Abstract

The Strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5) is a character-building program for students implemented through the "Merdeka" curriculum. The application of P5 in junior high schools in Cirebon Regency has encountered issues due to various levels of understanding throughout the stages of socialization, internalization, and implementation. These differences have led to varied perceptions among teachers in constructing P5 activities. This paper aimed to analyse the social construction of Social Studies (IPS) teachers regarding P5, the implementation of P5 activities, and the analysis of students' social behaviour in junior high schools in Cirebon Regency. The study employed a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach, using in-depth interviews and observations of P5 activities. The results showed that the social construction of Social Studies teachers varied, interpreting P5 as: (1) character and skill-strengthening activities, (2) product-oriented activities, both material and immaterial, and (3) a government program implemented according to the school’s capacity. The study concluded that these varying teacher interpretations influenced students' behaviour. This research provides significant insights into how P5 activities can impact students' social behaviour.

Abstract

The central gap in implementing differentiated learning lies in the mismatch between curriculum demands and practices caused by limited understanding, resources, time, policy support, and adaptive evaluation. This research aimed to identify teacher preparation, analyze the obstacles, and identify teachers' efforts in implementing differentiated social studies learning in the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Bangsri and MTS Hasyim Asy'ari. Researchers use qualitative methods which produce qualitative descriptive data through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The key informant in the research is the social studies teacher. The findings showed that the teachers' efforts in implementing differentiated learning were by attending training provided by the school and the government and then making teaching modules according to the student's needs. The significant obstacles faced are time limitations, lack of understanding and facilities, and the use of technology that has yet to be optimal. The efforts made by teachers are using various learning strategies, utilizing media and methods in differentiated learning, and selecting effective assessments and evaluations such as summative and formative assessments. This research suggests that increasing teacher training, providing additional facilities at school, and optimizing school support are crucial to ensure the successful implementation of differentiated social studies learning.

The Merdeka Curriculum brings challenges for social studies teachers in adjusting learning. The meaning of the teacher's social construction is a research gap that can be studied in facing this challenge. This study examines the social construction of junior high school social studies teachers in Kudus Regency in understanding the Merdeka Curriculum using Peter L. Berger's Social Construction Theory. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with the data source obtained from Grade VII & VIII Social Studies Teachers, Principal, and Vice Principal for Curriculum at SMP NU Putri Nawa Kartika. Data collection techniques used in this research are interviews and documentation. The results showed that three stages of social construction shape the meaning of the Merdeka Curriculum. Externalization can be seen from the teacher's adaptation in understanding and implementing the curriculum. Objectivation appears through institutionalizing the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum into learning practices. Internalization shows deep meaning that develops gradually, forming teachers' professional beliefs and practices.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the use of social harmony teaching materials at SMAN 3 Semarang and measure student responses to developing video-based teaching materials as a solution to the limitations of existing teaching materials. This study uses the R&D (Research and Development) method. The results of the study indicate that the teaching materials used are dominated by text, such as textbooks, teaching modules, PPT, and LKPD, which provide theoretical conceptual understanding but are less relevant to the local socio-cultural context of students. The lack of integration of visual and interactive media makes learning monotonous, so that motivation and involvement in the learning process decrease. To overcome these problems, video-based teaching materials were developed that present visual illustrations, animations, and examples of local phenomena that are close to students' lives. In addition, the development of videos shows a positive response from most students. The development of video-based teaching materials has been proven to be able to create a more meaningful, interesting learning experience and encourage students to internalize the values of social harmony in their lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of local wisdom values in the Syawalan tradition in Pedurungan Tengah Subdistrict, Pedurungan, Semarang, through a case study approach with qualitative methods. Syawalan tradition contains social, cultural, and religious dimensions that are in line with the objectives of Social Science Education (IPS): fostering understanding of social interaction, cultural diversity, and internalization of values in social life. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data validity technique uses triangulation techniques, namely triangulation of methods and sources. The results showed that the Syawalan tradition functions as a means of inheriting the values of mutual cooperation, solidarity, respect for plurality, and strengthening local identity. In the Syawalan tradition, there are essential values for the formation of good citizenship. Thus, the integration of the Syawalan tradition into social studies education can be a pedagogical strategy to preserve local wisdom while actualizing the goals of national education in building a harmonious society, nation, and state.
