Bhandar: Harvesting Community Service in Asia (BHANDAR) (3088-9898) adalah jurnal akademis yang berfokus pada pengumpulan, dokumentasi, dan penyebarluasan hasil pengabdian pada masyarakat, penelitian, serta praktik terbaik di seluruh Asia. Nama "Bhandar," yang berarti "lumbung," mencerminkan tujuan jurnal ini sebagai wadah penyimpanan dan berbagi berbagai inisiatif masyarakat yang bernilai. Diterbitkan oleh PPJB-SIP bekerja sama dengan IKAPROBSI, jurnal ini menjadi platform bagi akademisi, praktisi, dan pemangku kepentingan untuk berbagi wawasan, inovasi, dan pengalaman dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat, pendidikan, serta layanan sosial. Sebagai jurnal multidisiplin, BHANDAR menerima berbagai jenis artikel, termasuk laporan pengabdian masyarakat, penelitian terapan, studi kasus, tinjauan pustaka, dan artikel konseptual. Fokusnya mencakup isu sosial, budaya, ekonomi, dan lingkungan yang dihadapi masyarakat Asia, dengan tujuan mendokumentasikan serta menyebarluaskan upaya kolektif dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Selain itu, BHANDAR berupaya membangun jaringan akademisi dan praktisi yang kuat, menjadikannya tidak hanya sebagai gudang pengetahuan, tetapi juga katalisator perubahan yang mendorong solidaritas, inovasi, dan keberlanjutan dalam layanan masyarakat.

This community service initiative was conducted to help foreign students in the BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) program develop a deeper understanding of cultural discourse in their daily interactions. Using a hands-on, experiential learning approach, students were guided in mastering culturally appropriate speech acts such as making requests, offering invitations, providing advice, and pleading, all in accordance with Indonesian social norms. The results of the project indicate significant improvements in the students' ability to communicate politely and effectively, reflecting their increased awareness of Indonesian cultural etiquette. This enhanced communication competence has facilitated smoother adaptation to the social environment in Indonesia, helping students build better relationships and integrate more fully into the local community.

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of providing insights, motivation, and strategies to doctoral students in facing academic challenges. The program was conducted in the form of an interactive discussion at the Post Graduate Meet-Up at the Faculty for Language Studies and Human Development, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. An expert speaker, who is both an academic and practitioner, shared their experiences in completing doctoral studies, emphasizing time management, research strategies, and learning motivation. The results of the activity showed increased awareness among students about the importance of planning, time management, and a strong support system in the doctoral study process. Additionally, students received practical tips to improve the effectiveness of their research.

This community service activity aims to empower the community of Padangpanjang through training in traditional arts. By understanding the dynamics of their arts and culture, it is hoped that the community can preserve and develop traditional art that forms part of their identity. The Meranti Regency is endowed with a rich biodiversity, including the sea cucumber, locally known as beronok, which has been recognized by the local community for its high nutritional value. This article explores community empowerment efforts aimed at utilizing beronok to enhance nutritional quality and overall well-being. With its rich content of protein, minerals, and other health benefits, beronok holds the potential to be developed into a valuable functional food source. Through educational programs and training, the community is encouraged to process and utilize beronok effectively to support food security and promote healthier lifestyles. This initiative not only aims to improve the nutritional intake of the local population but also to enhance their socio-economic status by creating new opportunities for livelihood through sustainable use of natural resources. By increasing community awareness and skills in processing beronok, the program seeks to foster a self-sufficient and health-conscious community. The study highlights the importance of integrating local resources into community development strategies to address nutritional challenges and improve living standards, thereby contributing to the overall resilience and sustainability of the region.

Avoid devoting too much space for introduction or background, which is unnecessary. Various phenomena of popular culture today have become an inseparable part of the dynamics of societal development. Various applications are also created as products of popular culture. Current applications reflect the culture that is widely used or popular. Popular culture is the culture that is liked by many people and can be easily found on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. This research uses qualitative methodology as a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observed behaviors. Characteristics can be identified from the storytelling strategies used. The digital discourse used by someone generally employs commissive speech acts such as giving challenges, proposing, and offering with strategies that mark group identity, as well as amplifying attention, approval, and sympathy. The phenomenon that supports the rise of popular culture on contemporary applications allows users to freely express themselves. TikTok users engage in conversation to create attraction, making the opposite sex more interested. From the types of speech acts and communication strategies used, the characteristics of digital speech employed in contemporary applications can be identified. This research provides deeper insights into how digital technology is changing communication patterns in the context of matchmaking and offers a new perspective in the study of digital linguistics and interpersonal communication. This research also shows the shifting Eastern cultural values between men and women. It is hoped that the findings from this research can contribute to the development of more effective matchmaking applications, as well as enrich the understanding of the impact of technology on human interactions.

Tropical forests in the Mentawai Islands have a very important role in the lives of the Mentawai people, both as natural resources and as a center of culture and spirituality. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between forests and the traditions of the Mentawai people, and how the sustainability of nature and culture are maintained in their daily lives. This research method is qualitative with an approach to oral tradition, ethnography, sociological anthropology. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, documentation studies. Data analysis techniques using reduction, data presentation and data verification or drawing conclusions. The results of this study are: The Mentawai people utilize forest resources in a very wise way, based on local wisdom that has been passed down from generation to generation. However, the Mentawai forest is currently facing various threats, such as deforestation and land conversion, which have an impact on the sustainability of their culture. By exploring the importance of Mentawai traditions in forest management and the challenges faced.

This study examines the application of Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy in improving students' critical thinking skills when understanding texts. Critical thinking is essential for students to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information effectively. This study highlights the importance of incorporating interactive reading strategies in educational practices to foster deeper comprehension and critical analysis in students of Akper Kesdam I/BB Padang. The method used in this study is classroom action research with a sample of 41 TK II students who are studying English for Nursing. The learning outcomes of students who obtained completeness in the pre-cycle or pre-test are still included in the category of less than good (very low) with an average value obtained of 56.80 or 24.39%. After conducting cycle I, there was an increase in the average value of 66.20 or 43.90% and after reflection continued to cycle II, the average value of students was 81.20 or 82.92%. It can be concluded that the implementation of the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy can improve the students critical thinking in reading. The implications of these findings suggest that educators should adopt the DRTA strategy to improve reading engagement and critical thinking in diverse learning contexts.

This community service aims to help students become skilled at writing negotiation texts. This activity was carried out at UNP Laboratory Development High School. The implementation of learning to write negotiation texts in Community Service applies learning with a differentiated approach. Efforts are made to implement differentiated learning by paying attention to learning activities that can accommodate students according to their needs and learning styles. The method used in Community Service is a learning method with the application of differentiated learning. Learning differentiates learning pressure according to students' learning styles, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The results of the service implementation show that students in the auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning groups can follow the learning process well. Negotiation text learning activities became interesting, students were actively involved, and the results of students' negotiation text writing skills showed an average score of 84 at a mastery level of 76-85% in the Good category.
