Abstract

This study examines supervisory culture and practices in Islamic educational institutions through a qualitative case study at MAN 2 Kota Jambi. The research is situated within the context of institutional transformation toward global quality standards, digital governance, and performance-based accountability.Using a qualitative case study approach, this research explores how the madrasah principal negotiates tensions between external performance demands—such as A-level accreditation and the Global Class Program—and internal organizational challenges related to discipline, communication, and professional commitment. Data were collected through participant observation, document analysis, and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that Integrated Situational Leadership supported by digital-based supervision (E-Supervision), particularly through the Civil Servant Performance Index (IP ASN), has strengthened institutional legitimacy and strategic performance. However, a cultural paradox persists at the micro level, where compliance-oriented supervision has not been fully internalized as professional self-discipline. The study concludes that sustainable quality transformation in Islamic education requires a shift from external supervision toward self-supervision grounded in transcendental Islamic values (Mas’uliyah).

Abstract

This study examines how parental economic level and parental expectancy influence santri self-efficacy through motivation, and how self-efficacy subsequently affects self-transformational outcomes among santri in Islamic boarding schools. While previous studies have largely focused on academic achievement or motivation as final outcomes, this research introduces self-transformational santri as an impact variable, representing sustained personal growth and internal change. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design is proposed, involving santri from Islamic boarding schools in Jambi Province (Kota Jambi, Sarolangun, and Bungo). Data are analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings are expected to demonstrate that parental economic level and parental expectancy positively influence motivation and self-efficacy, while self-efficacy santri serves as a key antecedent of self-transformational outcomes. This study contributes a novel psychological pathway model relevant to Islamic education management and pesantren development.

Abstract

The growing emphasis on environmental sustainability has encouraged organizations to integrate green principles into their human resource management practices. This study aims to examine the effect of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) on Employee Green Behavior (EGB), with Environmental Commitment serving as a mediating variable. Drawing on Social Exchange Theory and the Ability–Motivation–Opportunity (AMO) framework, this research proposes that environmentally oriented HR practices can foster employees’ commitment to environmental values, which in turn encourages pro-environmental behavior in the workplace. A quantitative research design was employed using a survey method. Data were collected from 320 employees working in manufacturing and service organizations. The measurement model and structural relationships were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that GHRM practices have a significant positive effect on Employee Green Behavior. Furthermore, Environmental Commitment was found to have a significant positive impact on Employee Green Behavior and partially mediates the relationship between GHRM and Employee Green Behavior. These findings contribute to the green HRM literature by empirically validating the mediating role of Environmental Commitment in explaining how GHRM influences employee behavior. From a practical perspective, the study highlights the importance of embedding environmental values within HR policies such as green recruitment, green training, and green performance management to strengthen employees’ environmental commitment and promote sustainable behavior. This research offers valuable insights for managers seeking to enhance organizational sustainability through human resource strategies, particularly in emerging economy contexts.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of today’s business environment requires graduates to possess not only strong management knowledge but also effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills. In business and retail management education, these competencies are critical for preparing students to engage in real-world organizational and inter-organizational interactions. This study aims to examine how the integration of management fundamentals, business communication, and negotiation skills contributes to the development of collaborative business competencies among students. Using a quantitative approach, this study collected data from students enrolled in business and retail management programs at a vocational higher education institution. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires measuring perceptions of management fundamentals, business communication skills, negotiation skills, and collaborative business competencies. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the direct and indirect relationships among the constructs. The results indicate that management fundamentals have a significant positive effect on both business communication and negotiation skills. Furthermore, business communication and negotiation skills were found to significantly enhance collaborative business competencies. The findings also reveal that business communication and negotiation skills partially mediate the relationship between management fundamentals and collaborative business competencies. These results suggest that management knowledge alone is insufficient to foster effective collaboration unless it is complemented by strong communication and negotiation capabilities. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on the importance of an integrated learning approach in business and management education, particularly within vocational contexts. From a practical perspective, the findings highlight the need for curriculum designs that intentionally integrate management theory with applied communication and negotiation training to better prepare graduates for collaborative business environments.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and modern work systems is often assumed to increase organizational productivity and performance. However, in practice, many organizations experience increased workloads without corresponding improvements in performance quality. This article aims to analyze why modern work systems often fail to produce high performance, despite being supported by increasingly sophisticated management practices and technology. Using a narrative-critical literature review approach to scientific publications in the fields of management, cognitive psychology, and organizational behavior from 2015 to 2025, this article examines the relationship between work system design, cognitive limitations, planning biases, emotional regulation, and performance sustainability. The analysis shows that modern work systems are built on assumptions that are at odds with human cognitive and emotional capacities, such as demands for multitasking, constant responsiveness, and overly optimistic performance targets. These conditions foster the illusion of activity-based productivity, increase cognitive load and emotional stress, and hinder deep focus and quality decision-making. This article contributes to the productivity management literature by asserting that productivity is a systemic phenomenon that depends on the alignment between work system design and human psychological capacities. The article's practical implications emphasize the importance of shifting work systems toward sustainable, high-quality performance.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Perceived Exhibition Atmosphere and Art Involvement on Brand Image, with Visitor Satisfaction as an intervening variable among visitors to Museum MACAN Jakarta. The study is motivated by the growing popularity of contemporary art museums in Indonesia, which has not always been accompanied by strong visitor satisfaction and a sustainable brand image. A preliminary survey revealed a predominance of neutral responses across key variables, indicating perceptual ambiguity as well as practical and academic gaps in the Indonesian museum context. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires from 200 Museum MACAN visitors aged 17–60 using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to examine causal relationships and the mediating role of visitor satisfaction. The results demonstrate that Perceived Exhibition Atmosphere and Art Involvement have a positive and significant effect on Visitor Satisfaction and Brand Image. Furthermore, Visitor Satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on Brand Image and mediates the relationship between the antecedent variables and brand image. These findings highlight that visitor satisfaction plays a critical role in translating exhibition experiences and artistic engagement into a positive and sustainable museum brand image.
