparency, and fair cooperation. In the sharia financial system, service quality is one of the key aspects that can determine the loyalty and sustainability of the relationship between the bank and its customers. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents who are customers of Bank Muamalat Kutai Timur. Data analysis techniques used include validity, reliability, normality tests, simple linear regression analysis, determination coefficient (R²) tests, and F significance tests. The results of the validity test show that all question items in the questionnaire are declared valid, with a correlation value of > 0.3 and significance < 0.05. The reliability test shows a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.766 which indicates that this research instrument has good reliability. The results of the regression analysis show that service quality has a positive and significant effect on customer investment decisions. This is indicated by the correlation coefficient (R) of 0.743 and the determination coefficient (R²) of 0.552, which means that 55.2% of customer decision variables can be explained by service quality, while the other 44.8% are influenced by other factors outside this study. The normality test shows that the data is normally distributed, so the basic assumptions of the regression analysis have been met.
