Abstract

Saudi Vision 2030, conveived by His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman (MBS), represents a transformative initiative to foster openness and shift away from Wahhabism to establish a more moderate Islam. As part of this vision, the reform of the Islamic education curriculum plays a crucial role. This study examines the curriculum reform processes and strategies, focusing on Dirasat Islamiyah textbooks addressing inter-religious and intrareligious relations. Employing a qualitative approach and text analysis, the research applies Michel Foucault's theory of power-knowledge relations to analyze the state's role in shaping educational content. The findings reveal that the reformed curriculum seeks to construct and internalize ideologies that align the younger Saudi generation with the moderate Islam agenda of MBS's government, supporting Saudi Vision 2030. This study contributes to the theoretical discourse on power-knowledge dynamics by showcasing education's role in advancing state-driven ideological shifts during significant socio-political reforms.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the values of pesantren in the contemporary era through the Tsirwah Pesantren Digital Application, using descriptive qualitative methods. Data was collected through a Google Form questionnaire distributed to the community and application users and observing the application in terms of presentation features, content, and user assessment. The results show that this application offers online mondok features, digital libraries, articles, and dhikr and worship features. The advantages of this application are that users can learn Islam with a clear scientific sanad in a flexible and interactive way without coming to the boarding school, but there are disadvantages such as features that are not yet optimal, yellow books that are not fully updated, and many paid features. The digitalization of pesantren values in the application includes digital yellow books, online studies, and recitation classes. The implications of the research show that the features in this application have been adapted to pesantren in the real world and are very helpful for users who want to learn without coming directly to the pesantren, with a positive response from the community who feel the benefits.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the curricula of NU and Muhammadiyah educational institutions, focusing on their contributions to supporting moderate Islamic education. The research was conducted in Central Java, Indonesia, using a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques included classroom observations, in-depth interviews with school principals and teachers, as well as an analysis of curriculum documents and teaching materials. The findings reveal fundamental differences and similarities between the two curricula. NU's curriculum is rooted in the concept of "Islam Nusantara," emphasizing the integration of Islamic teachings with local culture and national identity, fostering harmony with state principles such as Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah's curriculum is based on the concept of "Progressive Islam," prioritizing modernity and incorporating contemporary sciences and social issues into the educational framework. This comparative analysis concludes that both educational institutions significantly contribute to shaping moderate Islamic perspectives through their curricula. The NU curriculum focuses on cultural preservation and religious harmony, while the Muhammadiyah curriculum emphasizes innovation and progress, aligning Islamic education with modern global challenges. This study highlights the potential of these curricula as frameworks to address socio-religious challenges, foster peace, and counter radicalism in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the implementation and impact of the Madrasah Ramah Anak (MRA) concept on the disciplinary character of students. This study uses a qualitative approach of field research type. This research took place at MAN 1 Sleman. Data collection was conducted through interviews and purposive sampling techniques. The results showed that the MRA program has been implemented following Sekolah Ramah Anak's (SRA) component. They are child-friendly school policy, educators and education personnel trained in children's rights and SRA, child-friendly learning process, child-friendly facilities and infrastructure, and child participation. MRA provides significant changes by shifting rewards and punishments towards a more humanist approach. The implementation of MRA, which is based on Albert Bandura's modeling theory, allows students to imitate the behavior of educators and peers. This modeling involves all madrasah stakeholders. The positive impact is the application of the principle of justice and increased networking with external parties such as BKKBN and Puskesmas. Then, the negative impact is the weakening of students' disciplinary attitude because they seem to feel safe from punishment. The solutions include involving students in competitions and formulating rules-related class agreements. This research is expected to make a scientific contribution to the formation of disciplinary character, especially through the concept of MRA.

Abstract

Religious behavior shapes attitudes, values, and practices within educational environments. This study investigates the efforts of teachers to enhance the religious behavior of Mattayom students at Solihuddin School. The research aims to understand student religious behavior, teacher efforts to improve it, and the inhibiting and supporting factors involved. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, employing observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using triangulation techniques. This study found that most mattayom students at Solihuddin School demonstrate generally positive religious behavior, although differences remain in understanding and participation. Teachers play a key role through modeling, personal guidance, and active engagement strategies. The effectiveness of these efforts is influenced by inhibiting factors, such as low student motivation and unsupportive environments, as well as supporting factors, including strong school policies, parental involvement, and proactive teaching. These findings highlight the importance of an integrated and collaborative approach to fostering students' religious development.

Abstract

The learning methods currently used by educators are still not optimal in fostering students' understanding of the subject matter. This contributes to problems related to developing students' character and skills. This research examines learning methods based on the Prophet Muhammad's hadith by highlighting interactive educational perspectives. The Prophetic Hadiths not only provide spiritual and moral guidance but also contain pedagogical principles that are relevant to modern learning contexts. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review, collecting references from books, scientific articles, and theoretical documents related to curriculum innovation strategies. The research findings reveal that interactive methods modeled by the Prophet, such as question and answer, habituation, and discussion, can improve academic performance, build moral character, and develop students' practical skills. This research highlights the relevance of interactive learning methods in modern education, focusing on active student participation and addressing the challenges of contemporary educational needs, particularly 21st-century skills.

Abstract

The strategic plan of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to improve the quality of Islamic education in Indonesia includes the Madrasah Reform Program, designed to provide training relevant to the challenges of modern education. Teacher competence is a key factor in enhancing the quality of education. This study aims to analyze the influence of training intensity in the Madrasah Reform Program on improving teacher competence. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto method is used to evaluate the extent of the relationship between training intensity, which includes frequency, duration, and depth of material, and the improvement of teacher competence. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation from madrasah teachers who participated in the training. The results of a simple linear regression analysis show that the depth of material has a significant impact on improving teacher competence. At the same time, the frequency and duration of training do not demonstrate a significant influence. These findings highlight the importance of the quality of training materials as a primary element in continuous professional development programs. Therefore, it is recommended that training focuses on preparing in-depth and applicable materials to enhance teacher competence effectively.

Abstract

This research examines the relevance of Ibn Khaldun's thoughts in contemporary multicultural education, particularly in building an inclusive and harmonious multicultural education system. This research argues that the social concepts proposed by Ibn Khaldun, such as ashabiyyah (social solidarity), are fundamental in managing diversity in education. By understanding diversity as a source of strength, education must be able to form social habits that strengthen relationships between different groups and build social solidarity. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a literature study type. Research findings show that although multicultural education offers opportunities to shape more inclusive and tolerant individuals, the reality on the ground often presents significant challenges. Diversity in education still causes tensions between different groups, whether religious, ethnic, or social. This study found that applying the principle of ashabiyyah, which emphasizes social solidarity, and using an educational approach based on compassion and gradual repetition of concepts can help overcome these challenges. Additionally, teaching methods emphasizing developing social and emotional skills, such as effective communication and empathy, are highly relevant for creating individuals ready to live harmoniously in a diverse society.
