Abstract

Many migrant workers in Hong Kong struggle to manage their income due to low levels of financial literacy, resulting in their economic potential not being optimally utilized. Low financial management skills can increase the risk of excessive debt and unproductive consumption, thus affecting their long-term welfare. The activities carried out in this service include Coordination of Service Implementation, Socialization, Digital-based Financial Literacy Training, and Mentoring. The implementation method used in this community partnership program is participatory. The results of the service showed an increase in understanding of financial literacy by 32%, and skills in using digital financial applications increased by 41%. In addition, this mentoring also strengthens social relationships between participants, local facilitators from PCIA Hong Kong, and the implementation team.

Abstract

As a conservation-oriented university, UNNES has carried out various activities that support the preservation of nature and the environment. The increasing development of UNNES has led to an increasing diversity of community activities around it, thus potentially creating environmental impacts due to the increasingly massive land conversion for business, housing and entertainment. This condition indirectly affects the existence of flora and fauna in the UNNES Campus environment. To anticipate this condition, UNNES has undertaken various environmental improvement efforts, one of which is by regularly carrying out planting programs. It is fitting that UNNES has its own nursery in collaboration with the fostered community partners. The Akar Banir Foundation as a partner in community service activities, is a foundation that already has good capabilities in cultivating various types of plants. The objectives of this community service activity are: a) to facilitate a shaded house for a representative rare plant nursery and b) to develop and increase the biodiversity of rare plant seeds that will be developed by Akar Banir. From this community service activity, the following results have been achieved: a shaded house for a rare plant nursery located at Ecofarm UNNES Semarang with an area of 3 x 12 m2 . This shade house provides a facility for developing rare plant seedlings, which is expected to contribute to preserving Indonesia's rare plant germplasm. To date, 21 rare Indonesian plant species have been developed, and the hope is that this will continue to grow.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) represent a persistent and evolving public health challenge globally. In Hongkong, various community-based organizations have been instrumental in reaching underserved populations with culturally competent sexual health services. However, despite the growing importance of community actors, they often operate with limited resources, face inconsistent support from public institutions, and struggle with sustainability. Many community organizations lack sufficient training, funding, data access, and policy influence to operate at full capacity and to scale their work meaningfully. The community service activities carried out in this initiative have shown significant positive outcomes in enhancing the knowledge and attitudes of Indonesian female migrant workers in Hongkong regarding reproductive health and STD prevention. Through culturally sensitive counseling and the distribution of educational leaflets in Bahasa Indonesia, the program successfully reached a population that often faces barriers to health information and services. Participants demonstrated a clear increase in understanding of basic reproductive health topics, including STD symptoms, transmission methods, and preventive behaviors. More importantly, the activities helped normalize conversations around sexual health, reducing stigma and empowering women to seek testing and medical support when necessary. The peer-led approach played a crucial role in building trust and encouraging open dialogue. In conclusion, this initiative demonstrates that targeted, culturally relevant community service activities can effectively improve both awareness and attitudes toward reproductive health among marginalized groups. Strengthening such community-based efforts will be essential for advancing sexual health equity and preventing STDs among migrant populations in Hongkong and beyond.

Abstract

Street children are accustomed to living on the streets, in terminals, and in public places, often experiencing emotional stress. Their personalities become harsh, rough, and less sensitive. The solution offered is art therapy -based expression painting training as a way to channel hidden dreams and psychological burdens. The activity targets 15 street children at the Indonesian Gold Foundation Shelter in Semarang. Implementers include lecturers with visual arts expertise and counselors to ensure a more comprehensive and thorough training and mentoring. The program includes material presentations and creative practice in three face-to-face sessions, each lasting 5–6 hours. The expression painting approach uses a cycle-based art therapy that integrates cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects. The creative practice in each cycle uses art therapy stages including warm-up, recalling event, emotional expression and issues, restitution, and termination. The training results showed an increase in street children's creativity in painting. The first cycle was marked by hesitation and stiff expressions, while the second cycle demonstrated courage and diverse expressions through color and form. Participants were able to express their emotions in a painting and were able to appreciate it. This evidence confirms that the participants' creativity, sensitivity, and courage increased. The painting training has been able to reduce the psychological burden of trauma they experienced. The outputs include accredited articles, video highlights, local media news, and copyrights.

Abstract

The community service program conducted in Pandean Tourism Village focuses on increasing the capacity of MSMEs to utilize marketplace platforms to optimize their product sales. This program is motivated by the significant potential of local MSME products, but they still face challenges in digital marketing, particularly in utilizing marketplaces, which are currently an effective sales channel. Through this training, MSMEs are taught everything from creating a marketplace account, product photography techniques, writing compelling descriptions, and online store management strategies. The results of this community service program demonstrate an increase in participants' understanding and skills in managing Pandean Tourism Village's online store in the marketplace. MSMEs are expected to be able to independently create marketplace accounts, upload products with attractive photos and descriptions, and manage orders more professionally. The success of this program is measured not only by the participants' increased knowledge but also by the number of orders received through the marketplace platforms they manage, indicating that the program has had a direct impact on increasing sales of MSME products in Pandean Tourism Village.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen the capacity of rural communities in disaster preparedness through the establishment of a Disaster Resilient Village (Destana) in Timpik Village, Semarang Regency. The program was implemented using a participatory and collaborative approach based on BNPB Regulation No. 1 of 2012, involving village officials, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), community leaders, and vulnerable groups. The implementation stages consisted of the Village Resilience Assessment (PKD), disaster risk assessment, development of disaster mitigation and preparedness plans, establishment of the Village Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (PRB), and the formation of a Community Disaster Volunteer Team. The results show an improvement in the Village Resilience Index from 36.27 (pratama level) to 51.73 (moderately resilient). The village's main strength lies in basic services and the existence of disaster management policies, while weaknesses remain in transportation, services for vulnerable groups, early warning systems, and post-disaster recovery mechanisms. Overall, the establishment of Destana in Timpik Village has successfully enhanced community preparedness and institutional resilience, although continuous capacity building, regular training, and the development of formal disaster management documents are still required.
